Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 382: Chapter 144: Strategist Yao Xue (Part 2)

But under the powerful firepower, both Biological Hunters and Mechanical Hunters suffered heavy losses, with personnel losses nearing half.

When had the two of them ever suffered such a setback!

More importantly, the two originally planned to escape alone, but this woman saw through it. In a situation where both sides would suffer heavy losses or unite, they could only choose the latter.

Yao Xue didn’t have the airs of a family patriarch; she personally got up, led the two to their seats, poured tea, and began to speak.

”You’ve both seen the Steel Claw Gang’s Mechanical Claw People; what do you think?”

Thinking of those bizarre close-combat Transformers, both of their expressions were somewhat unsightly.

Close combat, high mobility, and partial transformation — if their transformation wasn’t limited to humanoid creatures, wouldn’t this be a remake of the Mechanical Hunter?

”Under the blessing of the Illusionary Union, it seems the Steel Claw Gang has also achieved a technological breakthrough, with Tier 2 soldier species. I imagine Tier 2 experts are also in development, which for your side is probably not good news.”

If you don’t count the addition of advanced prosthetic bodies, the enhancement of most camp’s military forces goes like this—

First, there appear 30-level ordinary species, followed by 30-level elites, and finally, 30-level bosses with a template.

Mass production of ordinary species, small-scale production of elites, and focused training of a few top-level experts is a common practice for a power.

In fact, this is how the Mechanical Hunters operate as well. The two of them are 30-level elites, and the number of ordinary Hunters at level 30 is also rapidly increasing. Once enough technological accumulation is achieved, she or Tamil will likely receive a higher level of transformation.

It’s definitely not good news when a camp with a similar technology path suddenly appears, especially on the same continental plate.

On the path to becoming a world-class military contractor, there can only be one winner between Mechanical Hunters and the Steel Claw Gang.

”As the saying goes in the art of war, ’Strike first to gain the upper hand, strike late and suffer.’ This truth holds through the ages.”

Yao Xue’s eyes gleamed.

”So I wish to seek your help.”

”What does Patriarch Yao want to do?”

”The Super Hacker who suddenly appeared last night helped us escape capture; that was your person, right?” Yao Xue asked.

Daisila hesitated for a moment and nodded.

”As a courtesy, all Tier 2 experts of my Yao family are at your disposal. Since the other side launched a special armed operation, it’s only natural that we must strike back.”

Daisila thought for a moment and said:

”Patriarch Yao’s meaning is for us to save people?”

Yao Xue revealed a very cruel smile.

”No, my meaning is to make them pay. Since they have captured the top officials of the Four Great Families, if all of them die at the hands of the Illusionary Union, negotiations will certainly break down, and the Sub-human Continent will once again achieve unity.”

What a cruel woman!

Daisila was startled, and even the usually silent Tamil looked in astonishment at this murderous female patriarch, seeing the semblance of an ancient female general.

”May I ask what drives you to such desperate measures?” Tamil suddenly asked.

Yao Xue smiled lightly, but her words were full of dominance:

”In the world, if you don’t advance, you retreat. If Illusionary Union first approached us, then the Yao family would undoubtedly be the sharp edge of this emerging group.”

”But unfortunately, they chose the three major gangs of the Saint Domingo Continent. With their strength, they can only support the rise of a cross-regional level military contractor. A step missed is a step lost; if we join them, we can only become their cannon fodder. Rather than that, it’s better to take a stand in the Sub-human Continent and strive for a chance.”

Yao Xue bowed deeply, pressing her head to the ground.

”For our Sub-human Continent, for your family, please help us!”

Daisila was silent for a long time before saying:

”We need time to consider.”

”Certainly, please convey my regards to your leader.”

Daisila bowed slightly, demonstrating full etiquette.

The two returned to their residence, a wooden cottage by an artificial lake.

”What do you think?” Tamil asked first.

Daisila exhaled deeply, suddenly speaking coldly:

”She speaks well, always mentioning the Sub-human Continent, but I believe this woman wants to use this opportunity to unite all the armed clans.”

”After success, she could easily find an excuse to sell us out to the Illusionary Union, and that’s conceivable.”

Tamil showed a clearly surprised expression, obviously not having anticipated this.

”Merging large families with small families to acquire their exclusive technology isn’t a secret. It’s just that in recent years, they’ve been more subtle about it. And to rise from a talent-filled Yao family to become patriarch, do you think she’d be any ordinary person?”

”So that’s how it is!!”

”However, the information she revealed seems genuine. Large corporations cultivating close-knit military contractors is also a norm.”

”While corporate wars aren’t won by force alone, lacking force ensures defeat.”

”I had wondered, why did the gangs of the Saint Domingo Continent surrender so easily? Knowing the three giants emerged from countless gang wars, their defiance even rivaling our armed clans, could they really be so easily merged?”

”Now thinking about it, I had it wrong. They didn’t merge the three gangs; they split the security departments and used equity to prompt the merger, forming a cross-regional military contractor.”

”No wonder this woman is anxious. Once a large native military contractor forms, these Sub-human Continent armed clans are sure to be devoured.”

”Smaller clans might fare slightly better, at least selected as cannon fodder, but the high-levels of large families will likely be cleansed first.”

”But you just said Yao Xue would sell us out and cooperate with the Illusionary Union,” Tamil couldn’t help but say.

Daisila’s fingers slid through the air, shooting strands of webs forming knots.

”Nonsense, if the Four Great Families’ people all perish, the situation changes again. The Yao family, as a pacifying force, can, with some maneuvering, still secure a high-level position. And a high-level position won’t disrupt the already established power structure.”

Tamil calculated seriously and exclaimed: ”So, no matter what we do, they win?”

Daisila nodded, sneering: ”Among the Five Great Families, Kobayashi, Miyamoto, Black Hawk, and Xiaoi Family produce elite warriors. Only the Yao family is renowned for their strategists.”

”In modern military, strategists were once called advisors in ancient times, devising strategies, calculating enemies—that’s their specialty.”

”What shall we do then?” Tamil felt his intelligence was somewhat lacking.

”The problem is we can’t do nothing. A competitor has emerged, and we need to strike before they gain a foothold. President Du is busy outside; we must defend the Guanzhong Plate, our stronghold.”

Daisila exhaled deeply, silently reciting a name. By the tenth time, flames covered the wooden ceiling as Paradise Bird slowly appeared in the data flames.

”Looking for me?” Paradise Bird cut straight to the chase.

Last night’s battle, if it wasn’t for this person suddenly showing up and holding off those Neural Network Experts empowered by corporate will, the group might not have escaped.

For a hacker renowned on the Mother City rankings, everyone must show respect, let alone that she saved their lives.

Daisila explained her speculation in one go.

Paradise Bird pondered for a moment.

”So, you’re asking me to notify your leader to make a decision?”

”Yes.”

”That might be a problem. He’s not in the city, and I can’t reach him. During last night’s encounter, I sensed a hint of the Mechanical Main Brain over the corporate will. You understand what that means.”

You should know what that implies.”

The other side has already isolated the entire Sub-human Continent.”

Daisila immediately showed a look of disappointment.

”Don’t worry, your boss is very cunning,” Paradise Bird said nonchalantly.

”Rest assured, this is a life-or-death situation for you, but to a 60-level Virtual Life, it’s another matter altogether.”

”Don’t worry, your boss is very cunning,” Paradise Bird said nonchalantly.

On the outskirts of the Sub-human Continent, accompanied by the sounds of ’heave-ho,’ a young girl climbed out of the Sulfuric Acid River, carrying a huge Mechanical Greatsword on her back, out of which a row of energy vents lit up.

”What now, Boss?” Xiao Yu asked.

On her petite Mechanical Body, rows of energy ports were alight, propelling her in a certain direction.

”””
