Chapter 1209: Chapter 24: Undead

The strong smell of blood permeated the room, and a scream rang out. It was from a woman around 20 years old, who happened to be passing by. She should be Floating Mandarin from the Gold Melting Kiln, commonly referred to as a prostitute.

The Undead Clan member crouched on the chandelier, body tense. Its height was about 1.4 meters, with grayish-white bandages wrapped around its hands, each gripping a long dagger, glinting coldly.

Clearly, this Undead Clan member didn’t want to alert too many people; after all, this was the Royal Capital of the Holy Sodding Kingdom.

”Shh.”

Su Xiao put his index finger in front of his mouth, signaling the Floating Mandarin to stop screaming and to return to where she came from. Yet the Floating Mandarin continued to scream, at a very high decibel, clearly stimulated by the corpse on the ground.

Su Xiao pried a stone from the wall, holding it loosely, with his thumb pressed against the stone.

With a bang, the stone was flicked out, breaking through a layer of airwaves as it flew towards the Floating Mandarin.

Crash!

The shattered skull and brain splattered against the wall, and the Floating Mandarin whose head was pierced fell to the ground with a thud.

”So noisy.”

Su Xiao turned his gaze to the Undead Clan member frozen in place.

”Isn’t she... one of your kind?”

The Undead Clan member spoke, the voice line leaning towards feminine, and her grasp of the human language was very crude.

”I gave her a chance, now... it’s your turn.”

Dragon Slash was unsheathed from Su Xiao’s hands, and his aura became increasingly sharp.

The Undead Clan member clenched both hands tightly, energy surged forth, enveloping her two long daggers with a piercing green energy.

The ground beneath Su Xiao’s feet cracked extensively as he engaged in his first battle with the Undead Clan member. Judging by the situation, this opponent was a special individual within the Undead Clan, akin to a Holy Warrior among humans.

The Eye of the Apostle floated above Su Xiao’s head, and he habitually used it to scout enemy intelligence, which provided a significant advantage before battle, as he did previously against Joseph Cole, discovering from his information that Joseph’s Power of the Saint was exceptionally poisonous, which was crucial information.

[Comparing both intelligence attributes... Comparison complete. My intelligence attribute is 1.05 times that of the enemy, acquiring 94% of the enemy’s data.]

...

When Su Xiao saw the details for Power of Undead (Passive Level 36), he felt a vague sense of familiarity; this ability somewhat resembled his Blue Steel Shadow ability, though the nature between the two differed.

Blue Steel Shadow annihilates energy inside the enemy and causes True Damage, whereas Power of Undead reacts repulsively with the enemy’s internal energy, wreaking havoc within.

Seeing a skill akin to Blue Steel Shadow Ability, Su Xiao squinted his eyes as a possibility occurred to him: had the inspiration for Power of Undead been influenced by Blue Steel Shadow Ability in some way?

In Su Xiao’s view, Power of Undead wasn’t merely an imitation of Blue Steel Shadow Ability; it was a new ability developed after gaining inspiration from Blue Steel Shadow Ability.

Realizing this, Su Xiao grew more confident about locating the Relic of the Annihilation Law. At least he knew it existed, and the Undead had arrived there before.

Previously, Su Xiao felt peculiar battling Holy Warriors. Why did those guys release all their energy externally? This practice was rarely seen and quite impractical for combat.

However, this impractical combat method effectively restrained Blue Steel Shadow Energy. In reality, Holy Warriors weren’t trying to prevent Annihilation Law, but were resisting Awakeners within the Undead Clan, specifically against ’Power of Undead’.

”It seems your worth exceeds expectations.”

Su Xiao looked at Ilde crouched on the chandelier. She was likely a female from the Undead Clan. Of course, there were males and females among the Undead Clan; their reproduction methods were entirely similar to humans, which explained the existence of half-bloods.

Initially, Su Xiao planned to capture this female Undead Clan member alive, to find out who’s orchestrating the murder of the Little Princess from behind the scenes.

Upon discovering Ilde’s ’Power of Undead’ ability, Su Xiao’s intent to capture her grew stronger. He speculated this ability wasn’t merely a mimic of Blue Steel Shadow Energy but a secondary creation inspired by it.

The expression of ”nature’s stone that can attack jade” came to mind. A detailed study of Power of Undead might provide significant inspiration for Blue Steel Shadow Ability.

The idea was tempting, yet capturing Ilde alive wouldn’t be easy. Judging by her physique, weapons, and attributes, she was likely from the Agility System. Her power and durability were weaker than Su Xiao’s. Unlike Joseph Cole, who, once engaged, was vulnerable to death.

The air in the room seemed almost solidified as Su Xiao and Ilde stayed still. Su Xiao was waiting for the opponent to show flaws, while Ilde dared not act recklessly.

Originally, Ilde assumed Su Xiao was only a high-ranking official of the ’Holy Sodding Kingdom.’ Although his records showed strong capabilities, Su Xiao wasn’t a Holy Warrior, so Ilde underestimated him somewhat before arriving here.

But after staring at Su Xiao for a few seconds, Ilde’s natural sharp intuition sensed something amiss, even inducing a strategic retreat impulse.

The silent confrontation commenced; one minute, two minutes, five minutes...

”Rowen Harvey, you’ve probably heard of the name.”

Su Xiao broke the silence, changing his usual battle style. Typically, he never wasted words when he could act, but this time he spoke because he wanted to capture the opponent alive.

Don’t assume capture is a gentle act. For the Undead Ilde, being captured alive would be far scarier than being killed on the spot.

Upon hearing Su Xiao’s words, the brows beneath Ilde’s mask furrowed. She certainly knew who Rowen Harvey was. Rowen Harvey left the Royal Capital under her protection.

”That old guy escaped quickly, but we have a decent personal interaction; we often exchange coded messages. If you’re his subordinate, today I’ll let you go, as repayment for a favor owed to that old guy.”

Su Xiao was entirely bluffing; he and Rowen Harvey were merely exploiting each other.

”... ”

Ilde remained silent.

”Never mind, I’ll just repay that old guy’s favor. Deliver this to him, and from now on, we owe each other nothing.”

Su Xiao took an object from his storage space, pulled the ring open, and tossed it to Ilde.

Ilde stared at the object flying mid-air. It didn’t present a sense of danger but could potentially contain poison. Thus, Ilde didn’t intend to catch the object and aimed to distance herself from it.

Unbeknownst to Ilde, Su Xiao didn’t need her to catch the airborne object; she only had to stare at it. Provided this Undead sister wasn’t an idiot, she had zero possibility of catching it, nor would she allow it within several meters of herself.

Ilde indeed did as expected. Unfortunately, the airborne object was named Magnetic Core Light Bomb, lacking direct damage capability but emitting a strong light upon explosion.
