Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1582: Chapter 1580: The Concluded Battle (A Cat Who Only Wants to Play With Its Tail Instead of Updating)

For the three of them, dealing with the EVA mass production models was much simpler than dealing with the Angels———Of course, this was within Fang Zheng’s expectations. After all, in the movie, Asuka piloting Unit-02 with only four minutes of power was able to destroy them all. If Asuka hadn’t known that these mass production models could be reborn with the S2 engines inside them, they would have been dead and beyond saving.

And now... it’s the same as well.

”Aaaaaaah!!”

With a roar, Unit-02 grasped its halberd and charged directly into the arms of one of the mass production models, thrusting the weapon through its chest. Then Unit-02 twisted and pulled the halberd, wrenching the S2 engine out of the mass production model like a barbed hook. Unit-02 casually tossed it aside and then stomped on it, shattering it into fragments.

The mass production model, devoid of its S2 engine, shuddered violently before collapsing motionlessly to the ground.

”Hoo!”

Just at this moment, another mass production model let out a strange cry as it raised the greatsword in its hand and leaped to attack Unit-02 from behind. No sooner had it swung the greatsword down, than Unit-00 raised a shield to block its path. With a loud clang, the hefty greatsword embedded itself into Unit-00’s shield. Unit-00 took this opportunity to sidestep, and as the mass production model lost its balance, cut off its head with a single strike.

As the mass production model tumbled to the ground, Unit-00 raised its longsword again, piercing the core and forcefully stirring to annihilate it.

Unit-01 was not to be outdone, flipping agilely to dodge another mass production model’s sweeping strike. It then dashed forward, swinging the longsword in its hand. With a spray of blood, the mass production model’s legs were severed, causing it to lose balance. But before it could fall, Unit-01 charged into its chest, pinning it firmly against a nearby wall.

”Nice work!”

Seeing this, Asuka gleefully gave a thumbs up to Shinji and Rei, to which Shinji gave a slight smile, and Rei simply nodded.

”But still, it’s not quite as good as her.”

”......”

Hearing Rei’s response, Asuka’s expression stiffened a bit, but she quickly recovered.

”We’re not going to compare ourselves to a monster; she doesn’t even count as human, right!”

As Asuka spoke, she looked towards the battlefield where the Red Ponytail was.

If the battles between the EVAs had any reservations, there was nothing left against the Red Ponytail. These mass production models, with their massive bodies, couldn’t hit the girl who was as small as a mosquito. Their futile attempts to swing their blades were all in vain.

The flaming greatsword, forty meters long, mercilessly sliced through their bodies and AT fields alike, not even giving those mass production models a chance to regroup, burning them completely into ashes.

Against such an enemy, Asuka was powerless. She knew very well that if she faced the Red Ponytail, she would be split in two in a single strike.

As the mass production models were swiftly defeated, SEELE’s plan... was completely foiled.

”What? All nine EVAs destroyed? Are you kidding me!”

At that moment, in a distant operations command center, an old man was staring coldly at the screen.

”That’s impossible, how could this be, why on earth......”

However, before the old man could finish his sentence, the tightly shut door burst open, and a group of soldiers charged in with their guns, surrounding the old man.

”What are you doing?”

Seeing this scene, the old man frowned, and at the same time, another man appeared behind the soldiers.

”Kiel Lorenz, you are under arrest for unauthorized use of EVA, launching a ground offensive against NERV, and suspected involvement in triggering the Second Impact!”

”What did you say?”

Upon hearing this, the old man was momentarily stunned, then seemed to understand something, letting out a long sigh as he stood up.

”I never expected, after all this scheming, to falter at this final step.”

Muttering to himself, the old man raised his head to look at the soldiers.

”But don’t think this is the end... Humanity... ultimately still needs deities...”

”Put your hands down!”

Seeing the old man’s actions, the soldiers immediately raised their guns, but before they could make any further move, the old man clenched his right hand.

The next moment, scorching flames erupted, exploding from the old man’s body, engulfing the entire command room.

Led by Kiel Lorenz, all fifteen SEELE executives were arrested. Some, like Kiel, chose self-destruction upon capture, while others were apprehended peacefully and detained by the League of Nations. They were charged with various offenses, including unauthorized use of the finished EVA mass production models and attempting to trigger a Third Impact under the guise of the Human Instrumentality Project.

But of course, the most severe charge was conspiring and orchestrating the Second Impact!

This was also the main reason why Fang Zheng was able to ultimately overthrow SEELE. The Second Impact could be considered the greatest catastrophe in human history, and the upper echelons of various countries were extremely outraged by it. Initially, they believed it to be a natural disaster, but the current investigation results revealed it was not a natural disaster, but a calamity created by human hands!

Fang Zheng collected a vast array of data, recordings, and videos as evidence, and delivered these to the League of Nations high officials in his capacity as a UN envoy.

It’s imaginable how angry the survivors of the Second Impact would be upon learning the truth.

Indeed, they were very angry.

Out of SEELE’s fifteen high-ranking members, all who did not commit suicide upon capture were put on military tribunals and sentenced to death for ”antihuman crimes.” At the same time, the League of Nations officially announced this information worldwide and initiated a comprehensive arrest operation against SEELE members—Fang Zheng had long prepared a list using ”Ratziel,” leaving none behind from top to bottom.

How the world will develop next is up to them.

As for Fang Zheng himself...

With the loss of nine mass-produced EVA units and the capture of SEELE’s executives, the JSSDF’s operations were immediately halted. This allowed everyone else to breathe a sigh of relief, as they simply didn’t want conflict with national military here.

But this does not mean there will be no reckoning.

Kozou Fuyutsuki and Ritsuko Akagi were arrested; they were implementers and accomplices of the Human Instrumentality Project, and the League of Nations would naturally not let them go. NERV’s facilities were completely sealed, and all staff were forcibly dismissed. Because the JSSDF previously attacked NERV under SEELE’s influence, they too had to pay the price.

After Old Tokyo, the harmless little bunny as the solid support of the League of Nations and for its role in preventing NERV from being occupied by SEELE, was granted Tokyo-3 for 99 years as a reward—well, this is an unspoken secret between Fang Zheng and the bunny.

Now, the bunny has already started the reconstruction of Tokyo-3. Of course, the underground space will be completely filled, and NERV along with everything else will be thoroughly cleaned out. This somewhat saddens the NERV staff, but... at least they are not on military tribunals, and they are quite satisfied.

After all, upon discovering SEELE was the mastermind behind the Second Impact, most people at NERV were equally thunderstruck by this fact. Not to mention NERV somehow collaborated with SEELE intending to trigger a Third Impact, to destroy humanity?

Goodness, is the place we work at this dangerous?

Thankfully, because these workers were of lower rank, most of them were let off; some chose to leave, while others decided to stay and help rebuild Tokyo-3.

”With this, everything is more or less concluded.”

Standing in the underground Great Hollow, looking up at the pitch-black starry sky outside, Fang Zheng spoke softly. Then he turned his head to look at the boys and girls behind him.

”Are you ready?”

”Of course, I’ve been ready for a while, Fang Zheng.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Asuka nodded.

”The Heavenly Dao Palace you mentioned sounds so divine, I really want to see what kind of existence it is.”

”Me too.”

Misato Katsuragi was also staring at Fang Zheng as she spoke.

”I also want to see whether what you’ve been talking about is true or false... After all, up till now, I’ve seen nothing.”

”Soon you will.”

Upon hearing Misato Katsuragi’s response, Fang Zheng smiled slightly, then he raised his head again.

”The time has come.”

Just as Fang Zheng’s words fell, suddenly everyone saw the night sky above their heads twist abruptly, followed by a gigantic metal warship that silently appeared above!

”Wow!”

Seeing this giant warship suddenly appear, Shinji Ikari was so frightened his legs went weak, he almost fell to the ground, while Misato Katsuragi was stunned, standing there perplexed, not knowing what to do. Although she had been told by Fang Zheng, even so, even though Misato Katsuragi had prepared herself psychologically in various ways, witnessing this scene, she still felt unparalleled shock and surprise.

Soon, a beam of light shot out from above, landed beside Fang Zheng, and then transformed into a petite Fleet Girl.

”Reporting to the Commander, Guard Level Akashi-class reporting in.”

”Yes, well done, you should already know the mission... Where is Stone Village?”

”Right here, Commander.”

Suddenly, a voice sounded quietly behind Fang Zheng, only then everyone was surprised to find an eerie pitch-black straight-haired girl had appeared beside them at some point, which startled them as well.

”You are still as elusive as ever... ”

Looking at the ghostly Stone Village emerging from behind, Fang Zheng was rather calm.

”Alright, let’s begin the relocation work... We only have three hours.”

”Understood.”
