Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 18: Chapter 17: Pure Support Plant

The appointed time arrived quickly.

Early in the morning, Lin You left the territory with fifteen Tier Four Species, excluding the Cannibal Flower King.

As for why it was fifteen.

Of course, it was because the Bathing Fire Lotus produced a considerable amount of magic energy overnight, allowing him to recruit a few more.

Along with five Tier Three Flower Spirits, a total of twenty species marched through the mountains and forests, almost emptying out the nest.

This is why he dared to go alone to the opponent’s territory.

More than two hours later.

Lin You followed Luo Lei’s location information, crossed the forest, and arrived at a vast wasteland.

On the edge of the wasteland, a territory with tombstones stood, eerie and magnificent.

Luo Lei had been waiting for some time, standing outside the territory with several Skeleton Soldiers. Upon seeing Lin You emerge from the forest, he immediately came forward.

“You’re Lin You, right?”

Luo Lei looked at Lin You with a hint of surprise.

At this moment, only Lingxi and four Tree Spirit Warriors accompanied Lin You, a lineup daring enough to cross the forest, which would astonish anyone who saw it.

Lin You didn’t offer much explanation, glanced around, and chuckled, “Yes, that’s me. Didn’t expect your territory to be so well-situated, adjacent to such a vast wasteland.”

“You’re joking. Though this wasteland is vast, many territories are in this place, quite unsafe. Sorry to have made you come all this way.”

Luo Lei smiled bitterly, his expression somewhat awkward.

If most of his species hadn’t been lost in the demon gathering area, he wouldn’t have exposed his territory, nor would he have made Lin You travel so far.

At the same time, he couldn’t help but be secretly amazed.

Because he discovered that the five species Lin You brought were all Tier Four!

Especially the little flower spirit-like species flying above Lin You’s head, which gave him a dangerous feeling.

When did someone like this appear among the Plant Type?

He had no idea!

While Luo Lei was sizing up Lin You, Lin You was also assessing Luo Lei.

As he guessed, there were not many species beside Luo Lei, and they were all Tier Three Skeleton Centurions, with no Tier Four in sight.

It seemed that there were significant losses when eradicating the demon gathering area, temporarily lacking resources to upgrade the territory and recruit species.

This reassured him as he smiled and said, “No problem, it’s not that far, just a few hours. By the way, did you bring the species token?”

“I did, how about yours?”

Luo Lei took out a token from his bosom and showed it to Lin You.

Lin You glanced at the token’s information.

[Species Token: Ancient Tree of Knowledge]

[Effect: Unlock a Tier Three Plant Type Species]

[Usage Requirements: Tier Three Plant Type Territory, 25 points of Magic Energy]

…

After seeing the attributes, Lin You’s face immediately lit up with joy, and he took out the Corpse Token and handed it to Luo Lei.

“This is the Tier Three Corpse Token, please check.”

“Aren’t you afraid I’ll take the item and run?”

Luo Lei said as he lowered his head to the token.

Upon seeing the token’s information, his eyes began to shine. This was precisely the Undead Species Token he desired most!

“How about it, is it enough to exchange for your token?”

Lin You smiled and said.

He was not worried about the other party seizing the token and fleeing back to the territory, as he was confident he could intercept them before they returned.

Luo Lei was an honest person and didn’t pull any tricks. He raised his head and exclaimed, “More than enough, it’s a pleasure working together!”

Then, he handed the Ancient Tree of Knowledge token to Lin You.

“Pleasure working together.”

Lin You accepted it without hesitation and took a deep breath.

With this, he gained another recruitable species, making the journey worthwhile.

He put away the token, glanced around, and said, “Since we’ve completed the transaction, I’ll head back first. Let’s keep in touch.”

Luo Lei nodded, “Alright, thank you for making the trip.”

Lin You didn’t say much, waved his hand, and left with Lingxi and the others.

Soon, they disappeared into the dense forest, as if they had never been there.

At this point, a young man hiding behind a pile of stones appeared, quickly running over.

“How about it? Did you get it?”

This young man was the one who fought alongside Luo Lei to eliminate the demon gathering area. From the moment Lin You appeared, he had been hiding behind the pile of stones, ready to assist at any time.

Evidently, he was cautious too.

Seeing him appear, Luo Lei immediately said joyfully, “Ah, we’ve got it. Luckily, that person was easy to talk to.”

“That’s good.” The young man sighed with relief, “I just checked it out, the species around that guy are all Tier Four. If it really came to a fight, I’m afraid even the two of us together wouldn’t be able to win.”

“Indeed.” Luo Lei nodded, still feeling a lingering fear, “I didn’t expect there to be such a powerful Plant Type in our area, and so close to us. It’s really well-hidden.”

“I heard that the Angel Type Murong Tian also just ascended to Tier Four this morning. Since when did the Plant Type become so formidable?”

“Who knows, anyway, it’s best to maintain a good relationship with people like that. It’s beneficial to us too.”

“That’s true…”

At this point, the two fell silent, watching the direction Lin You left, lost in thought.

On the other side.

After leaving Luo Lei’s territory, Lin You quickly returned to his territory.

Along the way, he killed numerous Demons, earning over a hundred points of Magic Energy.

He hurried through the territory’s fence and went straight to the Tree of Life, taking out the Species Token he brought back.

[Would you like to spend 25 points of Magic Energy to use the Tier Three Species Token: Ancient Tree of Knowledge?]

“Use it.”

Shwoosh—

The token transformed into a stream of light, instantly merging into the trunk of the Tree of Life.

Immediately, a notification echoed in Lin You’s mind.

[Congratulations, you have successfully unlocked the Tier Three Species: Ancient Tree of Knowledge]

Upon hearing this notification, Lin You quickly spent 10 points of Magic Energy to recruit an Ancient Tree of Knowledge.

In an instant, light converged, and an ancient tree sprang from the ground, quickly growing to a height of seven to eight meters, its top lush and changing, gradually consolidating into a wizened face, appearing old yet profound.

[Name: Ancient Tree of Knowledge]

[Race: Plant]

[Level: Tier Three (cannot be upgraded)]

[Power: 25]

[Constitution: 25]

[Agility: 25]

[Spirit: 120]

[Skills: Vast Knowledge (increases surrounding plants’ experience by 1 point each hour, effective at all levels, not stackable.) Ancient Rarities (unique species, only one of this species may exist at a time.)]

[Introduction: The Tree Spirit race’s most knowledgeable existence, low combat capability, but possesses strong supportive abilities.]

After reading the information about the Ancient Tree of Knowledge, Lin You was stunned.

A pure Support Type species?

And it can also increase other species’ experience?

This is amazing!

It’s practically tailor-made for Plant Type Species!

Lin You didn’t expect that this casually exchanged token would result in such a rare species.

Don’t underestimate it just because it provides one experience point per hour; over time, it’s quite significant.

And it states clearly that it’s effective for all levels!

Just based on this, Lin You knew he hit the jackpot!

The only downside is that the Ancient Tree of Knowledge has many limitations, which is likely why it isn’t considered a rare species.

“Alright, let’s try a mutation first.”

Even though the experience-boosting effect can’t stack, Lin You still wanted to see if he could mutate away the “Ancient Rarities” skill.

So he could keep one in the territory and take another out, leveling up and defeating monsters concurrently.

With that in mind, he took action.

He directly mutated the Ancient Tree of Knowledge.

However, to his surprise, after several mutations, all resulting species inherited the “cannot upgrade” and “unique species” traits, with the experience-boosting skill completely missing.

Could it be that the “Vast Knowledge” skill has no compatibility with other species and is impossible to inherit?

Unwilling to give up, Lin You recruited and mutated more than a dozen times.

The result was the same, without exception.

With a probability of one in two, even with bad luck, such a result shouldn’t occur.

In other words, his guess was correct.

Other plants simply can’t inherit the “Vast Knowledge” skill!

Alright… It seems he was too optimistic after all.

Helpless, Lin You had to dismiss the mutated species and recruit another Ancient Tree of Knowledge, leaving it in the territory as a pure support plant.

Fortunately, the experience boost was significant and provided great help for him.
