Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1039: Chapter 1038: Time to Raid! Time to Raid!

Meanwhile, the crew repairing the Normandy also faced an attack from the Corpse Puppets.

The previously empty dock was now swarming with Corpse Puppets, crawling up and down like ants, surging from all directions towards the Normandy.

The crew repairing the Normandy quickly took cover and formed a defensive line under Gelas’ command, picking up weapons to fight back.

Though the Normandy’s crew was brave, they were still significantly outnumbered and were forced to retreat continually. If this kept up, they wouldn’t be able to save themselves, let alone the Normandy.

”This won’t do.”

Watching the battle outside, Fang Zheng shook his head and then glanced at the little guys beside him, smiling slightly.

”Alright, you all go and help.”

”Got it! Let’s go, Illya!”

Hearing this, the impatient Little Hei immediately grabbed Illya and rushed out of the cabin, with Kurumi and Yuki following closely behind, while Eiriri widened her eyes, looking at Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, can we go too?”

”Of course, just activate your Hard Light Armor and fight like in the Game World.”

Gently stroking the kitten in his arms, Fang Zheng nodded.

”This will serve as a test for you guys. Remember, the Creatures in the game world are completely different from those in reality... Let’s see if you are qualified for frontline combat.”

”Hehehe... I’ve been waiting for this!”

Hearing this, Black Cat also chuckled coldly, then stretched out a hand to cover her right eye. With a flash of Pitch Black Radiance, she reappeared in front of everyone, wearing the Dark Moon Sword uniform and wielding a scythe.

”Let me savor their death and despair!”

Watching Black Cat lead the charge, Asuna and Eiriri exchanged a glance and reluctantly followed.

”Good luck.”

Looking at the backs of the group leaving the cabin, Fang Zheng waved his hand. Indeed, there were quite a lot of Corpse Puppets here; from Fang Zheng’s senses, there were thousands of them. However, Fang Zheng was not worried. He had just observed that these Corpse Puppets, aside from being a bit fast, were basically no different from Zombies. For the people of Heavenly Dao Palace, they seemed perfectly suitable as ”little creatures” to get familiar with battling enemies in this world.

As for himself...

”Mmm... so comfortable.”

Changing his position, Fang Zheng lounged on the sofa, watching the screen in front of him. He cradled the kitten and Little Bai, with Little Fire Dragon climbing on his back, and began to hum a song.

”... A chicken in my left hand, a duck in my right, with a little baby on my back, yi ya yi er ai...”

While Fang Zheng sang and watched with contentment, the frontline had already plunged into a critical state.

”Left side! Hold the left defense line, don’t let it collapse!!”

Gelas raised the Black Widow Sniper Rifle in his hand, firing several shots in succession to shoot down several Corpse Puppets climbing over the barrier, while shouting loudly.

”Lex, get up there and help!”

Lex was a tall and mighty Krogan; his appearance was like a large, upright walking, muscular frog. He roared, holding a shotgun, and charged straight at the Corpse Puppets, sending them flying as though hit by a heavy truck with the overwhelming power characteristic of the Krogan Clan. Instantly, the surrounding enemies were cleared.

However, this was far from enough.

”Tali, how much longer do you need?”

”I need forty-eight hours, maybe more!”

”We don’t have that much time!”

Hearing Tali’s response over the communicator, Gelas snorted.

”Get ready; when Shupard gets back, we’re leaving...”

”That’s impossible. The Normandy hasn’t been repaired yet; forcing a launch could result in an accident...”

”But we can’t hold on any longer...”

”Ha ah ah ah ah aa!!”

However, before Gelas could finish speaking, he suddenly heard a loud shout, followed by the sudden appearance of a small figure wrapped in thunder and lightning. It was a human girl, dressed in clothes unfamiliar to Gelas, her long purple hair flowing in the wind, and she wielded a Greatsword that seemed completely out of proportion to her. Gelas watched as the girl leapt from the air, charging into the battlefield with sword in hand, then swung the sword.

”Swish———!!”

A purple sword light instantly swept across the battlefield ahead, slicing dozens of Corpse Puppets in half, making it evident there was no chance for survival.

”What is... this?!”

Seeing this, Gelas was stunned, having never seen any race employ such a combat style. Of course, as a Turui elite and a warrior, Gelas was aware of ”sword” as a weapon. But in the Interstellar Era, no race used this type of weapon in combat anymore. Even the Batarians, who seemed like they crawled out of a trash heap, used firearms for battle. However... these mysterious outsiders still used weapons that should theoretically be ”obsolete”?

Very soon, Gelas discovered this wasn’t an isolated case.

Hot on the heels of the charge was a little girl with white hair and brown skin, wielding two black scimitars, charging into the Corpse Puppets array without hesitation, slashing them down as if they were harmless plants.

Beside this dual-bladed girl was a child with a similar appearance, gripping a Longsword shining with golden light, fighting the Corpse Puppets with systematic precision.

Following them, Asuna, Eiriri, Black Cat, and others also joined the battle.

With everyone’s efforts, the situation began to rapidly change.

”They’re really amazing.”

Because the Corpse Puppets’ attacks weren’t as intense as before, Lex also joined in, watching the slaughtering girls with its reptilian-like eyes and nodded in satisfaction.

”Though they’re a bit skinny, their courage is commendable. If they were among the Krogan, they’d become the finest mates and mothers, and their offspring would be just as brave!”

”Alright, now is not the time for such talk.”

Gelas clearly didn’t want to stay on this topic any longer; there were more important tasks at hand.

”Quickly regroup, we don’t know how many more Corpse Puppets there are...”

The battle continued.

Although the Corpse Puppets were numerous, powerful, and fast, they posed no problem for the girls from the Heavenly Dao Palace.

Yuki and Kurumi were the first to adapt to the battlefield, and as Heroic Spirits, Illya and Little Hei were also unbothered. The Cursed Children, who had fought Intestinal Creatures in the Pitch Black World more than once, were even less concerned by comparison, finding these Corpse Puppets not much of a threat.

However, for Asuna, Eiriri, and Black Cat, this was a completely new experience.

In the Game World, they had fought for their lives against monsters, but those creatures would vanish into Photon Particles upon defeat, so for them, the monsters they killed weren’t real living beings but merely game data, just monsters.

But now, these Corpse Puppets were clearly different.

They weren’t game-generated creatures; weapons could cut into their flesh, blood spraying, and the stench of decay was palpable. After being killed, they didn’t vanish into Photon Particles but instead became actual corpses.

But now, Asuna didn’t care about these things.

In the moment she picked up the sword, Asuna found herself slipping back into the mindset she had in the game. To her, these Corpse Puppets were just enemies, and her task was to annihilate them completely!

”Swish!”

The Rapier pierced through like lightning, penetrating a Corpse Puppet’s head. The burst of air shredded its skull, while the rotating Sword Qi tore its brain apart, sending a stream of air howling out. However, Asuna didn’t even have time to consider her enemy’s state before quickly withdrawing and dodging another Corpse Puppets’ attack.

Right after that, Black Cat leapt forward, her scythe sweeping through like a reaper, clearing the Corpse Puppets ahead.

Few noticed that the girls’ movements had become increasingly fluid as they fought, evolving from initial hesitation to assuredness.

They were transforming.

Into real warriors.
