Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 399: Chapter 156: Completion Angel

Gao Gong clicked his tongue as he observed the human form flickering with electrical signals.

”So this is what you rely on? Backup personality, physical replicas, advanced regenerative thought boxes. Let me count—how many are there? Wow, so many, I can’t even keep track.”

Gao Gong focused on three neural signal circuits, which were distinctly different from the rest. While other neural signals were merely types of electrical signals, these three had completed a virtual transformation, reaching the strength of information life.

Gao Gong quickly understood.

”So, you’ve hidden three cloned personalities in the depths of the corporate think-tank. Unless the corporation is destroyed, you cannot be killed, am I right?”

”Makes sense. Only a founder like you could execute such operations that blatantly disregard corporate will. Your successors could never wield such power.”

”Let me guess again, when you step down in the future, your successor will be tainted by your cloned personalities in the process of running the corporation, eventually becoming your avatar. Tsk tsk, such a vile thought.”

Hugh Laurie’s eye twitched fiercely, unable to maintain his composure.

All his cards were exposed!

”Who on earth are you!?”

Someone familiar with these top entrepreneur tricks certainly wasn’t an ordinary person, nor could an alien know them, unless they hailed from a giant corporation civilization.

”Mr. Hugh Laurie, creator of the Human Completion Plan, your personality is truly despicable.”

Laurie gazed deeply at the other, his little finger trembling slightly. In the next moment, a massive energy net blanketed the entire office.

And then the figure in front of him suddenly vanished.

”What are you looking for, Mr. Arrogant President? Are you searching for me?”

Laurie spun around abruptly, only to see another ’himself’ sitting in the president’s chair, adjusting golden glasses with a face full of righteousness.

”Every personality contains elements of darkness, flaws, and animalistic nature. Yet, as human beings, we are duty-bound to mend these personality flaws. Hugh Laurie, as a corporate manager, you are power-hungry, indifferent, ruthless, two-faced. As your primary personality, I am obliged to implant a new moral chip in you!”

”You, you, absurd!!!”

In the blink of an eye, another self appeared before Laurie, giving a strange grin. A virtualized hand suddenly pressed against Laurie’s face, forcefully driving the entire visage inward, distorting his features.

In Laurie’s eyes, the other’s whole arm transformed into countless moral chips, frantically pouring into his brain.

’Arrogance, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust must be destroyed!!’

’Incomplete personalities must be excised, excised!!!’

’Human beings must be clad in moral garments all over!!’

’Moral castration, Hugh Laurie, conducting a moral castration on you, to completely castrate your ambitions—’

”Ah!!!”

Hugh Laurie woke up with a start, drenched in sweat, only to find himself standing behind the office desk, leaning on it, with no one around.

Hallucination?

This thought was immediately dismissed.

”Conduct a full-body check on me—and also, playback monitoring, trace neural signals, analyze sensory data.”

”Yes, Chairman!” the electronic secretary responded.

In the next moment, countless holographic projections lit up. Laurie fixated on one playback recording, showing him alone in the office, sometimes talking to the air, sometimes appearing terrified, sometimes flailing his arms, his face either twisted or despairing.

If this were shown outside, no one would believe it was him.

”Chairman, the examination is complete. Your respiratory system, skin system, and endocrine system have all been activated to varying degrees. You also have symptoms like intermittent tinnitus, palpitations, and neural fatigue. Based on your neural signal analysis, you believe another Hugh Laurie exists...”

”Skip the nonsense, conclusion!!”

”Preliminary diagnosis indicates symptoms of personality disorder. Do you need to schedule a psychologist?”

”Get out!!”

Laurie swept the desktop in a frenzy, sending pens and papers flying, leaving only a green button flickering with light.

He took a deep breath, waved his hand to let the holographic image conceal the chaos, and pressed the green button.

One by one, holographic projections came online urgently, filled with the top executives of the Illusionary Union, many of whom were former CEOs of merged corporations.

Laurie waved his hand, getting straight to the point, ”Tell me the damage!”

”Seven major processing centers have been compromised, six lines of corporate will have been damaged, and a large amount of data has been stolen, in addition...”

”134 dead in Electronic Defense Department, 41 in Information Connectivity Department, 54 in Human AI Department...”

”Our previous human experiment projects have been exposed by the media, and now those reporters are rushing towards headquarters in a frenzy.”

”How dare they!?”

”They didn’t dare before, but since the moral chips were implanted, they do.”

”...”

Many executives looked at each other, realizing that they had effectively shot themselves in the foot.

”Why, don’t we have any good news?” Laurie asked, but no one responded.

”Then let me tell you some good news. If the enemy could truly wield such horrific force without restraint, why didn’t they just destroy headquarters and eliminate us all?”

”This—”

Many executives suddenly realized that corporate warfare is a life-and-death struggle, with no truce or half-measures.

Yes, why didn’t the other side completely eliminate everyone, but only destroyed several major processing centers before leaving hurriedly?

”Now you all understand, the enemy’s power is limited, capable of only one such attack.”

Hugh Laurie paused, then said, ”So, don’t be scared, return in peace, assess the damages, and continue pushing the plan. Once the Human Completion Plan is successfully implemented, what we will have is the entire Nightless City!”

After everyone left, Hugh Laurie’s face immediately darkened.

”This matter must not be spread externally!”

”Understood, Chairman.”

Hugh Laurie took a deep breath and opened the private elevator. As the elevator descended slowly, he began to ponder.

The problem was simple; he didn’t believe the opponent was merely an illusion.

Thus, how many of his personalities he had altered, or even how many of his thought boxes he had awakened, were unknown numbers.

He told others not to panic, but deep within his own heart, he was already in a panic.

He arrived at the most strictly confidential part of the Illusion Mansion, using defenses at the Mother City level.

If even this could be breached by the other side, he might as well just run away.

After employing various detection methods, he reached the core.

It was a gigantic cross, and on it was a colossal virtual projection comparable to a Mechanic, hands nailed to the sides, surrounded by pure white data flow.

Completion Angel!

The first step for Illusionary Union to enter the world-class enterprise was to create a world-class mainframe system.

Staring at this mainframe system, Hugh Laurie showed a look of obsession.

His entire life had been for achieving this goal.

For this, he sacrificed far too much.

But everything was worth it, for making Illusionary Union a world-class Giant Corporation, to cover the entire world with the Human Completion Plan, Primordial People, Bionic Men, AI.

Create a perfect, flawless world!

For this, he wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice everything he had, including himself.

Or rather, this personality of his.

”Initiate self-completion.”

In Hugh Laurie’s encrypted brain disc, a series of codes automatically emerged, aligning with the ’Completion Angel.’

The colossal visage of the Completion Angel slightly tilted downward; the next moment, a laser pierced through Hugh Laurie’s forehead, erasing the life signs of this illustrious President.

Hugh Laurie was uncertain which part of his personality had been altered, nor which of his backup personalities had been awakened.

So he chose the most extreme way, destroying himself.

As long as he eliminated himself, all problems would be solved.

After his demise, his most important personality, the only one he could affirm had not been covertly altered, would take his place and lead the situation.

And this personality was the ’Completion Angel’!

It wasn’t uncommon for Corporate Will to consume executives; the reasons were always the same—either underperformance or the wrong technological path.

But entrepreneurs who willingly fed themselves to Corporate Will were scarce.

But not non-existent.

Hugh Laurie was one of those.

The Hugh Laurie managing affairs outside was also a backup personality.

Soon, the hidden cloning pod began to operate, cell fluid, human models, backup embryos, and frozen organs began assembling.

One hour later, another stark naked Hugh Laurie appeared beside the corpse, silently stripping the other of its clothes and donning them himself.

’Hugh Laurie’ looked at the corpse, blinked, and a faint white light flashed by.

The next moment, the Completion Angel on the cross opened its mouth, chewing something silently, as if eating ’fruit,’ each bursting releasing a thick flow of data.

What it devoured were the Corporate Wills of major businesses that had been badly damaged by Gao Gong.

...

On the rooftop of a high-rise in the Business District, Gao Gong hovered above the railing, looking in the direction of the Illusion Mansion, chuckling softly.

”Finally came out, main account.”

Under the Great Serpent Mode, the ’seam net’ on Gao Gong’s body shattered inch by inch.

The opponent guessed right; Gao Gong’s ultimate transformation had a time limit.

But what the opponent didn’t know was that Gao Gong had long ’seen’ where the true personality of the opponent was.

This corporate personality would only push the Human Completion Plan more extremely.

And that’s exactly what Gao Gong wanted.

This personality would not compromise, would not concede, extremely pure, or rather, extremely extreme.

The more extreme the opponent became, the more likely a rift with the Mechanic would occur.

Once the rift appeared, that would be the moment Gao Gong places his next move.

Since it’s a Corporate War, it must be settled in the form of Corporate Warfare.
