Chapter 1232: Chapter 47: Descent into the Throne

Su Xiao carried Elisa Herbert downstairs, tears still streaked on her face. Initially unwilling, Alicia quickly yielded when the Slaughter Dagger was pressed against her neck, making Su Xiao’s Charm Attributes ’skyrocket’ from ’9 points’ to ’90 points’.

Su Xiao seized the chance to examine Elisa Herbert’s attributes. Apart from her outstanding Charm, her other attributes were quite unpleasant to behold.

Name: Elisa Herbert

Category: Human (Royal Family)

Life Value: 94% (skin slightly nicked by Slaughter)

Mana Value: 60 points

Power: 4

Agility: 6

Stamina: 15

Intelligence: 6

Charm: 38

Skill 1, Royal Bloodline (Passive Lv.10), Stamina +10, Charm +10, exudes elegance.

Skill 2, Appeal for help (Active Lv.12), cries aloud. If Elisa Herbert is in Royal Capital, there’s a 70% chance to attract the Security Army, a 100% chance to summon Guardian Knight, Gos.

Skill 3, Scholarly (Passive Lv.29), proficient in multiple languages and self-taught in Botany via books.

...

In terms of combat effectiveness, Elisa Herbert is weak to an unpleasant degree; Su Xiao could easily smack her dead with a casual flick.

Though Elisa Herbert has weak combat prowess, her Guardian Knight Gos possesses formidable battle strength, enough to serve as cannon fodder under the throne.

Su Xiao only requires Elisa Herbert to activate the mechanism beneath the throne; he doesn’t need her combat skills. Personality-wise, as long as she’s not a cunning old fox, she’s fine.

Compared to other princes or princesses, Elisa Herbert is undoubtedly the best choice. She has decent combat strength (Gos), yet she herself holds no real skill. Such a princess entering under the throne with Su Xiao would be entirely at his mercy, rounded or flattened as he wishes.

Su Xiao sat in the living room, Elisa Herbert beside him with bandages wrapped around her neck. The Slaughter Dagger, a weapon for killing enemies, often of monster level, injured Elisa Herbert’s skin just by touching.

Gos was infuriated but helpless; neither the old king nor the new king objected to Su Xiao temporarily requisitioning Elisa Herbert.

Requisition differs from assistance—should Elisa Herbert perish, the royal family won’t hold Su Xiao accountable. As for pressing her to the ground post-event, the third prince would merely remark: ’Who knew Iron Hand had such class.’

Indeed, this is Elisa Herbert’s current situation.

”How could His Majesty agree to such absurdity?”

Gos dared not express his anger openly, reduced to mere muttering.

This master-servant pair seemed oblivious to the outside world, as undercurrents surged within Royal Capital, who cared about one proud Holy Warrior and a useless princess’s fate?

”That’s the gist. Join me deeper beneath the throne. Oh, and you don’t have the right to refuse.”

Su Xiao rose; he knew little about the situation under the throne, so time was of the essence.

”Then, then I’ll prepare.”

Elisa Herbert understood the circumstances, left with two choices. One, join Su Xiao under the throne, increasing her survival odds, as Su Xiao would need her to reopen the mechanism upon returning. Refusal’s consequence was clear.

”No time for preparation; we move now.”

”That’s... direct.”

Elisa Herbert’s mention of preparation wasn’t regarding luggage but grabbing a few cherished books; she was not only useless but also a bookworm.

Don’t mistake her for being knowledge-hungry; she’s just extremely bored, too scared to venture outside, thus resorting to reading at home to pass time.

Su Xiao headed out, Elisa Herbert hesitated briefly before opting to follow with tiny steps, Gos trailing behind, his gaze towards Su Xiao rife with hostility.

Su Xiao’s first act upon entering beneath the throne was to maximize Gos’s cannon fodder status. If this guy survived past a day, that would indicate a flaw in Su Xiao’s plan.

He required a pawn, not a guardian knight likely to interfere. Despite the appeal, a knight protecting a princess was protecting another man’s wife.

The squad assembled was notably peculiar.

The blood-drenched Su Xiao, sporadically silly Bubu Wang, starved-to-white-eyed A Mu, proud Holy Warrior, and finally, the princess, acting as... a charm. Her role aside from activating the mechanism beneath the throne was reduced to floral beauty.

Approximately forty minutes later, Su Xiao arrived at the Royal Palace, surrounded by numerous Forbidden Guards, eyes like hawks, bodies tensed upon spotting Su Xiao.

”Iron Hand, lord, what brings you to the Royal Palace?”

A Forbidden Guard leader approached, his manner courteous.

”Council Hall.”

”Allow me to guide you.”

The leader had been commanded by the third prince; now Su Xiao’s freedom to enter and leave the Royal Palace was restricted, yet the prince wouldn’t obstruct him from entering the Kingdom Council Hall, which would equate to openly opposing Su Xiao.

Su Xiao’s party smoothly entered the Council Hall, with Gos sensing a worsening atmosphere.

Upon entering, the third prince arrived with his entourage, driven by curiosity beneath the throne.

”Iron Hand, pay me no mind; I’m here just to support.”

The third prince smiled; now holding power, he tempered his once ruthless and bloody nature, focusing more on garnering favor.

Su Xiao approached the metal throne, the old king’s sole words concerning its opening left behind—a mechanism was evident.

Standing before the throne, Su Xiao removed his top, tossing it to Bubu Wang, then placed his hands on it.

Su Xiao drew a deep breath, exerted power, and pushed the throne’s side.

With a crack, stones below the throne exploded, the ground at Su Xiao’s feet extensively fracturing.

Crack! Crack!

Su Xiao’s True Strength, bolstered by the King of Demon Hunting, reached an impressive 89 points—a fearsome monster strength. Veins bulged in his arms as cracks spread beneath his feet over ten meters.

With a rumble, the entire Council Hall trembled, the third prince’s eyes twitching as he recalled attempting to dismantle the throne using Forbidden Guards, only to fail as the throne was nearly integral to the Council Hall.

Dust intermittently fell from the ceiling, Su Xiao almost adhered to the throne, opting against using a mechanism due to its potential risks.

Grating, grating...

The throne tilted, metallic groans echoing, Su Xiao releasing once the tilt reached around 30°.

”Iron Hand, I don’t mind the throne, but it isn’t meant to be opened with brute force, hey, you’re...”

The third prince waved dismissively, signaling Forbidden Guards to retreat. Before they could withdraw, Bubu Wang and A Mu had already backed off.

Su Xiao unsheathed Dragon Slash at his waist, his earlier push merely assessing the throne’s structure—its seat-like top was overshadowed by a pillar-like base, over 90% submerged.

Swiping the Dragon Slash, Su Xiao stood before the throne, pausing briefly then slashed ahead.

Clang.

A silver chain manifested, Su Xiao’s blade softly sheathing as he forcefully kicked the throne.

With a tremendous crash, the throne was booted aside, revealing a dimly-lit opening three meters wide resembling a shaft, its walls entirely metallic.

A profound darkness lay below, the wind whistling upwards, Su Xiao kicking down a stone only to hear faint metallic clatters after over ten seconds.

”Let’s go.”

Su Xiao leapt into the opening, Bubu Wang immediately following, A Mu seized Elisa Herbert, leaping in amid her screams.

Gos stood at the vertical shaft’s edge, perceiving intense malice from below, his expression sour as he struggled to comprehend why the others could jump into a perilous place without hesitation.

Elisa Herbert was already inside, leaving Gos to ponder his loyalty. Hesitation plagued him.

Unaware of such risks being routine for Su Xiao, with Bubu Wang and A Mu, never mind a dark pit—had Su Xiao jumped into a volcano, they’d follow too.

Gos clenched his teeth, diving into the shaft.
