Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

For a while after that, Madara did not come out to cause trouble.

Although the situation in the shinobi world was becoming increasingly tense, the major shinobi villages remained restrained.

War had not broken out. It was as if they were waiting for the right opportunity to arrive.

During this time, Konoha held another Chunin Exams.

This Chunin Exams was far less lively than the previous one.

The participants were almost all Konoha shinobi.

Many of the Genin who had graduated in the same batch as Seiryū were already qualified to participate in the Chunin Exams.

Many familiar friends and classmates took part.

However, after several rounds of competition, not many shinobi were promoted to Chunin in this session.

Every Chunin Exams had a fixed quota for Chunin, generally no more than two digits.

Among the Genin from Seiryū’s batch, only Seiryū, Kakashi, and Guy stood out and successfully became Chunin!

It was truly something worth celebrating.

At this moment, in the Yuhi family home.

”The system is releasing tasks with increasing difficulty now. Even a challenge from the ’Commoner Genius’ Kakashi can’t trigger the system to release a task anymore…”

Seiryū, who had been a Chunin for some time, temporarily stopped his training and sat on the steps.

He looked up at the blue sky and could not help but sigh. ”As expected, whether the system releases tasks is somewhat related to my strength.”

”Nothing has happened recently…”

”Daily life lacks any sense of crisis. Has the system gone on strike too?”

It was very likely because his strength had already far surpassed his peers.

The system no longer triggered tasks from challenges by those of the same generation.

Or perhaps daily life lacked enough danger, so the system had selectively gone on strike.

Regardless, the last task had been when he encountered the ”captain-level missing-nin” Madara in Kusagakure.

That had been quite some time ago.

In another two months or so, the New Year would arrive again.

However, the system’s selective strike allowed Seiryū to live a relatively leisurely life.

At most, he had been busy for a while participating in the Chunin Exams.

For the rest of the time, he had not even gone out on missions.

There was no helping it.

Because of Madara’s appearance, Konoha had become very vigilant and cautious.

On top of that, Seiryū had already been targeted by Madara. Leaving Konoha rashly would likely carry risks.

Thus, Seiryū ended up with free time.

”I wonder when that wicked woman Tsunade will master the perfect Sage Mode. She’s still being mysterious about it even now…”

Seiryū recalled another matter.

Tsunade attached great importance to Senjutsu.

She had been working hard on her training during this period.

However, Seiryū did not know how far Tsunade had progressed.

He only knew that Tsunade had already mastered an imperfect Sage Mode.

What Tsunade wanted was a perfect Sage Mode where no abnormalities could be seen on the exterior.

This was not a simple matter.

In the original work, there were only a few people who had mastered the perfect Sage Mode.

It was related to one’s own talent and whether one was compatible with Senjutsu.

”Her talent isn’t that great either. She still hasn’t fully mastered it after so long…”

Seiryū shook his head and sighed, sounding quite disdainful of Tsunade’s talent.

”Uh, I can’t really criticize her. There are some Kidō that I still haven’t found the specific conditions or factors for, so I can’t reproduce them in this world…”

Seiryū muttered to himself, feeling a bit of a headache.

The previous task reward had been the intermediate Hadō and Bakudō collection.

Naturally, Seiryū began researching them.

However, there were many Kidō among them that he could not perform.

They lacked specific conditions or factors.

Take, for example, the ice-related Hadō #30: Shō and Hadō #66: Hyōga Seiran.

Seiryū could not reproduce these two Hadō in this world.

There was also Hadō #35: Dokuga Rekkō.

Based on its principle and application, if he reverse-engineered the effect, it was a lightning pillar that could be controlled to turn.

What kind of Storm Release was this?

In addition, Hadō #19 and Hadō #51, Kidō similar to flying slashes, were also something Seiryū could not reproduce.

Seiryū had obsessive-compulsive tendencies and a collector’s habit.

Being unable to reproduce and master these Kidō made him feel extremely uncomfortable. It felt stifling!

”The condition and factor for ice-type Kidō must be the Ice Release Kekkei Genkai.”

”Ice Release is a Kekkei Genkai that combines Wind Release and Water Release. Logically speaking, elemental Kekkei Genkai can be developed by oneself. They shouldn’t require a specific bloodline.”

”If I could see Ice Release with my own eyes, perhaps I could discern some of the mysteries within.”

Seiryū continued to ponder.

Elemental Kekkei Genkai could be developed and trained independently.

They were different from physical Kekkei Genkai.

Hadn’t the Second Tsuchikage, Mū, developed Dust Release, a Kekkei Tōta, by himself? He was a pioneer!

Kekkei Genkai could be inherited through bloodlines, allowing descendants to possess those genes and making it easier for them to awaken that Kekkei Genkai.

But they could also be mastered through specific training methods.

One could develop a Kekkei Genkai on their own and then benefit future generations!

Therefore, during this time, Seiryū had been attempting to fuse Water Release and Wind Release into Ice Release.

However, he could never find the technique or the trick.

The main reason was that Seiryū had never seen a shinobi perform Ice Release.

Relying on himself to explore it step by step was countless times more difficult than the Rasengan, which incorporated nature transformation.

”Forget it. I’ll continue. I don’t believe it. I’ll figure out Ice Release eventually!”

This stirred up Seiryū’s competitive spirit.

There was no reason others could develop Kekkei Genkai or Kekkei Tōta, while he, a transmigrator, could not!

Seiryū continued grunting and working away at ”unlocking” Ice Release.

Time passed amid training and attempts.

It was not until Kurenai came over to call him for a meal that Seiryū stopped.

”Are you still working on developing Ice Release? Didn’t Father say that trying to develop a Kekkei Genkai on your own is countless times harder than the S-rank Lightning Release Ninjutsu Kirin you mentioned before?”

Today, Kurenai was as cute as ever.

She wore a small red kimono, her hair tied into a little ponytail. She was already a young girl, no longer with short legs. Her slender, well-proportioned legs were covered in black over-the-knee socks.

She looked youthful and lively!

”No matter how difficult it is, there will come a time when I conquer it!”

Taking a subtle glance at Kurenai’s legs and feet wrapped in over-the-knee socks, Seiryū nodded in satisfaction.

Kurenai had better and better taste in clothes.

Black over-the-knee socks really hit the spot for him!

In the future, he would find a time to have that wicked woman Tsunade wear them and try them out!

Black stockings would be even better!

Seiryū smiled smugly. ”I am a genius. I’ve already developed that S-rank Ninjutsu, Lightning Style: Kirin. Do you want to go to the Forest of Death later and see it?”

The Lightning Style: Kirin that he had once envisioned had indeed been developed and perfected by Seiryū.

He could perform it.

Speaking of which, this S-rank Lightning Style Ninjutsu developed by Sasuke in the original work could only be used perfectly after Seiryū learned the Mind’s Eye of the Kagura from Hina.

Just as Seiryū had thought.

Adamantine Sealing Chains combined with Bakudō #63: Sajō Sabaku had transformed into Fullbring: Heaven’s Chain!

And after the Mind’s Eye of the Kagura combined with Bakudō #58: Kakushitsuijaku, some interesting changes also occurred.

Seiryū called it Vollständig: Heavenly Eye!

Vollständig: Heavenly Eye was a special Sensor-type Ninjutsu.

It could present everything within his perception range in his mind in the form of a 3D projection.

It was like seeing everything within his perception range from a god’s-eye view!

Insight, perception, and dynamic vision were all significantly improved.

The special god’s-eye view also gave Seiryū something similar to the Byakugan’s 360-degree field of vision and X-ray effects.

And it was an enhanced version at that.

This was also the reason Seiryū felt that as long as he could see Ice Release performed with his own eyes, he might be able to understand the mysteries within.

Vollständig: Heavenly Eye! had powerful effects and functions!

Although it was not a Dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai, in Seiryū’s view, it was not necessarily weaker than Dōjutsu Kekkei Genkai like the Sharingan or Byakugan!

At the very least, most of the things the Sharingan and Byakugan could do, Vollständig: Heavenly Eye could also do. And there were some things Manifestation Technique: Heavenly Eye could do that the Sharingan and Byakugan could not!

”Braggart!”

Kurenai subconsciously retorted, curling her feet slightly as her cheeks flushed.

Still looking, still looking?

Did he really think she did not know about Seiryū’s little fetish?

Suppressing the shyness in her heart, she blinked her adorable eyes and urged him with a blushing face. ”Go eat quickly. Today, there’s food you like. I made it myself!”

”As expected of my cute and invincible little sister!”

Seiryū rubbed Kurenai’s little head.

Getting closer, Seiryū could smell a faint fragrance coming from the little girl.

It was like body wash mixed with other scents.

It was not pungent. On the contrary, it was very pleasant!

Kurenai did not reject Seiryū rubbing her head. Instead, she seemed to enjoy it a little, happily narrowing her eyes. ”Hee hee! Of course! I, Kurenai, am the cutest!”

”Yes, yes!”

Seiryū smiled.

He first went to take a shower, then later came to the dining table to eat breakfast.

The situation in the shinobi world was becoming increasingly tense, which also meant that Konoha shinobi rarely left the village to carry out missions.

Shinku had also been relatively free recently, chatting with Seiryū while eating.

After eating breakfast, Seiryū returned to the backyard.

He wanted to continue trying to develop Ice Release, but discovered an inexplicable force trying to take him away.

”Huh? Is this Reverse Summoning Jutsu?”

It was a fluctuation of Space-Time Ninjutsu, but it was somewhat different from the Flying Thunder God Technique.

Seiryū realized this was Reverse Summoning Jutsu!

Currently, Seiryū only had a summoning contract with Shikkotsu Forest.

The only one capable of performing Reverse Summoning Jutsu was the Slug Sage of Shikkotsu Forest.

”Could it be that the wicked woman’s Senjutsu has made progress?”

Seiryū immediately had a guess.

So he shouted to Shinku and Kurenai in the inner room, ”Uncle Shinku, Kurenai, I’m heading to Shikkotsu Forest. You don’t need to worry!”

Having said that, Seiryū did not resist the power of the Reverse Summoning Jutsu.

With a poof, his figure turned into white smoke and disappeared.

His vision blurred, and when it focused again, Seiryū found himself in an unfamiliar place.

It was located on a mountaintop that seemed to have been leveled and eroded into flat ground.

On this mountaintop, there was also a building that looked like a temple. It was ancient and dilapidated, bearing the marks left by the passage of time.

”Is this Shikkotsu Forest?”

Out of curiosity, Seiryū’s perception was instantly released.

Manifestation Technique: Heavenly Eye captured everything within his perception range, constructing a 3D projection in his mind.

No detail could escape Seiryū’s perception.

This was a special environment, like a hidden paradise isolated from the world.

The surroundings were full of water vapor, and in the distance, small lakes were scattered irregularly, containing extremely dense natural energy.

Farther away, mountain peaks rose from the ground, surrounding this flat valley.

All kinds of peculiar, towering plants could be seen growing around.

The entire world presented a vibrant appearance, different from the scenery of the outside world!

Shikkotsu Forest, one of the Three Great Sage Regions!

In Shikkotsu Forest, what caught Seiryū’s attention the most was the Slug Sage, whose huge body was like a mountain. Even the surrounding peaks seemed small in front of it.

What a huge size!

What a terrifying amount of chakra!

Even the chakra of a Tailed Beast seemed small in front of this chakra.

The ruler, ancestor, and master of Shikkotsu Forest, the true body of the Slug Sage!

”Long time no see, Seiryū. You’ve become stronger than the last time!”

A soft, whispering voice entered Seiryū’s ears. It was the voice of the Slug Sage.

The voice did not come from the huge slug, but from the side.

A small slug as tall as a person stood in front of Tsunade, greeting Seiryū.

”Hello, Katsuyu.”

For the gentle-natured Slug Sage, Seiryū also responded very politely.

The perception of Vollständig: Heavenly Eye naturally captured the chakra of the small slug and Tsunade here.

”Alright, enough nonsense. With your intelligence, you should already know why we brought you to Shikkotsu Forest, right?”

Beside the small, person-sized slug, Tsunade beckoned to Seiryū, signaling him to come over. ”For the next period of time, Katsuyu and I will guide you in training Senjutsu.”

After this period of hard training, Tsunade had also successfully mastered the Senjutsu of Shikkotsu Forest as she wished.

It was a nearly perfect Sage Mode. Apart from specific eyeshadow and facial markings, there would be no other ”abnormalities” in her body!

It could finally be shown to others. It had not been easy!

”You’ve mastered the perfect Sage Mode?”

Seiryū walked over, his gaze fixed on Tsunade.

At this moment, Tsunade was in her normal state and had not entered Sage Mode.

Tsunade merely nodded slightly without speaking.

Seiryū shook his head, feeling regretful. ”It’s a pity I didn’t see what you looked like when you were slugified…”

He still wanted to see what Tsunade’s ”slugified” appearance looked like.

It would be best to take a photo as a souvenir.

It would be an interesting memory in the future, wouldn’t it?

Tsunade: ”…”

Nothing good comes out of a brat’s mouth!

It was precisely because she knew Seiryū’s personality that she did not want him to see her imperfect Sage Mode.

Being ugly was one thing.

Seiryū would definitely tease her.

He might even take a photo as a souvenir and mock her with it for some time in the future.

Thinking of that terrible scene, which would definitely happen, she had been determined not to let Seiryū train in Senjutsu with her.

Tsunade glared at Seiryū, too lazy to argue with him, and estimated the time.

She asked Seiryū, ”Have you eaten? If not, there are ’specialties’ from Shikkotsu Forest here. They’re just right to fill your stomach, and then we’ll start training Senjutsu.”

Thinking of something, Tsunade suddenly curled the corners of her mouth, her eyes playful. ”By the way, during this period of Senjutsu training, you’ll need to eat the food here often. It will help with your Senjutsu training!”

Speaking of the food in Shikkotsu Forest, even Tsunade had to admit it was dark cuisine.

It was even harder to accept than the military ration pill-flavored ramen, the peculiar-tasting bacon and eggs, the chocolate egg fried rice, and the fruit seven-flavor rice balls that Seiryū liked to eat.

In any case, after Tsunade ate it once, her face turned green.

She had to make this kid Seiryū get a good taste of this ”delicacy.”

Prank this kid!

She still got angry when she thought about this kid wanting to have multiple wives!

And she was not wrong.

The food here would indeed be of some help to Senjutsu training!
