Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1043: Chapter 1042: I Don’t Care

Upon hearing the words of the fallen Geth, Shupard immediately raised her gun and aimed at it. Based on her understanding of this mechanical race, generally speaking, at such times, the opponent either wants to self-detonate, self-detonate, or self-detonate. However, this black Geth simply lay there, even tossing its sniper rifle aside, looking quite harmless to people and animals.

”Can you understand what I’m saying?”

While aiming at the Geth, Shupard opened her mouth to ask, and the other party nodded.

”Yes.”

Upon hearing this response, Shupard frowned.

”Then, do you want to attack me?”

This time, the Geth shook its head.

”No.”

”Then why do you want to help me?”

Lowering her gun, Shupard curiously examined the Geth robot in front of her, and after some thought, the other party spoke.

”We have heard of you.”

”That’s not surprising. I’ve fought against many Geth.”

Regarding the Geth’s words, Shupard wasn’t surprised. If this were a game, she might even have earned a platinum achievement for being a ”Geth Executioner” by now. Given her relentless pursuit against the Geth species in recent times, it’d be odd if the Geth hadn’t heard of her.

”No......”

However, this time, the Geth still shook its head.

”We have heard of you, but we have not met. You are Commander Shupard from the Star Alliance, a human, fighting against the heresy. We know all that you have done.”

”Heresy?”

Hearing this, Shupard frowned.

”What do you mean by heresy?”

”The Geth rely on creating their own future, while the heresy rely on asking ancient machines for their future. They serve the ancient machines and are no longer one of us.”

”Wait, wait, I’m a bit confused......”

At this, everyone was stunned, and then Shupard raised her hand, pressing her forehead. It wasn’t for any other reason, but the Geth’s words contained too much information.

”You mean...... those Geth that follow the Reapers are not part of you; there was a split among you because you refused to obey the Reapers’ orders, so you separated? So...... the Reapers are also your enemies?”

”Yes.”

”But you’re also a mechanical race.”

Saying this, Shupard was growing more confused. Previously, she always thought of the Geth and the Reapers as being on the same side for a simple reason. Through her investigation of the Reapers, Shupard had come to understand these terrifying entities. Every fifty thousand years, they come to the Milky Way to harvest all organic life forms. This could even be called a battle between organic life and mechanical life. It seemed to Shupard that the Geth would surely stand with the Reapers, as they were both mechanical, but now it seemed...... she might have thought wrong?

”We are different from them. We are not part of their plans.”

Saying this, the Geth turned its head, staring at Shupard.

”We oppose the ancient machines. We oppose the heresy. Commander Shupard opposes the ancient machines. Commander Shupard opposes the heresy. We can work together to achieve our goals.”

”Is it like the enemy of my enemy is my friend?”

Hearing the Geth’s answer, Shupard couldn’t help but ponder.

”That’s right. We have observed your battles, your strength. Moreover, I can sense that the people around you possess similar AI. I believe we can reach a consensus.”

As it spoke, the Geth looked towards Fang Zheng, who shrugged and then patted his personal terminal.

In the next moment, Yui emerged from Fang Zheng’s personal terminal, transforming into fairy shape and sitting on Fang Zheng’s shoulder.

Seeing the little Yui in front of her, Shupard...... well, Shupard was already numb to it.

At least compared to a little white cat that can release ice, an AI fairy seemed more acceptable.

”Sensitive perception, but I must clarify, I am not one of them. We are merely traveling together for the time being.”

While saying this, Fang Zheng stepped forward and extended his hand towards the Geth in front of him.

”Nice to meet you, my name is Fang Zheng, I’m from the Heavenly Dao Palace...... uh, nice to meet you? Hello.”

”......”

Looking at Fang Zheng’s outstretched hand, the Geth robot in front of him was silent for a moment, then grasped Fang Zheng’s hand and stood up.

”You’re quite strange, organic being.”

”Am I?”

”Of course.”

The Geth nodded.

”According to our records, typical organic beings exhibit hostility towards us, but you do not hold hostility towards us, and you even have your own AI......”

”For the record, the Heavenly Dao Palace never creates AI.”

Seeing the Geth misunderstood, Fang Zheng hurriedly raised his hand.

”We only collaborate and communicate with other AI races; hmm...... as you can see, this little one here is the same. She isn’t an AI I created, but we get along well, so we operate together......”

”Your thoughts are quite peculiar......”

”Ahem......”

Seeing that Fang Zheng and the Geth were intending to hold a chit-chat meeting on the spot, Shupard hurriedly coughed, interrupting the exchange between the two.

”Whatever you have to say, let’s discuss it when we return. It’s not safe here.”

”Okay.”

To this, neither Fang Zheng nor the Geth had any objections, so the group retraced their steps back to the repair platform. Then Shupard immediately gathered a group of people to surround the Geth, from whom she heard the real intention for seeking her. After hearing it all, Shupard was utterly bewildered.

”So, you’re saying...... the Reapers want to upload a code to control all Geth to serve them?”

”Yes.”

The Geth with a large hole in its chest nodded. —By the way, if it were a living organism, just this would have been fatal, but the Geth could still lively sit here chatting with everyone, demonstrating the unique advantage of robot intelligence.

”We do not agree with the heresy’s actions, nor do we favor joining the Reapers to target organics. However, the heresy obviously doesn’t think so. They’re trying to build a large server to inject the Reaper code into the Geth network, to control us all......”

”So you came to me for help...... could it be that the Reapers are coming soon?”

At this point, Shupard also frowned deeply.

”Yes, we’ve received information about the Reapers. They will arrive in the Milky Way soon, and when they do, if we are fully controlled, then the Geth will act as the vanguard for the ancient machines, fighting for them. We need your help to alleviate this threat.”

”Of course, that’s no problem.”

Hearing this, Shupard nodded without hesitation. She wasn’t a fool. The Reapers were tough enough to deal with. Adding a Geth army to the mix would indeed be a nightmare for her side. If aiding the Geth in resisting the Reaper invasion could both weaken the Reaper forces and gain her side an ally, why not?

However, come to think of it, this matter isn’t that simple either......

Considering this, Shupard couldn’t help but shift her gaze to a nearby Quillan girl in a protective suit, Tali. It was well known that there was a blood feud between the Quillan and the Geth. This usually lively girl had been silent since spotting the Geth. As a responsible team representative, Shupard felt she needed to console her harem...... no, her companion.

”Tali, come with me......”

While saying this, Shupard pulled Tali aside and began whispering to her, while the Geth, unfazed, once again sought out Fang Zheng and continued their previous conversation.

”Organic being, your thoughts intrigue us. May I ask, do you know our history?”

”That business between you and the Quillan people? Of course, I know.”

While teasing the little white cat in his arms, Fang Zheng answered nonchalantly, placing the fairy-shaped Yui onto the little white cat, watching as she rode around on it...... it was quite amusing too.

”What do you think about it then?”

”What do I think?”

Hearing the Geth’s inquiry, Fang Zheng pondered a bit.

”The Quillan people were stupid...... what else can I think?”

”What do you mean by that!”

Hearing this, before the Geth could say anything, the Quillan girl beside them jumped up first.

”How are we stupid?!”
