Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 40: Chapter 39: The Grey Mist Zone

The struggle for the mines continues to intensify.

After another night, a large number of Tier Five experts have already joined the scramble for the mining resources on the leaderboard.

Due to the airdropped treasure chests yesterday.

The mining area in the Wasteland has also become the focus of all the lords.

Every moment, many pieces of news about the struggle for the mines are emerging.

Like so-and-so was killed, someone got into a fight with someone else, or which forces are clashing with each other.

In short, it’s chaos all around.

Everyone is frantically vying for resources to upgrade to Tier Six.

Seeing this situation, Lin You decided not to get involved in this mess.

He glanced at the rankings and found that he was still in second place, while Yan Wu, due to acquiring rare species, had returned to the top five.

“This first place… is not simple.”

Lin You’s eyes narrowed slightly.

After accumulating throughout last night, all his Tier Four species had gradually advanced to Tier Five, plus Lingxi and Cyan Rattan, both with royal bloodlines, and five rare Wood Demon Dragons.

Aside from an Ancient Tree of Knowledge at Tier Three that couldn’t be upgraded, there were a total of forty-nine Tier Five species, yet he still couldn’t surpass the first place.

This was really beyond his expectations.

If he guessed correctly, the person in the first place probably obtained rare species through other means, or had some other fortuitous encounter, or found some way to cultivate Tier Six species.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to keep the top spot consistently.

After all, he himself only got the unique ability of mutation due to poor initial luck.

Who knows, others might also gain some fortuitous opportunities, which could happen.

“Indeed, there are many skilled people in this world…”

With a sigh, Lin You closed the leaderboard and stood in front of the Tower of Species.

After a day of research yesterday, he had studied the Grass and Wood Spirits and Highly Poisonous Demoness to Tier Five, making them recruitable.

Counting the newly unlocked Wood Demon Dragon, a total of three Tier Five species could be recruited.

In the remaining time, he planned to research Flower Spirits, Tree Spirits, Mushrooms, and Cannibal Flowers to be prepared for any unforeseen events.

However, this process would certainly take some time.

Luckily, the levels of these species were relatively low, and the initial research didn’t consume much magic energy.

…

After arranging the research tasks, he had something to eat.

Lin You then led twenty-five Tier Five plants out.

Last night before bed, Luo Lei messaged him, saying that he and a friend had gathered enough materials to advance to Tier Five and wanted to buy two Tier Four Territory Essences from him for one thousand magic energy.

Considering that Luo Lei had provided him with a lot of information before, Lin You agreed, since he had no use for the Tier Four Territory Essences now and might as well exchange them for some magic energy.

Through the mountains and forests.

Lin You quickly led his plants to the outside of Luo Lei’s territory.

Luo Lei, who had been waiting for a long time with his friend, immediately greeted him excitedly.

“Boss Lin You, long time no see.”

“Indeed, long time no see.” Lin You smiled, “Is this your friend?”

“Yes, he’s Ji Youwei, and the other Territory Essence I asked for is for him.” Luo Lei hurriedly explained.

Meanwhile, he and Ji Youwei were secretly examining the twenty-five species beside Lin You, utterly shocked.

Tier Five!

All Tier Five species!

Such terrifying combat power, if Lin You wished, he could even wipe out their entire territories without leaving a trace.

Is this the true power of the second on the leaderboard?

Luo Lei couldn’t believe it. It had only been a few days, and Lin You’s power had grown so much, with even more species than before.

While he was still in shock, Lin You retrieved two crystalline crystals from his personal space.

“Here, the Territory Essences you wanted.”

“Is this the Tier Four Territory Essence?”

Luo Lei and Ji Youwei swallowed hard, their eyes fixed intently on those two crystals.

They knew that to upgrade a territory, it required devouring a Territory Essence of the same level.

But seeing the Tier Four Territory Essence with their own eyes, they couldn’t help but get excited, quickly initiating a trade with Lin You, handing over one thousand points of magic energy, and taking the Territory Essences.

“Alright, now that the deal is done, I should head back.”

With magic energy in hand, Lin You naturally didn’t want to linger and turned to leave.

“Boss Lin You, wait a moment!”

Unexpectedly, Luo Lei suddenly called after him.

“Anything else?” Lin You turned back curiously.

Luo Lei hesitated for a moment, then said, “I wonder if Boss Lin You has heard about someone discovering a Mist Zone at the edge of the wasteland yesterday?”

“Mist Zone?”

“Yes, right at the northeastern edge of this wasteland, it’s a very terrifying mist area, it’s said that Tier Five lords are killed on the spot, none able to come out alive.”

“Is there such a thing?”

Lin You was startled inside. He hadn’t seen anyone mention this in the regional channel.

“Yes, I only heard about it this morning, so it should be a short time before the news spreads to the regional channel.” nodded Luo Lei.

“Though the mist is far from our region, those who have explored it say that it seems to be slowly spreading, gradually approaching our area!”

“Approaching this side?”

Lin You’s gaze tensed; this could be serious news.

If the mist really approached their region, wouldn’t they be in danger?

“Also,” at this moment, Ji Youwei chimed in, “it’s said that they saw many shadows in the mist, shadow as tall as mountains!”

“Shadows?”

“That’s right, this is from those who returned from the edge of the wasteland.” Ji Youwei nodded repeatedly.

Hearing his words, Lin You fell into contemplation.

Originally, he had doubts about this world, feeling that something was hidden behind it all.

Recalling what Yan Wu had told him before, along with what Luo Lei and Ji Youwei just said, he felt there was a hidden clue.

But no matter how he thought, he couldn’t grasp the key.

Could it be…

To truly understand the truth, you need to advance to Tier Six?

But if he rashly advances to Tier Six, would he encounter the situation described by Yan Wu?

This is a mystery…

But anyhow, this information was very important to him.

After some thought, he immediately said to the two, “Thank you for telling me such important news.”

“No need to thank us, it’s what we should do.” Luo Lei smiled.

He only told Lin You about it as a gesture of goodwill.

After all, even if they hadn’t said, the news would soon spread throughout the region, and Lin You would find out sooner or later.

After chatting for a while longer.

Luo Lei and Ji Youwei said their goodbyes to Lin You, heading back to their own territories, preparing to upgrade with the newly acquired Territory Essences.

As for Lin You, he turned with his Plant Legion and left, heading toward the Wasteland Wilderness.

Although it was chaotic there and people died every day.

He still had to go collect resources necessary to upgrade to Tier Six, to be prepared for possible future changes and prevent problems before they occur.
