Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1038: Chapter 1037: What Happened to the Promised Tough Battle?

Shupard had considered that these two little girls possessed combat capabilities, after all, since Fang Zheng had dispatched them, he must have confidence in their combat prowess.

But even so, Shupard never imagined it would be this exaggerated—kicking a Geth Mecha to pieces?

Shupard couldn’t do such a thing, neither could the Krogan People, known for their strength!

Wait a minute, what about that little girl named Midori?

Thinking of this, Shupard hurriedly turned to look in Fumie Busei’s direction. Then, she saw an agile and ethereal silhouette flash before her eyes. Midori leaped high, with sharp Light Blades appearing in her hands, and as two Radiances crisscrossed, the next moment, another Geth Mecha was directly sliced into pieces, scattered like debris on the ground.

When did the Geth Mecha become this weak?

Watching the scene unfold, Shupard was somewhat doubtful of her life. She recalled her first encounter with the Geth Mecha, where she was driven to a corner. Those things had ferocious firepower and two layers of Shield protection. Without Liana and Tali to help break the Shield and overload, she wondered if she’d have any chance of defeating them.

But now... Could this be a mass-produced knockoff?

”Boom!”

As Shupard was lost in her thoughts, she saw the third Mecha raise its rocket launcher, launching an attack at them. Shupard quickly pushed Kaiden aside and rolled in the opposite direction. A whistling rocket exploded beside her, the powerful impact knocking Shupard away, and at the same time in Shupard’s eyes, her Shield was instantly depleted, and the red warning flashed to life.

Ah, this familiar sensation... it’s the real thing!

No time for sentiment, Shupard hurriedly rolled over and got up, taking cover while raising her assault rifle to fire a barrage at the Geth Mecha in front of her.

”Clang clang clang.”

The bullets hit the Geth Mecha, immediately ricocheting off, and witnessing this, Shupard instinctively shouted.

”Tali, overload... Tali... oh, damn, she’s not here.”

Patting her head, Shupard remembered she didn’t bring Tali this time, the Quillan was in the rear repairing the Normandy!

”Kaiden, throw a grenade and blast that thing’s Shield!”

Avoiding the Geth Mecha’s Vulcan Cannon fire, Shupard hastily issued the command. After all, this isn’t a game. You can’t expect your cover to be sturdy enough to withstand a nuke blast unscathed.

”Got it.”

Upon receiving Shupard’s command, Kaiden quickly took out a grenade. But before he could throw it, they heard a loud shout, and Nobiru suddenly descended from the sky, kicking the Geth Mecha’s head. The blue flash representing the Shield instantly dissipated, and the heavy armor, capable of withstanding bullets, twisted and deformed like parchment.

Immediately, the Geth Mecha fell to the ground like a stomped milk carton, motionless.

”Haha, all done!”

Nobiru flipped off the Mecha’s wreckage, flashing a victory sign with a big grin.

”Hiss......”

Seeing this, Shupard couldn’t help but take a deep breath, turning to look at Kaiden and Liana, who were also staring wide-eyed beside her.

”Liana... what do you think? Is this some sort of... Special Ability?”

”Seems so... I’m not quite sure...”

Facing Shupard’s inquiry, Liana, the blue-skinned girl, was also in disbelief.

”Even among the Alisa people, it’s rare for someone to use Special Abilities to this extent. Maybe a Punisher could do it, but...”

”At least I know if a Krogan competes with this little girl, they’d meet a miserable end.”

Looking at the rifle, Kaiden quipped.

”Alright, let’s continue exploring.”

Shupard, being a soldier, stopped overthinking. After all, her companions all seemed to have some strange abilities. Of course, Fumie Busei and Nobiru’s strengths exceeded Shupard’s expectations, but at least they were on her side. So Shupard shouldered her gun, gave a thumbs up to Nobiru and Midori, which delighted them immensely.

After eliminating the Geth ambush, the team quickly reached the warehouse mentioned in the diary, where Procen relics were stored. Shupard extended her hand, activating her omni-tool, and opened the blocked door.

”Beep... beep... beep...!”

With the warning sound, the door slowly opened, revealing a strange crystal orb suspended in a container.

”Is this the thing those Geth are after?”

Fumie Busei and Nobiru approached curiously. Looking at the strange orb, Nobiru puckered her lips.

”Strange, the Geth took over the Space Station, so why leave this thing here? Why not take it away?”

”Not good!!”

Originally, Shupard had a faint sense that something wasn’t right. Hearing Nobiru’s comment, it finally dawned on her. She quickly retreated.

”Get back!”

However, before Shupard could finish her words, a flash filled her vision. Simultaneously, she heard the wind whizzing past her ears, and her body seemed to float as though weightless, losing balance. When Shupard regained her senses, she was already at the entrance of the warehouse.

Fortunately, Nobiru and Fumie Busei reacted swiftly. The moment Shupard spoke, they immediately took action, grabbing Shupard and the others’ armor, rapidly retreating.

Luckily, they moved in time. Just after they escaped, the little orb exploded, but fortunately... no one was injured.

”Phew... thanks.”

Gazing at the round gaping hole that nearly consumed half the warehouse, Shupard exhaled sharply and patted Nobiru on the shoulder.

”I owe you my life! Little girl!”

”You’re welcome, big brother said we’d protect you!”

”Roar...”

But before they could exchange more words, growls suddenly echoed from all around, and Shupard’s comm sprang back to life.

”Shupard, bad news, the dock is under attack!”

”Who are the enemies!?”

Upon Tali’s report, Shupard was shocked.

”Is it the Geth?”

”No, it’s the Corpse Puppets!!”

”Roar———!!”

As if to confirm Tali’s report, dozens of creatures suddenly crawled up from the hole onto the walls. They appeared almost identical to Zombies, but their bodies were embedded with wires and electronic devices, and their eyes gleamed with blue light. They charged with madness, like beasts!

”Immediate retreat! Let’s head back!”

Shupard raised her gun, headshotting a charging Corpse Puppet, then loudly gave orders.

”It’s a trap!”
