Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1581: Chapter 1579: AIR (It Just Feels Off Without ”Ben Chapter Says”)

”External infiltration has been stopped! The B-type protective barrier has been deployed, preventing external infiltration for the next 62 hours!”

”Hmph.”

Upon hearing the report, Fang Zheng finally put down the keyboard in his hand. Although in the original story the defense against external invasion was carried out by Ritsuko, Fang Zheng did not intend to let Ritsuko appear. Just like in the original, Ritsuko Akagi destroyed Rei Ayanami’s duplicate and was subsequently imprisoned, and Fang Zheng had no intention of letting her out.

After all, that woman is deeply in love with Gendo Ikari. If she finds out that Gendo Ikari is dead, god knows what insane things she might do; it’s better to just keep her confined.

As for the problem here... Fang Zheng can solve it with his personal terminal.

If seizing the MAGI is ineffective, then next up, that group will likely choose to forcibly attack.

”Rip—!!”

Indeed, as soon as Fang Zheng turned this thought over, he saw the monitoring screen on the large screen in front of him quickly begin to change, each image instantly turning into snowflakes. Simultaneously, the urgent voice of the report rang out again.

”Radars eight to seventeen are unresponsive! Special Technical Unit is infiltrating from the Gora defense line direction!”

As expected.

Fang Zheng and Misato Katsuragi exchanged glances, then Misato stepped forward.

”Everyone, first battle readiness! Completely seal off headquarters! Destroy all ground paths!”

”Yes!”

Actually, theoretically, NERV is quite defensible. Its headquarters are located underground in the Great Hollow. To infiltrate underground from the surface, one needs to pass through various paths. Once these paths are cut off, surface troops can only jump or stare helplessly.

However, in the animation, the opposition was clearly prepared, having infiltrated early and mastered the paths, which is why they directly attacked NERV headquarters. But for Fang Zheng... he doesn’t need to worry about NERV facilities.

Right now, NERV’s task is to delay time, so... just blow them all up!

”Forward! Forward!!”

JSSDF soldiers in black combat uniforms, weapons in hand, lowered their bodies and quickly charged into the building ahead.

”Report! South relay station secured! No enemies found! The path to headquarters is being suppressed!”

”Hehe.”

Standing in front of the screen, watching the JSSDF soldiers on the display, Colonel Lin Youde chuckled.

”Didn’t expect to have a chance to fight these brats, I thought going to Old Tokyo was just for retirement, but now it seems we still have a role to play...”

”Report! The enemy has entered the encirclement!”

”Excellent.”

Upon hearing the report, Colonel Lin Youde nodded and then waved his hand abruptly.

”Operation White Trojan Horse begins! Detonation initiated!”

”Yes!”

A flash of fire.

”Boom—!!”

The next moment, with the mushroom cloud and fire soaring into the sky, the earth shook instantly.

”What exactly happened?”

The JSSDF’s commander was shocked and furious, seeing clouds rising in the distance.

”It’s a trap! They’ve placed bombs at the ground relay station! All paths to the underground headquarters have been destroyed! The first and third assault units suffered heavy losses, the fifth and twelfth units have lost contact!”

”Damn.”

Hearing this, the commander’s expression turned grim.

”Those NERV guys are pretty capable...”

In an instance, the battle became deadlocked. As Fang Zheng had anticipated, though the JSSDF is a regular combat unit, they are not good at digging tunnels. Facing the directly bombed ground paths, they were also helpless. However... Fang Zheng also clearly understood that the opposition would not give up so easily.

After all, they have a secret weapon.

”———!!”

Brilliant flashes fell from ten thousand meters high, followed by an enormous white flash bursting instantly, engulfing the entire Tokyo-3.

”Attacked by N2 bombs!”

With red lights flashing non-stop, the desperate shouts of staff echoed in the combat command center. Fang Zheng just leaned back in his chair, hands in pockets, watching the frenzy of changing red alerts, with a mouth twitch.

”Didn’t expect they really would use N2 bombs, JSSDF are madmen.”

Seeing the scene before him, Colonel Lin Youde was quite surprised, then shook his head. He indeed knew the target of this operation plan, to be honest, previously, Colonel Lin Youde was somewhat skeptical about this. But now, he had confirmed the intelligence he received was true, the opposition was willing to use N2 bombs in human warfare, clearly not considering any fallout.

”Looks like these guys genuinely want to occupy the NERV headquarters...”

But this wasn’t the end.

The N2 bomb completely destroyed Tokyo-3, sweeping away all defenses above the underground headquarters, and then dozens of missiles dragged white smoke from the sky, covering the entire underground headquarters in a barrage of artillery and explosions.

”Didn’t expect those people really meant it...”

Sitting inside EVA, seeing the scene of devastation before her, Asuka was stunned.

”To be honest, when Fang Zheng talked about it in the beginning, I thought he was just scaring us...”

”Me too...”

Shinji Ikari also nodded, to be honest, this scene brought greater shock to Shinji Ikari than the Angel Envoys, of course, in terms of intensity, humans couldn’t compare to Angel Envoys. But in fact, before each battle, Tokyo-3 would evacuate citizens, so it was just like Ultraman and monsters in tokusatsu, they destroy numerous buildings but there isn’t much reaction.

However, this time the situation was completely different.

The opposition directly destroyed the entire Tokyo-3!

”Right!”

Thinking of this, Shinji Ikari was startled.

”Where’s Suzuhara? Are the class rep and the others okay?”

”I just checked, they’re in the fifth underground shelter.”

Asuka quickly replied.

”So this is our battlefield.”

”Yeah..........!”

Hearing this, Shinji Ikari’s eyes became resolute. If his father’s death had left him somewhat at a loss before, now he had found his goal. Other matters can wait, right now, protecting his friends is what matters!

”They’re coming!”

At that moment, accompanied by Rei Ayanami’s voice, dozens of helicopters swiftly flew in from outside the Great Hollow.

”I’ll take the lead! Take this!!”

With Asuka’s roar, Unit-02 immediately leaped forward, grabbing a helicopter that hadn’t reacted, smashing it to pieces. Then she ripped it in half and hurled it left and right. Soon, the armed helicopters on either side that hadn’t dodged in time were hit and exploded instantly.

”Boom boom boom!!”

Meanwhile, Unit-00 also raised its gun, beginning to snipe at the airborne aircraft.

”EVA detected, all three are present!”

”Destroy them!!”

Soon, several fighter jets flew overhead, launching massive missiles towards the three EVA units.

”Idiot Shinji!”

”I know!”

Unit-01 dashed forward, reaching out towards the incoming missiles.

”AT Field, full power!”

The orange AT Field expanded instantly, blocking the missiles like a barrier. The next moment, the missiles exploded upon hitting the AT Field, yet the EVAs behind it remained unharmed.

”Keep attacking! Attack!”

”Hit the cables, target their power supply lines!”

The JSSDF wasn’t foolish, intending to disable the EVAs by attacking the power lines. But this wasn’t the movie where Asuka fought alone. Shinji Ikari defended with his AT Field, Rei Ayanami provided cover, and Asuka spearheaded the assault, leaving the JSSDF fighters no chance.

Soon, the JSSDF’s infiltration team was wiped out by the three EVA units, which emerged unharmed.

SEELE could no longer sit still upon witnessing this.

”Despicable existence, EVA, do you intend to obstruct us again?”

”It seems we have to fight fire with fire.”

”---------!!”

A sharp cry, akin to a bird’s song, echoed across the sky.

”What is that?”

Shinji Ikari looked up, surprised to see several massive, white-winged, birdlike entities descending from high above, circling the air and surrounding the three EVA units.

”The EVA series? They’ve been completed?”

Asuka was also quite astonished at the sight of these creatures. Just then, a voice rang out.

”Don’t just stand there, these are our biggest enemies!”

With this voice, they saw a girl with a flaming red ponytail wielding a greatsword appear before them.

”Get ready to fight!”

”You didn’t have to tell me!”

Asuka snorted softly, picking up a nearby halberd, while Rei Ayanami grabbed a shield and sword.

At this moment, Fang Zheng’s voice echoed in their ears.

”Be careful, these EVA mass-production models aren’t ordinary. Unlike you, they’re equipped with the S2 system, giving them infinite energy. The best method is to destroy their core and insertion plugs, similar to dealing with the Angel Envoy.”

”Insertion plug? But Mr. Fang Zheng......”

”Don’t worry, there’s no one inside these insertion plugs, they’re using the Puppet System. Of course.......if you can’t bear it, just aim for the core.”

”I understand.”

Hearing this, Shinji Ikari was relieved, then looked up, staring ahead. The nine mass-production units were slowly descending to the ground, wielding their huge blades, glaring at their prey like evil spirits from Hell.

”Phew......”

After speaking, Fang Zheng frowned slightly.

Controlling Red Ponytail without transforming is a bit taxing, akin to dual-boxing in an online game; even if one is in auto mode, you occasionally need to check it, right?

Avoiding a split personality is already fortunate.

”Well then, let’s begin.”

With this thought, Fang Zheng closed his eyes, focusing his consciousness back on Red Ponytail.

What’s coming next is the main act.
