Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 539: Chapter 72: Fallen Paradise

Dida was very nervous; it was her first time in the game, driving someone else’s body, and such a powerful shell!

The Level 30 Mechanical Guard wasn’t even a match, and the Level 40 Energy Guardian got its energy entirely sucked out within a few breaths by the overwhelming flesh carpet.

Monster!

But controlling such a monster posed a significantly intense pressure because she could vaguely feel the Radiation Beast cells within this body, those massive, bloodthirsty radiation creatures, looming over her with dangerous eyes—they weren’t controlled by their original master.

So, could they possibly rebel?

In Dida’s ear, she even heard the shrill laughter of the Crimson Queen, a piercing sound capable of shattering eardrums.

Nevertheless, she had to force herself to focus on the operation of the ’Biological Computer’.

[Local Area Network signal adjusting, intelligent data continuously downloading, download progress: 60%, 61%, 62%...]

[Cyber Browser switching, transferring from ’Data Node 124’ to ’Data Node 128’]

[Energy consumption warning, energy consumption warning...]

On the countless ’little TVs’ in front of her were images of various data nodes within Cyber Space, only through a special ’Cyber Browser’ could the sensory signals be converted into images.

And at this moment, what Dida was doing was continuously transferring intelligent data, this group of AI, ensuring they weren’t recaptured by the Earth Net Group’s system before the download was completed.

In this respect, AI had a unique advantage; Cyber Space, she was very familiar with.

On the other hand, digital life struggled in Cyber Space; they could only rely on the commonly available Antivirus Guardians on the market.

Countless transparent human figures continuously transformed into data and reshaped on the next page; behind them were humanoid, data-glowing [Flame Guardian Type IV], non-humanoid [Electronic Radiation Beast Series], and [Security Manager], [Little Red Umbrella], [Yineng Poison Dominator]...

The number of these Antivirus Guardians was enough to form a group.

Dida’s nerves were increasingly tense; inconceivably, Mr. G’s words from before echoed.

’If I don’t log off, they’ll likely lay hands on my physical body, and once they do, our chance will come.’

’So, next up, I’ll transfer the ’Biological Computer’ administrator privileges to you; once I hack into their system, you use the ’Local Area Network’ privileges to connect to Cyber Space and start downloading AI.’

’Once the download is complete, start the ’system reinstallation’, temporarily load all the AI into my human body system, enhance computational power, and enter the biological AI mode.’

’In this mode, with the help of my body, you can even directly enter Digital Space, and by that time, I need you to do...’

”What about you?” Dida couldn’t help but ask.

’I need to meet an old friend to ask for a small favor; during the time I’m away, you are responsible for playing with my body.’

”...”

A glance at the task panel showed [AI Rescue Battle] as the most noticeable Tier 2 Task, and the rewards were enough to make her breathless.

Task Reward: A customized energy transformation that allows you to break through the species limit.

Although she wasn’t clear on what breaking the species limit truly meant, she nonetheless felt an attraction.

The ’racial bloodline’ of AI she was a bit tired of; constantly transitioning between reality and illusion, with the ever-changing virtual illusions and sensory experiences—though some pleasure-seeking players loved it, she didn’t prefer it; she preferred something more stable, simpler.

Leaving behind the advantages brought by this ’bloodline’ was also extremely difficult; if she were to change now, she would likely end up as an ordinary player, which, as a somewhat proud girl, she couldn’t accept.

Therefore, having a ’bloodline transformation’, especially one converting to a more advanced energy bloodline, had enormous appeal to her.

The only problem was, wasn’t this mysterious NPC being too good to her? She didn’t improve her favorability much.

’Ding—’

[Intelligent data download complete, proceed with system reinstallation?]

Without a doubt, she chose ’yes’. Next moment, Dida’s breath hitched, the air seemed vacuumed out, and gravity suddenly increased tenfold, a hundredfold.

The surrounding environment started to collapse, the silver-white floor, the little screens on the walls, and the flickering ’AI’ started to disappear, replaced by a multitude of nerve cells morphing into data nodes, blood vessels turning into electronic communication ports, cortisol secreted crazily yet turning into electronic solutions, one virtual machine after another evolved from the brain, and the various systems of the human body began to evolve into ’power supply’, ’motherboard’, ’CPU’, ’memory’, ’hard drive’...

To hunt Cyber Digital Life, the AI captured by the Earth Net Group numbered in the tens of thousands; even though a significant portion was consumed, the remaining ones were nearly ten thousand. Loading so many AI into the ’Biological Computer’ was unprecedented in computational power and only someone like Gao, who was ’dual-card dual-standby’, could withstand such pressure in a short time—the ’body’ by then had automatically entered the ’Complete Form’ state.

In this process, Dida inexplicably experienced a strong sense of familiarity; apart from the reinstalling human body system, visibly, the surrounding environment also began to ’collapse’, the bridge began to ’collapse’, the signal emitter platform began to ’collapse’, the push room of the engine began to ’collapse’, the reactor dome overhead began to ’collapse’...

In a trance, she seemed to have returned to Cyber Space.

’Gao Gong’ stomped heavily; electrical and sensory signals traversing through neurons suddenly surged, and the ground beneath bore a deep footprint on the digital layer.

’He’ looked around, and everything had transformed into green streams of light, a digitalized Earth Crust Engine.

As expected, after the system reinstallation, just relying on the physical body, ’Mr. G’, or rather, Dida, entered a world only digital life could step into.

In the defender’s eyes, the intruder vanished instantly.

Dida turned directly, bypassing the power control room; she needed to reach the energy hub of the Earth Crust Engine, which was both the main switch of the Earth Crust Engine and the largest storage hardware.

What Mr. G needed was right there.

...

In the avalanche, no single snowflake is innocent.

Yet Gao Gong was sure he was that innocent snowflake, the only non-virus existence in Virus Vault 0.

Like mercury pouring down, every minute, every second, every inch, every side, was frozen in place.

Vision, hearing, smell, taste—all dead!

The lowest level of Cyber Space, the dark side of the network system architecture, the breeding ground of the Mother City.
