Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 506: Chapter 40: Life Manipulation (Part 2)

”Hey, hey, hey, Tetsu, are you guys okay?”

”Bro, say something, what should I do next?”

”Where is everyone? Are you dead?”

Meanwhile, on the other end of the signal, drops of blood fell one by one, and Matsumoto Tetsu’s body slowly disappeared.

The feeling was very strange.

Ah Q finally sensed something was wrong, but by this point, even he could only brace himself to continue.

He inspected the signal station in the database, clearly noting that the signal station here was more advanced. Each ’booth’ contained a holographic figure, and the face of the figure was changing rapidly.

”Collecting large amounts of bio-signals, this is already established, but what the hell is this?”

At that moment, in front of Ah Q, a middle-aged man was locked inside a huge human-shaped device, his eyes half-closed. Countless signal connectors were inserted all over his body; roughly counted, there were about a hundred interfaces on him.

”What is this, a humanoid USB drive?”

”But this face, looks a bit familiar,”

Ah Q stared at the face of this middle-aged man, becoming more and more acquainted, and suddenly remembered that the person who hosted his onboarding meeting the first time he entered the Balance Technology Branch was this man.

The number one manager of the Balance Branch, their big boss!

At this moment, this big boss lay in the device like a corpse, being inputted with various bio-signals.

”You’re here.”

A strange voice suddenly sounded.

”Who are you?”

”I am the highest manager of the Balance Branch and the highest level experiment subject. You can call me ’Charlie’.

”Charlie, uh, I’ll still call you boss. What is your current situation?”

”As you can see, I am an experiment subject, the device for all bio-signal input and output of the Balance Branch. All biological data experiments are aggregated here and then processed.”

”So, I am also a super processor.”

”Boss, you...” Ah Q thought for a long time and didn’t know how to continue, so he straightforwardly asked: ”Who the hell did this to you?”

”Well, if we talk about the initial participants, it was Dr. Liang and most of the scientists of the research department.”

”If it’s the mastermind, it’s actually the headquarters.”

”The headquarters? So, that’s how it is.”

Ah Q had discussed with Matsumoto Tetsu, and one of the hypotheses was that there was support from someone at headquarters behind their actions.

”But don’t misunderstand, it’s not some big shot from headquarters targeting me, but the corporate will of Balance Technology that controlled me, allowing Dr. Liang to succeed.”

”Corporate will??”

Ah Q couldn’t understand. Isn’t this just like corporate values, something intangible?

”Since you’ve made it here, you should know the Super Samurai Plan developed jointly by Balance Technology and Marubeni Global.”

”To be precise, it is a super weapon controlled by bio-signals.”

”And to complete this experiment, various human experiments must be conducted, because only by completely simulating human bio-signals can such a level of development be achieved.”

”Then, to obtain more data, Dr. Liang proposed some aggressive schemes, such as the life segmentation protocol and neural system connection, which I authorized.”

”And then, Dr. Liang proposed a plan that even I had to refuse—he wanted to transform me.”

Surely, where you stand depends on where you sit.

Ah Q thought disdainfully, but thinking about himself, he couldn’t help but sigh.

His ”seat” wasn’t very stable either.

”Dr. Liang’s proposal was to transform me into the ’Brain Beam’ of all corporate employees.”

Brain Beam?

Ah Q knew about this; it’s that thing located between the left and right brain, said to be made up of 200 million bundles of nerve fibers.

And it’s precisely because of that that the left and right brains can be fully integrated.

”What exactly is corporate will that even you can’t resist?” Ah Q pondered.

”You can consider it as a collective consciousness, or a kind of belief, or even a specific action command.”

”In our circle, there’s a saying that the true management layer of a corporation is those who grasp the corporate will.”

”Then, boss, is there anything I can do?”

The other party did not answer, directly transmitting a piece of information, while a task got triggered.

[You have triggered the task ’The Real Signal Station’]

Task Name: The Real Signal Station

Difficulty: Tier 2 - Difficult

Task Brief: As an employee, the boss’s difficulty is your difficulty. Now, the opportunity to rise in rank and wealth is at hand, as long as you accomplish one thing—save the boss.

Task Objective: Spread the news of Charlie being controlled throughout the entire Balance Branch, rally all the employees to rescue the boss.

Task Reward: Task Experience +400,000, Skill Points *20, Specialization Points *15, 20 Random Blueprints

Note: Worker spirit, worker soul, go for it, young man.

Looking at the task rewards, Ah Q took a deep breath. These task rewards, he hadn’t even heard of, let alone seen.

Moreover, for a Tier 2 task, as far as he knew, no player had ever received it.

What the heck, am I really that awesome?

”Boss, from now on, I’m your loyal servant. If you say one, I’ll definitely not say two!”

”Should I rally everyone to rescue?”

”But how should I do this?”

”Actually, it’s very simple. I am sealed in this ’bio-signal base’, unable to move, but you are different. You can manipulate this bio-signal base and connect with all the executives. In here, I still have some loyal subordinates.”

Ah Q was stunned for a moment, ”It’s that simple?”

”If the executives can’t save me, then nobody can.”

”Makes sense.”

Ah Q started to operate various signal stations as instructed, while muttering in his mind, despite the difficult-level task being Tier 2, it didn’t seem that hard.

Soon, the projections of bio-signals materialized, forming into executives who walked out one by one. At first, they were a bit puzzled, but when they saw Charlie in the human-sized device, their expressions turned visibly excited.

”Charlie, you’re still alive!!”

”Number One, why are you here?”

”Charlie...”

Afterwards, there was nothing more for Ah Q to do. When it comes to conspiracies, intrigues, and struggles, Ah Q, the nerd, couldn’t compete with these people. Soon, one plot after another brewed, including how to seize power, how to create pretexts, and even how to commit murder.

In any case, after three hours, everything was arranged, just waiting for the Dragon King’s return—oops, Charlie’s return.

”You should leave here as well.”

Ah Q left in a daze, until he was gone, he never figured out why the task was so easy. He shook his hand subconsciously and hit something hard, a drop of blood flowed down, and on the system interface, his blood volume dropped by 1 point.

What the hell!?

And after everyone left, another signal tower’s light turned on, bio-signals converging, projecting a phantom-like figure.

The distinctive cone-shaped head was none other than Dr. Liang.

”Why bother, it’s been repeated so many times, yet you seem to still hold a glimmer of unrealistic hope,” Dr. Liang said with a smile at the human device.

Charlie remained silent.

”Oh well, I know your thoughts, since you want to try, then try, after all, this is also part of the experiments.”

Dr. Liang smiled and shook his head. In the next instant, all the signal stations lit up.

’Signal extraction in progress—’

’Memory data marking in progress—’

’Memory data deletion in progress—’

’Deletion complete.’

The elevator doors opened, and Ah Q walked out looking bewildered, stared blankly for a moment, then said: ”What did I just do?”

He subconsciously opened the task panel.

”What the heck, when did I get a difficult-level task that I haven’t done?”

While still perplexed, a young man from the research department walked over, frowning and looking him up and down.

”Mechanical Maintenance Department?”

Every company has a hierarchy of contempt, and at Balance Technology, the R&D department was at the upper echelons. Ah Q glanced at the other’s nameplate—Research Department, Matsumoto Tetsu.

”Hurry up and leave, this is not a place you can stay.”

”Oh, oh, I’ll leave right now!”

Ah Q quickly slipped away.

Matsumoto Tetsu watched the other’s back and shook his head. If not for rushing to report data to Dr. Liang, he definitely would have thoroughly checked the guy.

This was a critical area for the research department!

And below, in the database, a faint sigh was emitted.

”Don’t be disappointed, I have a plan, would you be willing to consider it?”

At the signal station, a drop of blood jumped out, hopped a few times, and leapt to the top, smiling as it spoke.

This voice, it sounds familiar.
