Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

For those inside Fenrir, these days aren’t easy.

Honestly, no one expected things to turn out this way.

Although, since the beginning, when Kalian forcefully demanded the investigation to end early, many already felt something was amiss. But they were used to following orders, so they didn’t dwell on it too much. However, what they didn’t expect was that the ”adventurers” Alisa brought back had more courage than they did, directly confronting the Minister!

Even after the Minister killed several of the leaders, the others didn’t retreat but continued to charge fiercely, causing them to eventually have to eliminate all these adventurers.

What can I say... It’s really surprising that Alisa could have such charm, making so many adventurers disregard their lives for her. It’s indeed quite shocking, even unimaginable.

For people in this world, this is something rarely seen. Of course, if someone is being used, a few fools could be caught in it too. But so many willing to sacrifice their lives for Alisa is indeed touching for some.

Plus, Kalian’s initially bizarre actions were already suspicious, hence the internal discussions about whether there truly was a problem between the Minister and Alisa grew more intense. Even though some veteran God Eaters warned them, it couldn’t silence everyone.

For Amamiya Ryōtan, this was also a headache.

He too noticed that Kalian seemed up to something odd, but Amamiya Ryōtan’s personality type is more composed. Originally, he wanted to infiltrate slowly, gaining Kalian’s trust first, and then investigating.

However, Alisa seemed more aggressive than him, fearing arousing Kalian’s suspicion, Amamiya Ryōtan didn’t intervene, but he also learned Alisa seemed to have obtained some critical intelligence from her aggressive actions. Yet... just as Amamiya Ryōtan was about to decide to privately talk to Alisa, she suddenly went missing.

And then, the rebellion of adventurers who had followed Alisa to Fenrir also greatly surprised Amamiya Ryōtan.

In fact, he too, like Kalian, believed those adventurers wouldn’t make a big deal just for Alisa. But what Amamiya Ryōtan didn’t expect was... they were so reckless.

The situation now is at a stalemate, Kalian often is nowhere to be found, while within there’s plenty of discussion, and outside those adventurers show no signs of dispersing.

But this stalemate isn’t good news for Fenrir.

Moreover...

”Captain Amamiya, I’ve heard there’s something called the Seed of the World that can restore this land to its original state, is that true?”

”I heard from those adventurers that Miss Alisa came back to discuss this matter with the Minister, but why is the Minister unwilling? Isn’t this a good thing?”

”Sigh...”

Just entering the hall, Amamiya Ryōtan once again faced questioning from a group of God Eaters, feeling quite vexed. Those adventurers seem to lack confidentiality awareness and crisis sense, practically grabbing anyone to chat indiscriminately — well, according to those adventurers, now the whole of Fenrir knows there’s something outside called the Seed of the World. If injected into the Core Reactor, it can restore vast lands centered around the reactor to their original state, and even the Wild Gods will completely disappear.

Such a claim sounds like a fairytale. At first, Amamiya Ryōtan and the others didn’t believe it, but as more people talked, they became somewhat skeptical. Moreover, according to those adventurers, Alisa returned this time to discuss this matter with the Minister.

Considering the Minister never disclosed anything on this topic, it’s unavoidably suspicious.

But this isn’t the most troubling for Amamiya Ryōtan. His biggest headache is... the brainwashing by those adventurers!

Yes, brainwashing!

Why is Fenrir under complete lockdown now? The reason is those adventurers don’t settle down at all. You can station soldiers to guard, and they’ll approach, drag those soldiers into conversations like ”Hey, do you know what’s happening? Let me tell you, actually, it’s like this and that...”

And if questioned why Kalian hasn’t informed them of such good news, these adventurers can even respond with phrases like ”Fenrir’s cohesion stems from material scarcity periods. Once abundant material surroundings appear, Fenrir’s status will be endangered, and Kalian’s fear-based governance tactics will fail blah blah...” — all very convincing phrases even for Amamiya Ryōtan!

This causes almost every soldier returning from duty to look at Kalian with strange eyes, and some even spread these rumors to friends and family, causing Kalian to have no choice but to seal the city — at this rate, internal chaos might erupt before external trouble arises.

This leaves Amamiya Ryōtan greatly speechless, those adventurers seem to be idle, instead of venturing into the Wasteland for survival, dragging people into conversations lasting hours?

How idle can you be!

Having finally managed to pacify the other God Eaters, Amamiya Ryōtan sighed and approached the counter, expressing his wish to meet Kalian, only to be informed again that the Minister is currently unavailable... At this rate, who knows what might happen!

Feeling somewhat exhausted, Amamiya Ryōtan decided to go out for relaxation. However, shortly after exiting the stronghold...

”Thud.”

A muffled sound echoed from a nearby alley, hearing this suspicious noise, Amamiya Ryōtan immediately frowned and looked towards the source, soon spotting several sneaky figures heading inside.

Who are they?

With this thought, Amamiya Ryōtan lightened his steps, quietly approaching and soon noticed several adventurers carrying a large human-sized sack, sneaking towards the city’s outskirts...

Is this... kidnapping?

”What are you trying to do!?”

Seeing this, Amamiya Ryōtan instantly stepped out and shouted angrily, and his sudden appearance also shocked the adventurers opposite.

”How are you guys here, and what’s that in your hands...?”

However, before Captain Amamiya could finish his sentence, he felt a strong impact from the back of his head, and then he lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground.

”All done, all done.”

At this point, a thief popped out from behind Captain Amamiya and breathed a sigh of relief.

”What should we do with this one?”

”Take him along! He’s an old hand; he must know something about this place!”

”No problem, let’s take him!”

Just like that, the players stuffed Captain Amamiya into another cloth sack and quietly took him away from Fenrir.

At this moment, Fang Zheng finally arrived at the ”player base” outside of Fenrir.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, you’re finally here. Where on earth have you been all this time?”

”Sorry, I’ve been busy with my own things.”

Of course, Fang Zheng wouldn’t tell them he had been busy dating girls all this time, so he directly veered away from Saten Reiko’s topic. If he said, ”Hahaha, I’ve been busy going on dates with all sorts of cute girls,” he’d probably get beaten to death by this group of young girls in front of him.

Though they obviously couldn’t really beat him to death.

”So Alisa hasn’t been found yet, right?”

”That’s right.”

”Alright then, I’ll go find Alisa. Also, about the matters here... are you in charge?”

”Absolutely not!”

Facing Fang Zheng’s question, Feli angrily kicked the table leg in front of her, breaking it.

”I don’t even know why things turned out this way! Why does everyone have to consult me about everything? Even if you take a step back, I’m just representing Jernie...”

Feli was also quite upset about it, she couldn’t figure out how she inexplicably became the leader of these people!

”Feli, little sister, we’re back!”

Yet, before Feli could finish speaking, a few players rushed in from outside and threw two cloth bags onto the ground.

”This is...?”

”Look, didn’t we say there wasn’t anyone who knew about the situation in Fenrir before? So we kidnapped two people out; they must know a lot about Fenrir’s internal affairs! Feli, little sister, how did we do?”

”...........”

Looking at the two cloth bags on the ground, Fang Zheng was silent, then looked at Feli.

”You’re even kidnapping people?”

”I am not, no no no no no!!!!”

With a roar of anger, Feli kicked heavily at Fang Zheng’s shin. The next moment, her expression changed, and she crouched down, trembling as she hugged her foot.

Well, some people never learn.

Fang Zheng patted Feli on the head and looked towards those players.

”Thanks for your hard work, I know the situation here now, and I’ll go find Alisa.”

”Oh, we’ll leave it to you then.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, the players naturally thought this was the restoration of an NPC after the quest had ended, and they left with smiles. But even as they departed, Fang Zheng could still hear words like ”Wow, Heavenly Dao Palace’s top boss is out, it’s a main quest!” ”Definitely a main quest, quickly notify the guild brothers, we might end up battling a siege just like before!” ”Main quest rewards are plentiful, can’t miss this for sure!” and such chaos.

Though, that is to be expected...

Anyway, better find Alisa first.
