Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 6: Chapter 5: Stirring Up a Lion’s Den

[Name: Explosive Mushroom]

[Race: Plant]

[Level: Tier Two (0/25)]

[Power: 0]

[Constitution: 10]

[Agility: 0]

[Spirit: 22]

[Skills: Explosive Spores (Throw spores into the air, attach them to enemies, and trigger a violent explosion.)]

[Introduction: A harmless little mushroom, you can even use it to make soup.]

…

Goodness gracious, I just can’t even.

Spores that explode?

What kind of bizarre species is this…

Lin You was almost at a loss for words at the randomness of his assigned species.

From the initial little sapling to the current explosive mushroom, none of them were serious in any way.

But this explosive mushroom is not bad; although it lacks any offensive capabilities and can’t move, the skill is pretty decent.

As long as it’s mutated into other species using the mutated ability, it’ll still inherit this skill, and then will it be a vine whip thrown out with an explosive effect?

The thought of it is just delightful.

Unfortunately, he’s already spent all his magic energy, so he can’t mutate it for now.

He glanced up at the sky, and it had unknowingly darkened, so Lin You gave up on the idea of heading out again; besides, he was hungry after a day’s work.

He set up a simple structure, ignited a flame using the flame crystal he found inside the flaming lion, and began grilling meat while checking messages on the chat channel.

“Hey guys, how’s everything going on your end?”

“Pretty good, though it was a bit hard to adapt at first. Finally upgraded the territory to Tier Two.”

“Already? I’m still 4 points of magic energy short for an upgrade; those demons are really tough to kill.”

“Don’t bring it up, I encountered a Tier Two demon while out today, almost got wiped out, barely managed to escape back to the territory.”

“You’re doing better than me; my initial species are rubbish, can’t even handle Tier One demons, no food to scavenge, no idea how I’ll manage tonight.”

“Pathetic…”

One message after another floated by, all recounting their miserable circumstances, some even unable to solve basic needs.

By comparison, Lin You was doing much better.

Not only had he solved his food issues, he’d also upgraded his territory to Tier Two, managing to barely gain a foothold in this world.

“By the way, anyone assigned to Angel Type or Demon Type territories? I hear those species are really powerful!”

Just then, someone asked this question.

And it happened to be the question Lin You was most concerned with: territory types!

Based on the information he’d gathered over the day, he’d basically figured out the species types in this world, which roughly divided into ten types.

Humanoid, Humanoid-like, Wild Beast, Insect, Plant, Undead, Elemental, Mechanical, Angel, Demon.

Corresponding to these are castles, tribes, beast lairs, insect nests, Trees of Life, gravesites, Elemental Lands, Mechanical Factories, Holy Halls, and Blood Halls, these ten territory types.

Among them, Angel Type and Demon Type are the rarest, followed by Elemental Type and Mechanical Type.

As expected, as soon as Angel Demon territories were mentioned, quite a few people joined the discussion.

“I don’t know about Demon Type, but today I saw an Angel Type guy with two angels, instantly wiped out a Tier Two demon, totally insane!”

“Whoa! That’s amazing? Did he give you any trouble?”

“What trouble could he cause? I had a Tier Two Gale Leopard, just rode off, and he couldn’t catch me if he tried.”

“Darn it! I thought it was gonna be some revenge drama, turns out it’s a humblebrag!”

“Already got Tier Two species, I’m so envious I could puke.”

“What’s to envy? It’s not much experience for Tier Two, easy to level up, the tricky part is after Tier Three, you have to kill same-level demons to gain experience.”

“True, killing low-level ones doesn’t gain much experience, and magic energy is pitifully scarce, who knows when I’ll have a full species roster.”

…

In the span of a day, they’d gathered plenty of information about this world.

Taking advantage of the evening rest period to share in the chat channel.

Just watching and eating, Lin You gathered a lot of useful info, saving him from many missteps and quietly noting the strength of Angel Type and Demon Type.

If someday he were to clash with them over interests, it’ll probably be a fierce battle.

Just like that.

After finishing his grilled meat and filling his belly, Lin You lay down under the Tree of Life, using his connection with it to grow vines and weave a simple hammock under the tree, resting comfortably.

This was Lin You’s first night in this world.

Maybe due to fatigue from the day, he quickly fell into a deep sleep.

…

The next morning.

Lin You woke up early.

Not because he wanted to wake up so early, but he was disturbed by the sound of impacts.

When he opened his eyes to look outside, he found his territory surrounded by several flaming lions, frantically pounding the fences!

“What’s going on?”

Lin You jumped off the hammock in shock.

Upon counting carefully, there were actually eight flaming lions outside the territory!

Did he unwittingly provoke a lion’s den?

Or is it… because of that flaming lion from yesterday?

Thinking about this, Lin You glanced at the dried jerky beside him.

Looks like the scent of their comrade’s flesh drew this group of flaming lions, instantly squashing his hopes of hunting outside.

Yesterday’s flaming lion almost cost him dearly; now with eight of them, what now?

He might just be trapped here!

“Roar!”

At this moment, those flaming lions noticed Lin You and started slamming into the fence fiercely, making it rattle loudly.

The Thorny Vine Grass and Thorny Vine Flower inside his territory didn’t sit idle either; they rushed out of the fence, straight at the flaming lions, but were quickly turned to charcoal by the flames they spewed.

Seeing this, Lin You’s brow furrowed.

Flame Type demons, and they’re Tier Three Flame Type demons, their species are way too overpowering against his.

One is manageable, can exploit safe periods and guerrilla tactics to deviously wear them down, but a group calls for something else.

I’ve got it!

Doesn’t he have a new species?

Suddenly, Lin You recalled the Tier Two species he unlocked yesterday, the Explosive Mushroom.

Yesterday it was too late to gather magic energy for its mutation, but overnight plenty of nighttime foraging demons were killed by his plants, yielding him another 5 points of magic energy.

Wasting no time, he quickly headed to the Explosive Mushroom and directly used the mutated ability.

[Mutating a Tier Two Summoned Unit requires consuming 5 points of magic energy. Do you wish to continue?]

A prompt sounded.

Just as Lin You had speculated, Tier Two species mutations require much more magic energy, directly fivefold.

“Continue!”

Lin You said resolutely.

In the next second, the Explosive Mushroom was enveloped in light, swiftly growing into a plant taller than a person.

[Name: Thorny Vine Flower]

[Race: Plant]

[Level: Tier Two (0/25)]

[Power: 19]

[Constitution: 22]

[Agility: 8]

[Spirit: 20]

[Skills: Explosive Spores, Vine Whip]

[Introduction: The lowest-grade Plant Summoned Creature, initially possessing mobility abilities.]

Unlike the previous Thorny Vine Flower, this one inherited the Explosive Spores skill, growing red spores all over its body, swinging with the vines in the air.

Seeing this, Lin You immediately issued an attack command.

“Whoosh—”

A sound pierced through the air, the vine turned into long whips, rushing out more than ten meters, directly targeting the flaming lion closest to the fence!
