Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1017: Chapter 1016: Being a Domineering CEO Suits Me Better

Fang Zheng almost returned to the Heavenly Dao Palace as if he was fleeing in panic.

Moreover, he had secretly made up his mind that he wouldn’t go out again for a short while.

To be honest, the result of this action was still smooth. As it stands, most of the top brass of the Doomsday Church have been eliminated, and because their actions were discovered by the Church, a new round of strikes against Doomsday has begun. Right now, those bastards don’t have time to bother him.

But... Fang Zheng does have a sense of shame, okay?

Although he transformed into the appearance of Diablo to dance in the square, at that time Fang Zheng really had no other choice. Although it was awkward and a black mark in history, it was better than the two sides actually fighting, right?

But even though the matter ended smoothly, Fang Zheng felt that his fragile little heart was still severely hurt.

So not long after returning to the Heavenly Dao Palace, he decided to reflect on his actions and return to the Game World... to continue being his overbearing CEO.

At least until he could shove this black history trip to the back of his mind.

But before that, Fang Zheng came to the Synapsus Academy once again.

”Master.”

The Little Angel, who had received the news, had been waiting outside for a long time. Seeing Fang Zheng’s figure, she hurriedly smiled and trotted to his side.

”You’ve worked hard, Nymph. How is the progress?”

Touching Nymph’s little head, Fang Zheng asked. Nymph nodded, then opened her personal terminal and handed some data to Fang Zheng.

”It is completed, Master. Look, this is the terminal I made based on the information from that world and CC Corporation’s research progress. It meets your requirements on all levels.”

As she spoke, Nymph stretched out her hand and waved in the air. Soon, her fingertips began to flicker, and in no time, a small and convenient creation appeared in the Little Angel’s hand.

Its appearance looked like a headphone, except there was a small microphone on the right side, and it wasn’t like an ordinary over-ear headphone but more like the type that hangs on the ear. The pure white color paired with a small, sci-fi design looked quite nice.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, what is this?”

Seeing this little gadget in front of her, Eiriri curiously leaned over and asked. She, Asuna, and Black Cat were now regulars at the Heavenly Dao Palace; it could almost be said that the three were nearly so content they didn’t want to return. Eiriri was easier since she could persuade her parents by acting spoiled to get permission. But Asuna wasn’t so lucky; her curfew was very strict. Although the time flow between the two worlds was different, Asuna still hurried back and forth each time.

However, the busiest one was still Black Cat. To be honest, what surprised Fang Zheng was that ever since she really started learning Magic, Black Cat no longer showed her previous chunibyo side; instead, she seemed just like an ordinary student. Moreover, her studies at Hogwarts were exceptionally serious. According to Asuna and Eiriri, Black Cat’s grades in their world’s school were also quite excellent.

This was quite surprising for Fang Zheng. He originally thought that after learning Magic, Black Cat would become even more chunibyo. He didn’t expect her to become more normal? What is this twist?

”This is my AR prototype to replace VR equipment.”

Fang Zheng said as he handed over the headphone in his hand.

”Give it a try.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Asuna and Eiriri exchanged curious glances. Then Eiriri reached out to take the headphone and put it on her head. Following Fang Zheng’s guidance, she gently tapped on the side of her ear, and in the next moment, Eiriri widened her eyes in surprise.

”Huh? It seems like something appeared in front of me... What is this? An interface? A system?”

”This is the new AR device and will be CC Corporation’s main product moving forward.”

Looking at the astonished Eiriri, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but smile.

Although Yuna’s father has great research in AR, he is just a scientist. Transitioning any product from the lab to mass production requires a lot of processes and improvements. In fact, the black technology in the laboratories is more advanced than people imagine, some even reaching the standards of sci-fi movies, but the main reason people don’t know about these is that the cost of these black technology products is too high to be mass-produced.

Shigemura Takuo is also a professional researcher and scholar. His work has been the theoretical improvement and basic manufacturing process in AR. As for industrializing it, Fang Zheng left it to Nymph to solve.

As it turns out, the Little Angel did not fail in her mission.

”Unlike Stealth devices, it does not block human nerves but uses an electrical interchange to mildly interfere with and stimulate the nerves in the brain. To put it simply, it’s like a mirage appearing before your eyes.”

Fang Zheng explained the manufacturing problem clearly in a few words. He and the Little Angel had investigated the principle thoroughly, and to be honest, Fang Zheng was never optimistic about methods that involved nerve severance. Although this setting is often used in web novels, it’s dangerous if something goes wrong.

After all, in a completely Stealth state, humans have no sensation at all. At this time, if no one is watching over, and a thief or robber comes in to kill you, you wouldn’t be able to react. At least when sleeping you could have some response, but the risk of complete Stealth is far too high. To be honest, Fang Zheng was always curious about how Kayaba Akihiko’s broken contraption passed safety checks.

To say nothing else, just considering the danger of ”a fire breaking out at home during complete Stealth” would be enough to completely negate it, wouldn’t it?

In fact, the reason Fang Zheng chose to enhance his power in the Game World, besides the reason that Eiriri and others were there, he had his own ideas.

That is, scientific experimentation.

As we all know, latecomer advantage in technological research is quite significant. Of course, other countries might impose technology blockades on you, but at any rate, they’ve already proven the feasibility of certain paths, like jet engines being better than propellers, or nuclear fission reactors being much more efficient than thermal power. Once you know the result, just following the results to find a path is more convenient, at least it helps you eliminate a large part of incorrect options, so you don’t waste extra time and money on unverified paths.

But when you’re at the forefront of research, it’s hard to say.

Because there are no answers or results ahead; every research aim and topic has to be decided by yourself.

Like, does a Spaceship use electric or chemical propulsion, is a Non-Matter Engine or Gravity Engine better? These things are hard to draw conclusions on before you have results.

Even the design of the hydrogen bomb involved several different routes, and as a result, the explosive power, shelf life, and consumption all differed. If you wanted to compare which one is slightly better, you’d have to detonate it... hmm, let’s not bomb it after all.

But it’s clear that the information society is undoubtedly the future mainstream.

VR doesn’t work, both the Little Angel and The Matrix of Hackers world have given Fang Zheng this answer. The black technology in Synapsus, where the Little Angel is from, allowed people to effortlessly reset the entire universe according to their wishes. Ultimately, after realizing there was no ”absolutely perfect world,” they despairingly chose to sleep, casting their consciousness into multi-worlds they conquered to play role-playing games.

And The Matrix of Hackers world ended up reducing their outer space exploration due to excessive immersion in VR technology, so that when disasters struck, all they could do was helplessly escape.

Moreover, virtual reality is ultimately ”virtual,” which is why Fang Zheng is not optimistic about the future prospects of VR.

Although it’s easier for people to indulge in virtual reality, virtual reality itself is just data, as fragile as something that could be thoroughly wiped out just by smashing the server. It’s uncertain now, but who knows if a figure like ”Kayaba Akihiko” would someday appear, manipulating or destroying others’ brains by hacking into servers?

Just to mention, in The Matrix, if Fang Zheng wanted to kill the people there, he could just have the Little Angel hack the Motherbody and issue a self-destruct command to solve it, slaughtering more people than a world war, in less time than execution.

So Fang Zheng resolved to use Asuna and others’ world as a testing ground to experiment with the development of AR technology.

After all, Huaxia men ought to fight the heavens and earth; building ships to flee is something only Abraham wimps do, not worth mentioning.

Compared to creating virtual worlds for people to escape reality to, why not enhance reality, creating a world more ”science fiction” than a virtual world? Isn’t this better than just building models and settings?

Therefore, Fang Zheng decided to establish the AR industry in the Game World and use it as a testing ground. If everything goes smoothly, the future research and development path of the Heavenly Dao Palace could be determined too.

Moreover, the enhancement and development of information in reality actually have many overlapping parts with the Forerunner’s technology, which can also be better utilized.

Of course, forget about the Recombination Device.

Not only that, but the AR equipment specially equipped for Asuna and others by Fang Zheng also has a unique function.

”Close your eyes and recite the command you use to enter Stealth games.”

”A command?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Eiriri was a bit curious. She then closed her eyes and softly muttered.

”Link Start!”

As Eiriri spoke, her body suddenly burst into a dazzling seven-colored brilliance, causing Asuna to exclaim softly when she saw this scene.

At this moment, what Eiriri was wearing was not her usual daily outfit but her equipment from the Game World!
