Chapter 1231: Chapter 46: From Useless to Breaking Through the Limits

Gos led Su Xiao through the courtyard, entering the somewhat dilapidated two-story residence, which was cleaned up very tidily, though it had not been repaired for a long time.

Gos pushed the door and entered the residence, arriving at the living room.

”Her Royal Highness is indeed resting, please wait a moment.”

Gos walked up the stairs, Su Xiao did not wait in the living room but followed up the stairs.

”Iron Hand, you better stop...”

Boom!

Su Xiao suddenly delivered a side kick to Gos’s abdomen, catching him completely off guard, and Gos was kicked away.

Bang, bang...

Gos stabilized his stance after crashing through two walls and landed in a half-squat position, covering his abdomen with one hand, his face turning pale and green.

”Do you think I came here to seek an audience with Elisa Herbert? If you continue to whine, I’ll slaughter Elisa Herbert too.”

Su Xiao glanced at Gos and continued walking upstairs.

Gos was half-squatting on the ground, his expression constantly changing, and A Mu and Bubu Wang blocked his path. If he dared to advance, he would die today. Su Xiao’s patience had its limits. Although he wanted to use this guy as cannon fodder, he wouldn’t allow him to keep babbling.

Gos’s face was as gloomy as water. His mission was indeed to protect Elisa Herbert, but was that really the case?

The long period of guardianship began to warp Gos’s loyalty. At some point, the timid princess became something of his personal possession. While he lacked the courage to desecrate her, he fiercely resisted outsiders approaching Princess Elisa.

Su Xiao’s visit to see Elisa Herbert wasn’t a private matter but a command; it wasn’t about whether Elisa Herbert wanted to see him—she had to.

In a study room on the second floor, a girl with long golden hair and wearing a white dress was flipping through a book. She jumped at the sudden noise from downstairs, and the book slipped from her hand onto the floor.

With a creak, the door was pushed open. Elisa Herbert turned to look, as a stranger walked into the room, whose gaze filled her with instinctive fear.

”H-hello.”

Elisa Herbert spoke softly, but her voice was so low that Su Xiao couldn’t hear what she was saying.

Su Xiao stepped forward, coming within a meter of Elisa Herbert, whose breathing became somewhat rapid. Besides her father and Guardian Knight Gos, no man had ever been so close to her, let alone touch her. As long as Elisa could remember, no man had touched her, and this was closely tied to Gos’s somewhat twisted ’guardianship’.

”Is there anything you need?”

Elisa Herbert’s right hand was behind her back, holding a thick book, her ’weapon’ for self-defense.

However, her expression was not so firm, clearly conveying, ”If you dare come closer, I’ll cry.”

Su Xiao seemed to have discovered a ’new species’. He had met many princes and princesses, who were either eloquent or graceful. Princesses like Elisa Herbert were indeed rare.

Elisa Herbert was this way because she often stayed home reading books, her favorite pastime. In her view, the outside world was too dangerous; those strange men looked at her as if they could devour her at any moment. The brothers were even more terrifying.

Elisa Herbert didn’t want to die, so she protected herself in a unique way—by making herself non-threatening.

The fact was, Elisa Herbert succeeded. When the Third Prince learned that Su Xiao had come to see Elisa Herbert, his expression was quite remarkable. His first thought was that the arrogant Holy Warrior was surely doomed, and his second thought was that the little rabbit, Elisa Herbert, might be in trouble.

Indeed, the princes and princesses privately referred to Elisa Herbert as the little rabbit—a beautiful ’herbivore’, the most incompetent princess ever—bar none.

Elisa Herbert didn’t have a fief not because the Old King didn’t grant her one. Initially, Elisa Herbert was granted a fief that was not very prosperous, but had a favorable geographical location.

However, within a few months, the Old King was surprised to learn that a group of rebels had appeared in that fief. Even the calm Old King became stunned for a few seconds. Upon learning the reason, he barely managed to sleep after drinking alcohol that night, issuing an order before sleep: to bring Elisa Herbert back to the Royal Capital, to grant her a residence and let her live within the Royal Capital—to avoid embarrassing the royal family.

Actually, when the Old King issued the command, Elisa Herbert’s castle was already surrounded by rebels, and she was shivering within.

That night, Kingdom’s Army Commander Herschel rushed over and completely destroyed the rebels by the next morning. Upon learning the reason for the uprising, Herschel was speechless for a long time, finally saying only that the King was wise.

Thus, the remarkably incompetent Elisa Herbert was sent to the Royal Capital. The Old King really didn’t want to see this failure, so he placed her on the edge of the Royal Capital.

Elisa Herbert was a beautiful princess. If some audacious drunkard broke into her home, it would be a scandal for the royal family. Therefore, the Old King bestowed Gos, the Holy Warrior, upon Elisa Herbert, to protect her safety.

According to the Seventh Prince, Gos was highly skilled but extremely arrogant and oblivious to everything, a common target of exclusion among Holy Warriors because he was so prideful, nearly disregarding everyone.

Thus, two oddities settled in the Royal Capital: one master, one servant—the master so incompetent it was laughable, and the servant arrogantly oblivious.

Even so, all the princes and princesses shared a belief: Elisa Herbert was a harmless ’herbivore’.

In such situations, if Elisa Herbert wasn’t a sly old fox, she might be a calculating schemer. Initially, the princes and princesses thought this way, but years later, they surprisingly found they misunderstood her; she truly was incompetent, not pretending.

The Old King’s choice of Elisa Herbert had no special reason, just sheer waste utilization. He clearly knew any prince or princess in Su Xiao’s hands would end up badly. Therefore, he chose a rather incompetent one, indirectly preserving strength for the Kingdom.

”Um, well, it’s lunchtime now. Can I go eat lunch?”

Elisa Herbert timidly asked, and Su Xiao raised a brow. Despite the situation, this princess was actually considering lunch? Living this sluggishly was indeed rare.

”You... you should say something. Could it be...”

Elisa Herbert apparently thought of something terrifying, and upon seeing her expression, Su Xiao felt she finally grasped the current situation.

”Could it be... you’re here to rob me?”

Elisa Herbert seemed very serious, causing Su Xiao to shelve his previous thoughts. Her train of thought was comparable to the foolish Bubu Wang.

”Come with me.”

Su Xiao turned and walked out of the room.

”I-I won’t.”

Elisa Herbert stiffened, but if she hadn’t been trembling, her resolve might have been convincing.

”Stop talking nonsense.”

Murderous intent surged in Su Xiao’s eyes.

”Help!! Even if it costs me, I... wait, don’t, don’t kill me, I’ll leave.”

Su Xiao dragged Elisa Herbert downstairs, undoubtedly, this foolish princess was well-suited to be brought under the throne. In terms of intelligence, even in a silly state, Bubu Wang could crush her.
