Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 373: Chapter 207: Sailboat Ruins_3

It precisely hit a zombie that was leaning against a wooden plank with its back to them. This time, Jason aimed not at the zombies’ heads, but at the junction of their necks and spines. After yesterday’s battle, they had learned the zombies’ weaknesses: not the head, but the spine—specifically, the area slightly below and between the shoulders. As the bullet penetrated this spot, the zombie twitched and then slumped sideways, its entire body falling directly to the ground. Looks like that took care of it.

Since the zombie’s death hadn’t made much noise, the other undead monsters nearby remained stationary, still as statues. After confirming there were no further issues, Jason continued pulling the trigger. He didn’t attack every zombie; he specifically chose those without constructed limbs. Such zombies were generally weaker, and a precise hit from a Holy Light Bullet could usually kill them in one shot. These weaker but numerous zombies were the most troublesome, so reducing their numbers first would give them an advantage in the upcoming battles. This would ensure they weren’t besieged. After a short while, Jason had cleared out all the visible, exposed, weaker zombies within his line of sight.

He then turned his head to look at Alka. Alka nodded, and Jason raised his gun once more. This time, he aimed at a zombie whose entire left arm and the missing parts of its right chest had been replaced with constructs. The appearance of such a zombie immediately indicated its strength—at least at the Four Spirals level. This was because both its arm and the construct on its left chest were very complete. The more complete the construct, the stronger the zombie, and the more effectively it could exert its original power.

According to the information Alka had gathered, most members of the two ships were above the Three Spirals level; almost none were still at the First Stage. At least on Simon’s steel ship, there were no First Stage members.

This time, the bullet embedded itself in the enemy’s chest but didn’t penetrate, so naturally, it didn’t hit the creature’s weak spot. Startled by the attack, the zombie abruptly awoke and turned its head directly towards Alka and the others.

HISS!

A responding cry echoed from the nearby wall, and another zombie poked its head out from a hole. The left half of this zombie’s head was also a construct. Compared to the rotten flesh on its right side, the left featured a single, crimson eye that flickered faintly. Its flesh-and-blood legs began to move, leaking some black, oily liquid with every step as it quickly ran towards them. This monster’s actions startled two other nearby zombies, which also rushed out at them. Then, it seemed to trigger a chain reaction. Another was roused and emerged from a corner. In total, five zombies were now rushing quickly towards them.

Fortunately, among these five, two had severely incomplete bodies; one was even hopping towards them on a single leg, occasionally tumbling over. Among them, the one with the most constructs on its body had started to jog and was rapidly approaching.

A red card flew out to meet it, embedding itself in the zombie’s fleshy right arm as flames erupted. The Cross Flame instantly ignited its body. It had already been proven that the black, oily liquid inside these monsters was flammable. The monster, now a flaming figure, continued to rush forward rapidly, seemingly largely unaffected by the blaze. A cloud of frost erupted from behind the monster. A zombie whose entire jaw had turned into a construct was spewing the cold mist. This frost mist immediately extinguished the flames on the ignited zombie in front of it.

”They can even cooperate!” Jason exclaimed in astonishment.

Then, a Fire Bullet shot out, targeting the zombie with the metal jaw that was hiding behind and spewing frost.

Three water-blue cards flew over. The erupting Water Chain completely immobilized the three zombies, the ones with constructed bodies. The remaining two had already been eliminated by Jason’s previous two shots.

Pororo, wreathed in water-blue markings, rushed at one of the trapped zombies—the one with a metallic left leg. With a slap of its huge palm, streams of water-blue energy crashed onto the zombie, knocking it back several steps. Breaking free from the Water Chain, it swung its dark green Magic Power at Pororo. Chadite charged at another one. Jason was responsible for supporting Pororo and Chadite from the rear. Both of them possessed Three Spirals strength, and the zombies they faced were also at the Three Spirals level. Moreover, these zombies moved slowly and possessed almost no intelligence, so with Jason’s covering fire, they could be dispatched quickly.

Meanwhile, Alka had already spotted the zombie in the center, the one with three mechanical constructs. It had an object glowing with blue light on its body. That must be the Guardian of the treasure with Five Spirals Difficulty, Alka thought. No wonder it requires Five Spirals strength; the item is right there on its body.

Several ribbons flew from the halo behind Julia, striking the monster’s body. Its metal left arm ejected dark green Magic Power, forming a peculiar Shield that blocked the attack. Then, its red, constructed left eye shot out an extremely fast red laser. It was aimed at Alka. The laser instantly severed two ribbons. Fortunately, Alka, who was further back, had already dodged to the side the moment he saw the red eye flicker.

The flesh on this monster’s body was charred black, yet a layer of Frost still covered it. But the Frost didn’t seem to affect its movements. However, its movements mysteriously slowed. A tendril of pink mist had spread from the ground, wrapping around its body. Two silver cards flew past, their edges glowing with a sharp, silvery light, and smoothly severed the monster’s legs. Still trying to raise its Shield, it immediately collapsed to the ground. The two remaining ribbons, along with two newly launched ones, combined to form a drill-like weapon. Aiming for a gap in the Shield, which had appeared when the monster fell, the drill-weapon penetrated directly. Its furious rotation stirred up a spray of filthy liquid. Metal shards and bits of flesh splattered outwards.
