Chapter 1249: Chapter 64: Battle Armor

Su Xiao obtained a total of 9 pieces of ”Essence of Ancient Undead.” He already knew about the Set Treasure Box reward. As for the ”Holy Protection,” it seems to be some sort of defensive energy. As for the black mist on the third floor of the Xiya Temple, Su Xiao is temporarily unaware of what it is.

Su Xiao’s aim is not to slaughter his way through the Xiya Temple. If he’s not mistaken, the current location he is at is on the temple’s first floor. Therefore, the undead stationed here are not that strong. His goal is to find the ”Destruction Stone.”

”Necromancer Sage.”

Su Xiao attempted to negotiate with the statue. The other party had spoken in human language earlier.

”I... am... here.”

The Necromancer Sage spoke very slowly, taking a full five seconds to say just those two words.

”Do you know where the Destruction Stone is?”

Su Xiao went straight to the point. This guy speaks too slowly. If he made small talk, it would waste at least half an hour.

”I... of... course... know.”

The Necromancer Sage was very affable. It was unclear how long it had lived. It was one of the builders of this temple and had ended up like this because of betrayal by its own kind.

”Where is it?”

Su Xiao found negotiations with the Necromancer Sage somewhat painful. This guy speaks extremely slowly. The more words it speaks, the slower it gets, with the speaking speed decreasing incrementally. If the first word takes 2 seconds, then the following words take 4 seconds, 8 seconds, 16 seconds, half a minute...

”You... are... a... Demonic... Hunter... aren’t you? I... and... Demonic... Hunters...”

Upon hearing this from the Necromancer Sage, Su Xiao thought it was not a good sign. He wasn’t worried about any conflict with the Necromancer Sage but wished the other wouldn’t start reminiscing about the past, as its speech was just too slow.

Su Xiao rubbed his forehead lightly, while Bubu Wang anxiously circled around him, feeling so restless that it could only be described by the phrase ”gnawing at one’s heart and scratching at one’s liver.”

After a long negotiation lasting half an hour, Su Xiao finally got information about the Destruction Stone. According to the Necromancer Sage’s description, he was very close to the stone. After passing Tianzhen Temple, Su Xiao would encounter the strongest creature on the first floor of the Xiya Temple, the Spirit of Battle Armor. The Destruction Stone was set into the armor of the Spirit of Battle Armor.

According to the Necromancer Sage’s description, the Spirit of Battle Armor is extremely powerful. Even combining Long Knife Handler · Void and Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming with thousands of various undead soldiers would not be a match for the Spirit of Battle Armor.

In other words, Long Knife Handler · Void and Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming were merely gatekeepers; the true guardian of the first floor of the Xiya Temple was the Spirit of Battle Armor.

The Necromancer Sage also warned Su Xiao never to enter the second floor of the Xiya Temple, or rather, to go deeper down into the Xiya Temple.

The Xiya Temple has three floors. The first floor hosts generals or soldiers of the Xiya Dynasty, the second floor is designated for elite troops directly under the royal family, and the third floor is a Forbidden Area for Living Beings. Many terrifying entities are imprisoned there, including the ’Emperor Xiya · Butcher of Living Beings’ or ’Convict·Punishment’ and other dreadful creatures.

The Necromancer Sage didn’t specify just how terrifying the power of ’Emperor Xiya’ is. It simply stated that if Su Xiao were to fight with ’Emperor Xiya,’ the chances of survival would be low.

Note, not that he would win, but survive, meaning once Su Xiao engaged with ’Emperor Xiya,’ it would be hard for him to even escape.

The good news is, Su Xiao doesn’t need to enter the second or third floors of the Xiya Temple. The bad news is, the Spirit of Battle Armor is very strong.

The Necromancer Sage hadn’t spoken so much in a long time, so it was in a pretty good mood. It seemed to want to tell Su Xiao the story of the ’Xiya Dynasty,’ but unfortunately, its speech was so slow that it got stuck while talking.

Su Xiao spent six pieces of ”Essence of Ancient Undead” to exchange for a Gold-set treasure box. This thing must be exchanged for, as any golden suit is powerful. Even if it doesn’t fit Su Xiao, selling one piece could net quite a profit.

As for the remaining three pieces of ”Essence of Ancient Undead,” Su Xiao temporarily decided not to use them.

Upon leaving the safe point, the poisonous mist inside Tianzhen Temple had completely dissipated. Although Bubu Wang had been thrashed into doubting its canine existence in the battle, it managed to break Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming’s energy layer, otherwise who knows how long they would have been delayed.

Judging by the terrain from before, the first floor of the Xiya Temple is L-shaped. The bottom end of the L is the entrance, Long Knife Handler · Void is at the corner of the L, and Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming is at the center of the L. As for the Spirit of Battle Armor, it was at the top of the L, also guarding the entrance to the second floor of the Xiya Temple.

Su Xiao only needs to eliminate the Spirit of Battle Armor to acquire the ”Destruction Stone.” Whether to go deeper into the Xiya Temple would depend on the situation. If Demonic Hunt Time doesn’t go into cooldown, Su Xiao might delve deeper into the Xiya Temple, as the benefits gained here are just too bountiful.

Su Xiao, Bubu Wang, A Mu, and Elisa rendezvoused inside the Tianzhen Temple. A long corridor led deeper in; passing through it would take them to the location of the Spirit of Battle Armor.

Venturing deeper into the Tianzhen Temple costs 3000 Paradise coins per hour, so time was of the essence. Therefore, Su Xiao decided to quickly traverse deeper into the Xiya Temple, reaching the position of the Spirit of Battle Armor.

With Gos already dead, it was naturally up to Su Xiao to lead the charge next. Just as Su Xiao was about to enter the stone corridor, Bubu Wang stood in his way.

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang implied that it would scout the situation first. Given its stealth ability, it wouldn’t be in any danger unless it encountered its nemesis.

Bubu Wang ventured into the pitch-black stone corridor, gradually blending into the surroundings, while Su Xiao waited inside the Tianzhen Temple.

As he waited, the Silly White Sweet Princess Elisa approached.

”Um...”

Elisa seemed to have some kind of unspeakable issue. Her legs were tightly together, and her expression was bashful.

”Just speak your mind.”

Su Xiao leaned against the corner of the wall; he had to seize the moment to recover his stamina, as a tough battle awaited him afterward.

”I want... um~, this...”

Elisa held her long skirt in her hands. Seeing her bashful posture, Su Xiao guessed what she wanted to do; this girl probably needed to urinate.

”The corner is a good choice; we can’t leave the Tianzhen Temple now.”

”Huh?”

Elisa froze where she stood, internally struggling for a bit before deciding to hold it, choosing to become the ”desperate-to-pee princess” from her overwhelming embarrassment.

About fifteen minutes later, Bubu Wang suddenly appeared in front of Su Xiao, so close that Su Xiao almost slapped Bubu Wang’s face.

”Gulp~”

Bubu Wang swallowed hard, eyes filled with horror.

”What did you see?”

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang motioned for Su Xiao to follow, running quickly into the stone corridor.

After walking in the stone corridor for five minutes, a light appeared ahead. Su Xiao stopped in the darkness, focusing his eyes up ahead.

At the end of the corridor was an extensive circular clearing. Due to the angle, Su Xiao could only make out parts of the situation inside the clearing.

The clearing was filled with stone platforms, upon which lay undead figures, each nearly three meters tall. Their appearance resembled Long Knife Handler · Void, but they didn’t possess the same aura. Long Knife Handler · Void was an elite unit, while these undead were ordinary Long Knife Users. They could similarly summon an Undead Horse and wield a Horse-Cutting Blade; however, they lacked the green flame enhancement.

There were 30 Long Knife Users in total, lying silently on stone platforms. If surrounded by these Long Knife Users, Su Xiao would likely be besieged to death.

At the far end of those neatly arranged stone platforms was a stone throne. A two-meter-tall undead leaned against it, donning battle armor. The battle armor was meticulously interlinked, completely enshrouding its upper body, while its lower half was composed of armor strips forming a battle skirt hanging down to its knees.

Wearing such battle armor, its defensive power was undoubtedly formidable. Moreover, this was not an armor suit; the battle armor was crafted from numerous armor strips sewn together, allowing for more flexibility at the joints, evidently superior in technical sophistication over those rigid full-body armors.

This was likely the Spirit of Battle Armor. No weapon was nearby it. Looking closely, one would notice a gemstone embedded on the armor strips on the back of its right hand, appearing blue with flashes of electric light inside.
