Chapter 1212: Chapter 27: Bu Bu Wang’s Joyful Times

Su Xiaogang left the underground interrogation room, causing Ilde, who was shackled on the X-shaped metal frame, to start imagining things. She was unsure of how Su Xiao learned about her and her master’s situation, even calling names, which indicated Su Xiao was not just bluffing.

Ilde’s first reaction was that there was an informer within the Undead Clan, but no matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t figure out who might betray them. However, Ilde was not foolish, and she considered another possibility—that Su Xiao had obtained their information.

More importantly than those thoughts, Ilde had a more pressing matter to attend to: finding a way to escape. She glanced around the room but saw no tools to assist her. Any weapons or tools she carried, apart from her clothing, had been placed on an iron table not far away.

Ilde started observing the X-shaped metal frame that restrained her. The frame didn’t completely confine her arms; they were free to move. However, metal rings shackled her shoulders, chest, waist, legs, and ankles. These rings were part and parcel of the X Metal Frame and made from a special metal that Ilde couldn’t break free from.

Ilde’s hands supposedly had metal rings too, but they weren’t shackled. Perhaps this was a careless oversight by Su Xiao, or maybe he was overly confident.

Would Su Xiao make such a basic error? Certainly not, as a good show is about to unfold.

At the entrance of the underground interrogation room, Bubu Wang put away the tablet. It just reviewed a pirate movie, with one particular scene it ’really liked’.

Bubu Wang shook its head, and the keys jingled on its neck. By their shape and size, these seemed to be the keys to the X-shaped metal frame.

Bubu Wang raised its front paw and pushed open the door of the underground interrogation room, lured by some scent and ’attracted’ into the room.

With a creak, the metal door swung open, and Ilde inside the room tensed up, her breath slightly rapid.

But soon Ilde relaxed a bit, as it was only a dog entering the room, though she had never seen a dog that looked like this.

Bubu Wang’s nose twitched; it seemed drawn by a scent inside the room, emanating from Ilde, as it gradually approached her.

Initially, Ilde was somewhat nervous; she didn’t know if the dog was aggressive. If it was, she’d be in danger, as her arm’s movement space was limited. If the dog bit her legs, she would be helpless.

But Ilde quickly found that Bubu Wang was not aggressive, merely attracted by some kind of scent.

”Come... here.”

Ilde spoke human language a bit more fluently, having studied it specifically—not out of curiosity for human culture, but because it was a tactical language of the Undead Clan. The higher one’s status in the clan, the more required proficiency in human language. Similarly, humans learned basic undead language, and the higher their tier, the stricter the requirement for undead language.

After a brief adaptation, Ilde’s human language gradually became proficient.

Upon hearing Ilde speak, Bubu Wang looked up.

With a clang, metal rang as Bubu Wang raised its head, revealing the keys around its neck.

Ilde stared at the keys, her mouth gradually opening. Judging by size and material, this might very well be the key to the X Metal Frame. If it could unlock her restraints, Ilde had a high chance of escaping.

At first, Ilde felt it was incredible, but when she thought about the dog’s ability to freely move in and out of the basement, she realized a possibility: this dog might be the pet of Iron Hand. For such a deadly individual, few dared approach him, so a dog was more likely to gain his trust and serve as a guard.

Why the key to freedom hung around a dog’s neck was beyond her understanding, but in her view, Su Xiao was both a pervert and a monster; nothing he did would be surprising.

”Come here, doggy.”

Ilde lightly clapped and tried her best to maintain a kind expression, to avoid frightening it.

Bubu Wang stepped forward, looking up at Ilde. The keys on its neck were close to her; Ilde extended her right arm, her fingertips mere 2 centimeters from the keys, freedom... at hand.

”A little... closer!”

As Ilde strained to reach out, her expression began to lose its kindness, her teeth grinding with a raspberry sound.

Bubu Wang seemed frightened by Ilde’s expression and scooted backward about a centimeter.

”No, no, no, good dog, be good, don’t be afraid, come a little closer.”

Ilde’s palm veins bulged; she was just 3 centimeters away from freedom. Though unsure if the key would unlock the X Metal Frame, it was worth a try.

With Ilde’s expression softening, Bubu Wang approached more closely, her fingertips successfully touched a key, and a smile bloomed on her face.

Clang～

Ilde’s fingernails brushed the metallic key, the cold touch confirming her alive, not in a nightmare, but a real event.

”Good doggy, come closer, I’ll give you candy...”

Now Ilde could only touch the metal key with her fingertips, unable to grab the keys.

Sitting on the floor, Bubu Wang yawned, appearing to lack intelligence, though this was its deliberate disguise.

Bubu Wang was not teasing Ilde; rather, it was gradually wearing down her will, letting her waver between ’freedom’ and ’captivity’, experiencing life’s highs and lows every half minute.

Originally, Bubu Wang thought this task dull, but upon practice, it found it immensely enjoyable and thrilling.

Consider, Ilde’s combat strength is not weak. If she managed to grab Bubu Wang, he’d certainly be in trouble—not dying, as she was half-beaten by Su Xiao, but if caught, Bubu Wang would certainly experience a dramatic canine life.

This feeling of probing death’s edge totally activated Bubu Wang’s silly nature. Death is like the wind, always by its side.

”You damned dog, get closer!”

At her thirtieth attempt to brush the key, Ilde felt somewhat broken inside: anxiety, frustration, desire, and tension surrounded her, her willpower unknowingly worn down.

Hearing Ilde curse at it, Bubu Wang scooted back again.

”I was wrong, I was wrong, you’re a good dog, no, you’re humanity’s most loyal partner, you know, we undead also keep dogs, so we’re not enemies, come closer, yes, just like that.”

Hearing this, Bubu Wang scooted forward again.

Ilde’s mouth opened and closed; she had a persistent doubt: could this dog really understand what she was saying? This led her to a ridiculous thought: the dog seemed to be teasing her, using the keys around its neck to mock her.
