Chapter 1245: Chapter 60: Shock

Su Xiao gestured for Elisa to continue, and after a moment’s hesitation, Elisa walked up to the metal archway.

Elisa leaned in close to the metal arch, lightly brushing the hair by her ear and tucking a lock behind it. She opened her mouth and said, ”What’s written on the door is: 3, 7, 8, 12, 15.”

Su Xiao had already noticed earlier that Elisa understood the language in the tomb, and now it seemed that was indeed the case.

”How do you know this language?”

”I saw it in a book. It’s a very ancient Undead Language. According to the book, no one has used it for hundreds of years.”

Elisa reached out to touch the metal arch.

”Is this the Xiya Temple?”

Su Xiao glanced sideways at Elisa. She actually knew this was the Xiya Temple.

”From a book?”

”Mm.”

Elisa’s eyes were still a bit red. It seemed she was still grieving Gos’s death.

”Which book?”

Su Xiao didn’t believe ordinary books could record any information related to the Xiya Temple.

”A book in my father’s study. Back then I was... uh~ about ten years old. Later my father found out. He locked me in a dark room and didn’t give me anything to eat for a whole day. After that, I was never allowed to enter his study again.”

Elisa scratched her head, mussing her smooth blond hair a bit. This was her most unforgettable childhood memory.

”How much do you know about the Xiya Temple?”

”I only saw the map of this place. Then my father went into the study. But I saw this archway in an illustration in that book, so I thought this might be the Xiya Temple.”

”Draw it for me.”

Su Xiao took out paper and pen and handed them to Elisa.

”What?” Elisa put on a bewildered expression.

”The map of this place.”

”Eh~”

Elisa panicked. She had already forgotten that map completely, only vaguely remembering a few circles.

Crouching on the ground, Elisa tilted her head back to look at Su Xiao, Bubu Wang, and A Mu. Among them, Bubu Wang obviously looked the most kind. As for Su Xiao, just standing in front of him made her legs feel weak. As for A Mu, she kept feeling this monster was very hungry and might eat her at any time.

”You didn’t forget, did you.”

Su Xiao’s hand pressed down on Elisa’s shoulder.

”If you forgot, I’ll help you remember.”

”H-how could I possibly.”

Elisa took the paper and pen and turned her back to Su Xiao. Her thin lips pressed together, her expression seeming to say: ”What if she’s already forgotten the map completely? Waiting online, super urgent, like people-could-die-any-minute kind of urgent.”

Elisa had been able to recall this metal arch purely because seeing the real thing triggered her memory.

Elisa wasn’t totally some silly pure-hearted girl either. She knew how dangerous Su Xiao was, so she’d kept her mouth shut. Before, with Gos there to catch bullets, her presence had been very low. Now that Gos was dead, her presence was gradually becoming stronger.

A few minutes later, Elisa handed the paper and pen back to Su Xiao, swallowing hard as she did.

Su Xiao took them, and when he saw Elisa’s ”masterpiece,” his first reaction was: ”What the hell is this supposed to be? An abstract map?”

”Are you messing with me?”

Su Xiao’s eyelids drooped, and Elisa backed away a few steps, squatting down and hugging her head.

”I really can’t remember that map. Don’t kill me.”

”Oh.”

Su Xiao turned and looked at the metal arch. Elisa had spoken out five numbers earlier, and along the edge of the metal arch there was a row of small holes. At the bottom on both sides of the metal door were a sun and a moon pattern.

The sun should represent the starting point, the moon the end.

Su Xiao extended the metal rod in his hand toward the third hole above the sun pattern. Only one fifth of the rod remained; it was about to be completely burned up.

As the green flame approached the third metal hole, a wisp of it was sucked inside.

Clack.

A crisp sound came from within the metal door: a lock opened.

Su Xiao’s eyes lit up. He then moved the green flame to the seventh metal hole. The green flame was sucked into the hole, and with another clack, the second lock inside the door opened.

After that came the eighth and the twelfth metal holes. Because the metal arch was too tall, Su Xiao had to climb up onto the metal door to ignite the eighth hole.

According to Elisa’s translation, there should also be ”15,” but there were only fourteen metal holes on the arch.

”Sun, moon.”

Su Xiao stood before the metal door, looking at the patterns on both sides at the bottom. If the sun was the starting point and the moon was the end, then what came after the moon? The answer was another day, when the sun rose again.

After pondering for a moment, Su Xiao extended the almost-burned-out metal rod toward the first metal hole.

Whoosh~

The green flame was sucked into the metal hole, and there was another crisp click.

Ding, ding, ding, ding...

Green flames ignited in sequence within all the holes on the metal arch, and the flame pattern at the center of the arch turned emerald green.

Rumble.

The metal door rose, and all the green flames on the door went out.

By the time the metal door was fully raised, Su Xiao was already gripping Dragon Slash tightly in his hand, the drawn blade angled down toward the ground.

Behind the metal arch was a passage six or seven meters long, and beyond the passage was an even larger open space. Hundreds of Undead Soldiers stood in neat ranks in that space, one pair after another of green eyes staring at Su Xiao.

Seeing this creepy scene, Elisa’s small face went deathly pale. She wanted to back away, but her legs were getting weaker and weaker.

Su Xiao grabbed the back of Elisa’s collar and tossed her toward A Mu behind him.

”A Mu, be ready to support me at any time.”

Su Xiao quickly moved to the outer side of the passage, observing the situation beyond it.

”Ka no ti (unknown language).”

All the Undead Soldiers let out a roar and charged toward Su Xiao. This time Su Xiao didn’t need Elisa to translate to know what it meant: ka no ti (Invaders).

Su Xiao stood his ground without moving, surveying the situation ahead. There were about five hundred Undead Soldiers, including over a hundred Shield Infantry, more than three hundred Long Spear infantry, and the rest were all Undead Archers armed with crossbows.

Compared to these Undead Soldiers, the burly Undead behind them was far more eye-catching. This Undead wore no Armor, its upper body bare, with only a pair of leather shorts on its lower body. Its whole body was knotted with muscles, and its bald head made it look even more savage.

This Undead was a full five meters tall. It held two iron rods in its hands—no, rather than calling them two three-meter-long iron rods, they looked more like a pair of drum mallets.

Su Xiao immediately used the Eye of the Apostle to check the information on this burly Undead.

[Comparing both sides’ Intelligence Attributes... you obtain the following information.]

Name: Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming

[Hint: Due to isolation by unknown energy, only the above intel is obtained.]

...

The muscles in Su Xiao’s cheek twitched. Something was off. Other than the name, the Eye of the Apostle hadn’t Reconnaissance’d anything at all. This was the first time he’d run into this kind of situation.

Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming didn’t charge at Su Xiao. It looked at Su Xiao from afar and actually bared its teeth in a grin at him.

Although it didn’t rush forward, that didn’t mean Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming was just watching from a distance. It raised the drum mallets in its hands and smashed them down toward the air in front of it.

Dong!

The sound of a drum rang out, as if an invisible drum had appeared in front of Angel of Sky-shaking·Ming. With that strike, a wave of sound spread outward.
