Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 962: Chapter 962: Faulty Judgment

Anthea quickly went upstairs, carrying a cloth as she entered the study.

The door was wide open, and a quaint aroma filled the air. The bookshelves were lined with famous books, and the walls adorned with paintings she couldn’t comprehend.

At this moment, on the master bedroom balcony, David Dalton was sitting in an armchair.

The laptop on his lap displayed the live feed from the study, crystal clear and covering every angle.

After Anthea entered, she went straight to tidying up the desk, starting by organizing a few documents.

David Dalton watched her as she casually picked up the Jade Pendant, examined it for a second, then opened a drawer and placed it inside.

The entire process was natural, with nothing unusual; she didn’t even give the Jade Pendant a second glance.

What?

Could his judgment be wrong?

David Dalton stared at the surveillance feed, furrowing his brow with doubt growing silently inside him.

He watched the woman finish tidying up the study, thoughtfully closing the door before leaving.

”She’s not Justin Kingston’s person?” David Dalton murmured quietly, starting to doubt his own judgment.

Was he being paranoid?

But Justin Kingston’s reaction upon seeing the Jade Pendant that day was clearly unusual...

”David.”

The man turned his head at the sound, seeing his wife enter through the doorway, and casually closed the laptop screen.

”Have a glass of milk, it’ll calm your nerves.”

Joan Graham was gentle and considerate, with an especially good temper.

She always wore a soft smile, ”You seem really tired lately, working overtime for so long.”

”Yeah.” The man took the cup, ”How’s Ethan doing with his studies?” He brought up their son’s topic.

”He’s learned over a hundred Chinese characters already and doesn’t get confused when playing with the cards,” Joan sat across from him, feeling quite relieved, ”The teacher said he’s made great progress recently.”

”Sigh!”

The middle-aged man looked outside at the rain pouring harder, listening to the sound of wind and rain. He had a child late in life, only to have a foolish one.

This disappointment could only be understood by those who experienced it firsthand.

Joan gazed at him unblinkingly, summoning the courage to tentatively ask, ”David, should we... have another son?”

The man focused on her, his deep and handsome features still youthful, carrying an elegant but somewhat elder charm between his brows.

His wife, Joan, was much younger than him.

Seeing her previous words seemed to have startled him.

Joan quickly smiled and changed her tone, ”I... I didn’t mean anything else, I just feel it’s a pity not having given you a healthy son.”

But David Dalton knew very well, she was worried about having no heir to the family business, right?

”I’m still young.” David Dalton told her, ”I’ve spent my life fighting for my passion, until the day I die. But these things can’t be taken with me, I just enjoy the process of striving, as for the outcome...”

A flicker of imperceptible sorrow flashed in Joan’s eyes. Why did he still think this way?

Over the years, he really hadn’t changed at all.

”Don’t worry.” David Dalton took a sip of the warm milk, ”No matter if I’m here or not, you and Grace and Ethan will never want for anything in life.”

”David, I’m sorry.” Joan felt apologetic, ”I made you overthink.” She had heard this phrase three times in her life.

Every time she heard it, it struck at the heart. She accompanied him in his struggles, quietly being a woman behind the scenes, only to end up with just being financially secure.

The next morning, the rain stopped.

David Dalton had a meeting in the morning, so he got up early. As soon as he stepped into the washroom, he frowned, ”When was my new toothbrush replaced?”
