Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 34: Chapter 33: The Dark Horse Breaks Through

“Disappeared completely!?”

Lin You was startled.

“That’s right, it vanished without a trace, even the name on the ranking list disappeared. Because the upgrade was so fast, the species were few, so the ranking wasn’t high, and not many people knew about this,” Yan Wu said solemnly.

Even though they were separated by a mountain, Lin You could sense his seriousness.

Moreover, it was the first time Yan Wu had met him, so he didn’t need to deceive him.

This meant that after ascending to Tier Six, something unexpected could really happen, which was terrifying.

Shocked, Lin You immediately expressed his gratitude, “Thank you for letting me know, I owe you one.”

“You’re welcome.”

A hint of a smile appeared on Yan Wu’s stern face.

The reason he told Lin You such important information was also to do him a favor.

Now that he achieved his goal, he didn’t say much and sent his species to continue mining the ore.

The two looked at each other in silence.

After a short while, Lin You had filled an entire storage space with ore, bid farewell to Yan Wu, and left the ore area directly.

Although ascending to Tier Six could bring mishaps, collecting resources couldn’t be ignored, as having more resources wouldn’t hurt.

After listening to Yan Wu’s words, he had a vague premonition that a major event was about to occur, so it’s better to prepare early.

He returned to the territory and stored the ore in the warehouse, then left the territory again to continue mining.

After two trips back and forth, the sky gradually darkened.

…

Half an hour remained before the evening’s ranking list rewards were handed out.

Lin You checked his ranking and saw that, due to continuously collecting ore and not recruiting species, he had fallen to outside the top ten.

The names on the ranking list had changed drastically, with many new faces appearing in the top ten.

The only constant was Yin Tiange in the first place.

After all, he was the first to ascend to Tier Five and probably had already researched Tier Five species and began recruiting them to expand.

During these final moments, Lin You wasn’t idle.

After closing the ranking board, he went straight to the Tower of Species and discovered the advanced form of the Grass and Wood Spirits had been completed.

In other words, he could now recruit Tier Five species.

“Fortunately, just in time,” Lin You breathed a sigh of relief as he glanced at the 1,800 Magic Energy points accumulated over the past two days. Although not many, they were enough to outdo those who hadn’t researched Tier Five species yet.

Considering the day’s events, even the third-ranked Yan Wu wouldn’t have more than five Tier Five species, otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought only two Tier Fives with him.

This was his opportunity!

Lin You’s eyes narrowed slightly, and without hesitation, he began recruiting species.

And just as he started sprinting for the ranking list.

The regional channel was also abuzz due to the imminent ranking settlement.

“I bet you, the first place will definitely be Yin Tiange.”

“Not necessarily, until the last second, no one can be sure.”

“There’s no way the first place will change; he reached Tier Five a day earlier than everyone else, so catching up won’t be easy.”

“So it’s all about the second and third places; I suspect many people are pushing hard to compete for these ranks.”

“Look, it’s changed again! The ranking list has changed!”

“The big shots are certainly starting to push hard!”

The onlookers in the channel argued endlessly, and those on the ranking list were striving with all their might, launching a sprint for the second and third places.

Almost every few seconds, the rankings fluctuated, up and down with fierce intensity.

Even Yan Wu, who was third, was pushed to sixth, though he quickly clawed back to fifth.

As they said, until the last second, no one could predict the outcome, and everyone was astonished, making for a spectacle more thrilling than watching a blockbuster.

Originally still in the teens, Lin You was suddenly pushed to over fortieth, nearly being squeezed out of the top fifty.

“What’s happening? Why is his rank dropping so drastically?”

Within the territory, Luo Lei looked at Lin You’s rank in surprise.

Half an hour ago, he had been watching Lin You’s name constantly, eager to see what kind of shocking performance he might display.

But after waiting for a long time, Lin You’s ranking didn’t rise; instead, it kept dropping, causing Luo Lei to frown.

By this time, some others had noticed Lin You’s rank as well.

“Look, Lin You has already dropped to beyond fortieth, that’s too miserable.”

“Lin You? Wasn’t he ranked fifth earlier?”

“Talking about fifth, he was pushed down long ago.”

“He likely won’t get back to the top ten, Plant Type is indeed disadvantaged.”

“He probably just got lucky the past two days to get into the top ten.”

“What’s the use of being in it? The real big shots are just starting to exert themselves.”

…

Lin You entering the top ten was a mystery to many.

Now seeing his rank plummet, numerous people started gloating.

At this point, only five minutes remained before the reward settlement, making it almost impossible to jump from beyond fortieth into the top ten.

So many people refocused on the top ten and no longer paid attention to Lin You’s rank.

“One last minute!”

Someone on the channel started announcing the time remaining for the reward settlement.

The previously arguing onlookers suddenly held their breath, staring closely at the ranking list, afraid to miss anything.

The big shots on the chart also began their final sprint, with rankings changing wildly.

“Five seconds remaining!”

“Five…..”

“Four…..”

“Three…..”

“Two…..”

“One…..”

“Time’s up!”

Finally, a light gleamed and the names on the ranking list froze, maintaining the rankings of the previous second.

Everyone’s hearts pounded as they eagerly looked at the top ten to see which big shots had made it.

As the light faded, the names on the list gradually came into focus for them.

The first place was indeed as they predicted, still held by Yin Tiange, without any changes.

As he had reached Tier Five a day earlier than others, with the formidable Demon Type species, there was no surprise at all.

But when their gazes fell to the second place, they were all stunned.

“Second place… Lin You!?”

“What’s going on? How is he in second place!?”

In that moment, everyone was shocked, their eyes suddenly widened.

No one had foreseen such an outcome.

Lin You, who was just in the forties moments ago, suddenly jumped to second place?

How could that be!

“Jumped over forty ranks at once? How did he do it?”

“That’s too exaggerated! Could he have instantly recruited several Tier Five species?”

“Not possible! He must have cheated!”

“Cheated? Why don’t you try doing it too?”

“Unbelievable, who’d have thought such a dark horse would emerge at the last moment.”

“That’s so fierce, Plant Type species securing second place?”

“No wonder Lin You is a big shot, certainly stands out.”

“Where are all those guys who were laughing at him? Why are they silent now?”

Lin You’s stunning achievement of securing second place stirred up great commotion, inciting a massive ripple effect.

No one expected that someone with seemingly no chance could charge forward at the last second and directly clinch second place.

Those who previously mocked him immediately shrank back, not daring to speak.

For fear of being remembered by him.

The entire regional channel was bustling, all discussing this event.
