Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1593: Chapter 1591: What’s the Point of Fighting? (Ate Too Much, My Brain Can’t Function)

For this sudden task, players were all surprised, but at the same time, they were very excited.

Because in previous games, although everyone was doing tasks, there was no interaction between them.

For example, if a team defeated the Dark Temple, others could still fight there. Even after Illidan was first killed, he would still stay there. Simply put, everyone’s game progress was individual; no matter how great you were, you couldn’t affect the world itself.

Even if you have already killed Arthas, taken down Illidan, and smashed Gul’dan, this world was still invaded by the Scourge Legion and attacked by the Burning Legion, Outland remained under Illidan’s rule.

Frankly, aside from the instances, it didn’t have much impact.

But now it’s different!

Their choices are now impacting the Game World in real-time!

Through exchanges on the forums, players discovered that since this task was released, there was no situation where only players who completed tasks beforehand could receive task prompts; players who hadn’t completed tasks could still follow the routine. On the contrary, regardless of whether players had completed previous tasks, they could no longer find those NPCs. Only by going to Nagrand did they find that all of them had gathered before a huge, rotating crystal, where new tasks were being issued.

And those previous collection tasks could no longer be completed!

This brought complaints from many newbie players, but for many players, it was an unexpected delight. It was the first time they encountered an event that truly impacted the entire game world’s progress, and their interest was immediately piqued. For a while, many players logged in and began to make their choices.

Truthfully, this choice was quite hard for many players.

Some players proudly waved the banner of ”Beauty is Justice” and joined the Azure Fleet. Many players considered their origin, so they chose the Alliance and Horde.

Besides these two extremists, others were somewhat indecisive.

Players who value the storyline discussed whether the Azure Fleet was the main faction or the villain faction, while those who prioritize benefits pondered which side would give them more gain or what choice would cause less loss. They preferred to watch others’ choices first before deciding.

The result desired by the latter soon came, and shortly after, a player posted that after joining the Azure Fleet, all of his original faction’s reputation immediately became hostile, and he couldn’t go home. Even using a Hearthstone to return would result in being ganged up and beaten to death by guards immediately.

Conversely, choosing the original faction not only increased reputation with all the original factions’ forces but also allowed them to buy mounts at a much lower price than usual. The only loss was entering a hostile state with the Azure Fleet, and the next tasks seemed to be out of the question.

With this knowledge, the majority of fence-sitters made their decisions, and most players chose to stay in their original faction. Only a few thrill-seekers, or those who had already maxed out reputations with other forces and obtained everything they needed and were bored, remained as lone players.

As for those organized guilds, they played it safe and didn’t switch to the Azure Fleet faction.

However, at this time, on the GNA forum, a player who loves to study the storyline posted an article titled ”Don’t you think this task is very odd this time?”

In the post, the player analyzed as follows.

”To be honest, I didn’t look carefully at the task descriptions at first, but after I reviewed them carefully, I found something strange. Everyone might have done the Azure Fleet’s tasks; I did a round too. From start to finish, they only entrusted us ’adventurers’ to collect and gather some materials. These things are also required by other tasks or NPCs. According to the Azure Fleet, they’re just here to investigate this world’s ecological environment, and in fact, they are indeed doing so...”

Here, however, the player’s tone shifted.

”However, the reactions of the Horde and the Alliance are very intriguing. According to logic, generally, the Alliance and Horde shouldn’t care about such a neutral faction, just like the Star Realm Consortium, they wouldn’t provoke them. If it’s the Draenei, they’d even receive invitations from both sides. But their reaction to the Azure Fleet is very intense, not only that, if you look carefully at the task prompts, you’ll find a strange issue... that is, the Horde and the Alliance claim the Azure Fleet is invading their world, and they’re fighting to protect the world, but...”

At this point, the player was evidently confused too.

”But this is Outland, everyone has done the storyline tasks, and we should all know that the Alliance and Horde arrived here through the Dark Gate. Strictly speaking, we’re invaders to Outland too. What right do we have to protect Outland from other invaders?”

This post, unsurprisingly, attracted a lot of player interest and discussion.

”Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit odd. Outland isn’t Azeroth, why are the Alliance and Horde overreacting so much?”

”I don’t think the Azure Fleet did anything wrong. If it were me going to another planet for ecological research and got inexplicably hunted, I definitely wouldn’t have a friendly chat; I’d sort them out first.”

”Are the leaders of the Alliance and Horde out of their minds?”

”I was still hesitating, but it seems joining the Azure Fleet is the true way now!”

”Stop spamming; it’s about to start!”

With this reply, the players who were merely spectating quickly returned to the game, only to find that, unbeknownst to them, the Alliance and Horde had already amassed a large army and were marching towards Nagrand. The players’ tasks had also been updated to follow the army to the Nagrand assembly point.

It’s no use talking about anything else now. If it were the usual task format, everyone would just do their own thing without worrying about wasting time. But the situation is different now; this is a real-time event, and once you miss it, it’s gone. So the players quickly made their choices and headed to the gathering point.

Players who joined the Azure Fleet went to Voshugu, where the girls were already prepared, and they saw four huge Crystal Towers hovering around them. As these players who joined the Azure Fleet entered the map, they immediately received a mission.

Protect the four Crystal Towers from destruction.

Almost simultaneously, players from the Alliance and Horde also received their mission.

Which was to destroy the Crystal Towers of the Azure Fleet.

The battle started almost instantly.

Although the number of players who chose the Alliance and Horde was the majority, those who joined the Azure Fleet were not easy to deal with either. More importantly, the players who chose the Azure Fleet had almost all completed the previous rounds of investigation tasks, and their main weapons were already upgraded. Some hardcore players had even started crafting combat armor. From firepower to defense, the two sides were not on the same level.

It’s common to see a group of Paladins and warriors charging at the Crystal Towers, and then the Azure Fleet players sweep them with either assault rifles, sniper rifles, or automatic rifles, quickly killing off the unlucky ones, faster than lining up for execution. Hunters can’t even reach the range of these weapons, and although the Mage’s magic had some effect, under the Psionic Field of the Crystal Towers, it was weakened by ten percent, causing the health drop on the players to be almost single digits.

Players from the Azure Fleet enjoyed using high-tech to bully the Middle Ages natives, whether NPCs or players, they were all swept away and killed, their honor points skyrocketing, making observers green with envy.

Finally......!

”Boom!!”

As another group of players cooperated with the NPC army to prepare to charge, suddenly, a ball of fire erupted from their ranks, directly engulfing the NPC Orc army along with the players.

”What the heck is that?”

Seeing this, many players were shocked. As they rushed to look ahead, they saw on the opposing side... a heavy tank?!

That’s right, it was Thunder in the Crotch, taking advantage of his Hunter role to harvest a lot of honor, and then exchanged it for the ”Scorpion” heavy tank he most wanted from the Azure Fleet faction!

Seeing this, the opposing players suddenly exploded.

”Damn! How are we supposed to fight that?!!”

”Is that a vehicle? Are you kidding me?”

”My Arcane Missiles only dealt single-digit damage? Is this a vehicle? It’s a BOSS!!”

However, for these players, the nightmare had just begun.

Thunder in the Crotch’s exchange also reminded the Azure Fleet players, who went to the girls and used their honor points to exchange various vehicles. Some shameless players directly chose to exchange for Ghost Fighters—they not only could fly in the sky, but also fire!

This left the Alliance and Horde players dumbfounded. Although they had flying vehicles, theirs couldn’t attack!

Soon, those players who were circling in the sky on the battlefield were shot down by the Ghost Fighters, while the lucky ones quickly chose to flee. And those on the ground had it worse; players piloting Ghost Fighters descended low and fired at them, frustrating the players who couldn’t fight back or escape, directly becoming honor points.

As time ticked by, even though the Alliance and Horde side kept refreshing NPC legions, the players still couldn’t hold on.

Finally, under the protection of the Azure Fleet players, the Radiance of the four Crystal Towers reached its peak and then converged together, shooting straight into the sky.

The next moment, accompanied by a flash of golden Radiance, a massive, almost sky-spanning Metal Warship appeared before everyone.

”What the...!”

Seeing this, players on both sides were completely stunned.

”How are we supposed to fight this!”

Looking at the Metal Warship in front of them, one of the Alliance players threw down his weapon. The Horde players nearby did the same, except for the NPC legions, which continued to crazily advance like robots executing orders.

The next moment, a dazzling laser sprayed out from the pitch-black large gun muzzle, sweeping across the entire prairie.
