Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 352: Chapter 200 Fear of the Dream Death God_3

With a little more time, he might be able to fully observe every aspect of the Dream Death God and thereby achieve a perfect simulation. Alka did not know what perfect simulation would bring. Recently, he hadn’t seriously observed other creatures in this manner; he lacked the time and the conditions. Perhaps a creature like the Dream Death God would be the first one he observed so thoroughly.

Wandering aimlessly, Alka discovered another Dream Death God; this was the third one he had seen. However, its appearance was unchanged: it was still cloaked in light and shadow, held a black Scythe, and was in the process of hunting. With its black Scythe, it sliced the Dream Bubbles of sea creatures, absorbing the pink mist particles that escaped from them.

Alka had seen such scenes many times. Thinking for a moment, a shard of the Mirror appeared in his hand. Carried along by the pink mist, the shard extended and secretly attached itself to the Dream Death God’s back.

However, an awkward situation occurred. Just as the pink mist enveloping the Mirror shard drifted towards the Dream Death God, the Dream Bubble it was cutting burst. The creature turned and saw Alka, who was hiding in the pink mist behind it, as well as the object Alka was extending towards it.

This situation made Alka’s heart skip a beat, as it was the first time he had been discovered by a Dream Death God in the Dream Realm. Previously, for the sake of observation, he had never been found, nor had he fought with the Dream Death Gods.

Upon seeing Alka, the Dream Death God reacted as if seeing a ghost, immediately retreating. It then transformed without hesitation into a stream of light and shadow, flickering rapidly until it vanished. From the moment it turned its head and saw Alka to when it disappeared, the entire process took less than three seconds.

Staring at the spot where the Dream Death God had vanished, Alka stood motionless.

”This...” Alka touched his head in confusion.

Why did it turn out this way?

I didn’t do anything.

He had considered that the Dream Death God might stand its ground, or perhaps launch an attack. He had even considered that he might be overpowered by the Dream Death God, resulting in his dream body shattering and waking him from reality as if from a Nightmare. But never had he imagined the Dream Death God would flee like a terrified ghost the instant it spotted him. This was exceedingly bizarre.

He knew the speed at which it transformed into light and shadow. He had witnessed such movements many times while observing another Dream Death God; they were typically only used for short-distance maneuvers during combat. Based on his observations, such light-and-shadow movements consumed a significant amount of Energy and were used only when absolutely necessary. Even when dodging lethal damage in battle, this ability was only used for short distances and as sparingly as possible. To put it simply, this swift transformation into light and shadow was likely the Dream Death God’s survival tactic, akin to its trump card.

Yet the Dream Death God he had just encountered used it without hesitation, covering a vast distance and disappearing from Alka’s line of sight in an instant. Such an exaggerated escape, according to the information Alka had gathered, would have been enough to completely exhaust that Dream Death God’s Energy.

Alka stood still, staring at the spot where the Dream Death God had vanished, his brow furrowed in thought as he pondered the reason for such an occurrence. The Dream Death God was extremely afraid of him, terrified enough to flee without a second thought, desperately trying to escape his sight. It was as if it had encountered a deadly natural predator and was fleeing for its life, where a moment’s hesitation could mean death.

Alka had a certain understanding of the Dream Death Gods’ combat prowess. They were at least at the Three Spirals level, if not higher. His own power was merely Four Spirals Second Stage. Even if he couldn’t defeat them, it shouldn’t have prompted such abject fear. Therefore, only one possible reason remained for the Dream Death God’s intense terror.

Alka lowered his head, gazing at the transparent Crystal Ball floating from his chest, which was filled with swirling, buoyant pink mist.

”Is it because of you?” Alka murmured, lifting the Dream Catcher.

He was already certain of it in his heart. After all, the Dream Catcher was so named because it enabled Alka to become a hunter within the Dream Realm. What defined a hunter? It had to be someone powerful enough to inflict harm upon most dream creatures to deserve such a title. Otherwise, they were merely prey.

When he considered how the pink mist within the Crystal Ball possessed such formidable suppressive power in the Dream Realm, along with various magical effects that seemed capable of granting wishes, it became understandable why the Dream Death God feared him so. The creature must have used some sense he couldn’t comprehend to detect the Dream Catcher on him.

Considering this, Alka stroked his chin, gazing in the direction the Dream Death God had fled. So, these Dream Death Gods display considerable intelligence, he mused. They might very well be sapient beings living within the Dream Realm.
