The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 333: Chapter 156: Villain VS Savior (Part 7)_2

He Tiantian put on an act, raising her hand and sticking up three fingers one by one.

Her posture was quite imposing, but she quickly became a laughingstock.

After sticking up three fingers, she suddenly realized she had forgotten something and hurriedly cleared her throat, ”Oh, right, there’s one more thing, our base has rules and regulations too!”

He Tiantian surveyed the crowd and indeed saw a group of the old, frail, women, and children.

Of course, there were also some young and strong laborers mixed in the crowd.

But a month had passed since the apocalypse, and these people had gone through a month of hunger and constant fear.

Their bodies were already not so healthy before the apocalypse, and after more than a month of torment, everyone had become thin and haggard, staggering about.

He Tiantian secretly shook her head, sighing. The original character really was scum, hoarding loads of supplies and feasting with her lackeys, while almost starving the other survivors to death.

Didn’t she realize that in the apocalypse, when there are no strange superpowers, everyone should huddle together for warmth, rather than continuing with the old ways of oppression and abuse of power?!

Circumstances create heroes, indeed. The apocalypse was terrifying, but for some, it was an enormous opportunity.

The entire world was reshuffling, and if played right, even an insignificant thug like He Xiaotian, who once struggled at the bottom, could get a seat at the table and even claim a title.

But the result—

He Xiaotian, despite sitting on a mountain of supplies, failed to use it to recruit soldiers and consolidate his power. Instead, he indulged in excess, adopting a short-sighted mentality of ”enjoy each day as it comes.”

It’s really frightening when there’s no education. Clearly having the opportunity to become a local tyrant, the original character remained an indecent scumbag, a pervert!

The petty thief is executed while the one who steals a country is made a marquis. Murder and rape are indeed crimes.

But when He Xiaotian actually reached a certain status and made significant contributions, well, take Gu Nan, an anti-humanity scientist next door, as an example—they even managed to whitewash him.

He Xiaotian also wasn’t completely out of opportunities.

Of course, He Tiantian didn’t agree with the original character’s shameless actions; she just felt that he missed the point.

In the apocalypse, the priority is not to ”seize the day,” but to achieve great feats of domination.

”...Today, I, the formidable Northern City King, officially tell everyone that in my base, killing and bullying the weak are not allowed—”

He Tiantian continued to shout with feigned authority.

However, her impassioned speech did not win over the resonance and admiration of the audience below.

It wasn’t just the survivors; even He Xiaotian’s lackeys looked at He Tiantian with strange expressions.

It wasn’t that they doubted their boss had a change of heart; rather, they were secretly wondering: Boss, oh no, Heavenly King Emperor, is this some new trick up your sleeve?

What’s this about having rules at the base?

What’s all this talk about not allowing murder or bullying the weak?

What if one of the brothers violates such a rule and the survivors lodge a complaint? Would the Heavenly King actually carry out a sad execution and act as a fair official who doesn’t play favorites?

Ma Kui’s mouth twitched. One of his subordinates at his side had actually read a few years of books.

After thinking a bit, the subordinate whispered to Ma Kui, ”Brother Ma, I’m thinking, our Brother Tian, oh no, the Heavenly King, could he be trying to act like some of the warlords from the Republic era?”

Ma Kui turned his head and glanced at the subordinate, asking, ”What warlords from the Republic era? What kind of joke is that?”

The subordinate: ... It’s not an internet meme, sir, this is a piece of solid historical trivia.

The subordinate silently retorted before continuing respectfully, ”You see, some of these warlords, though they extorted and brought calamity upon the country, liked to go to the government Yamen to adjudicate for the common people!”

”They didn’t care about the law or the evidence; they just did whatever they felt like, wanting those poor victims to hail them as ’the blue sky’ (a term referencing a righteous official)!”

Ma Kui looked at the subordinate with suspicion, ”Are you pulling my leg? There were such people?”

That would be just looking for something to do when full.

The subordinate hurriedly affirmed, ”Of course, I’m not fooling you. History really has these little stories.”

Ma Kui smacked his lips, pondering over and over again yet still unable to understand such behavior.

In the end, he could only conclude, ”Perhaps these are just the peculiar hobbies of those big shots.”

And in his mind, his Bro Tian, ah no, the Heavenly King, had become a figure similar to those certain warlords from the Republic era—a Hero of the Troubled Times!

Eh, if one thought about it that way, the status of their own Heavenly King suddenly seemed much elevated.
