The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 350: Chapter 162 Villain vs Savior (Finale)

Four months had passed since Gu Bei had left.

Four months, not particularly long but not short either. Under the leadership and planning of He Tiantian, the Northern City Base had already undergone earth-shaking changes—

The outermost city wall towered three to four meters high, allowing people to stand atop, with crenellations and watchtowers to boot.

If it weren’t for the bricks varying in colors of red and black, at first glance, it would resemble the ancient cities of old.

Such formidable walls encircled the entire base, offering tight protection.

Honestly, the Superpower Teams that came to ”play the villain and scrounge for supplies,” felt a strange sense of security upon seeing such walls.

”Is this the Northern City Base? A territory established by a scoundrel?”

Someone in a Superpower Team murmured to themselves.

”Damn! It’s even taller and more solid than the walls of our Eastern Base!”

”Yes, looking at these walls, I just feel very safe living inside!”

And the person able to build such a strong wall—whether a scoundrel or not—seemed to become a trivial matter.

Besides, even those Superpower Users who claimed to uphold the morals from before the apocalypse, who could say they hadn’t stained their hands with human blood?

Upon becoming Superpower Users, they were cut from ordinary people and went on to form two entirely distinct classes.

As ”upper-class citizens,” whether intentionally or accidentally, they would trample on the interests of those ”below.”

For example, in their respective bases, Superpower Users enjoyed privileges, while the powerless elderly, women, and children were oppressed and abused.

Which base didn’t have a few who caused trouble for women and were bullies who preyed on the weak but feared the strong?

Maybe the base leader was upright, but would they truly punish a Superpower User who could protect the base on behalf of a weak person who contributed nothing to the base?

The answer was self-evident.

Those people were just ordinary Superpower Users, not the heads of a base.

As for someone like He Xiaotian, he was the big shot in charge of an entire base.

Moreover, seeing how he managed to construct the base with such impenetrable security, he must be a Hero of the Troubled Times—corrupt in private virtue, yet possessing great righteousness.

Such a person, deemed a ”Hero of the Troubled Times,” could not be measured by ordinary laws or moral standards anymore.

All the Superpower Users, who set out on their journey full of righteous indignation as if they were fighters upholding justice, fell silent at this moment merely at the sight of the towering walls without even entering the base.

After a long while, a Superpower User with a niche ”Thousand-Mile Eye” Superpower casually mentioned, ”I’ve heard the Northern City Base only recruits ordinary people, rejecting the entry of Superpower Users!”

”The entire base is made up of ordinary people?”

Someone found it unbelievable and couldn’t help but ask again.

They doubted inwardly: How is that possible? Superpower Users are the main force in combating zombies.

In the apocalypse, the strength of a base was primarily judged by the number of Superpower Users it possessed.

And a base without Superpower Users didn’t really exist.

Even if it was barely established, it would be overrun by zombie hordes or get annexed by other forces.

Northern City Base, a place that claimed to only recruit ordinary people, somehow managed to stand firm in the apocalypse—this was utterly incredible.

”Eh? What do I see? The soldiers stationed on the wall are all old men and old ladies!”

A Superpower User with the rare Thousand-Mile Eye ability scrutinized the scene on the wall and cried out in amazement.

”What? Elderly, the elderly guarding the wall?” Everyone found it incredible.

In the apocalypse, the elderly were universally regarded as useless burdens.

While women, also considered weak, seemed to have some ”use,” the elderly were definitively a waste of food.

Some less notorious bases might provide the elderly with a space to live.

But in some extreme bases, no frail or elderly could be seen at all—they were either starved to death or discarded to fend for themselves outside.

If an elderly person had a Superpower User child, perhaps they could barely survive.

But if a family was made up of ordinary people, there was only one outcome—death!

A base that provided living space for the elderly and entrusted them with the responsibility of defense must be extraordinary.

Anyone who had survived the apocalypse, especially Superpower Users, wasn’t a fool.

Several Superpower Teams realized this.

They put away their ”heroes saving the people” attitude, lowering their status and politely called out to the real old guards on the city gate, ”We are a passing Superpower Team and wish to meet with the leader of your base!”
