Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 351: Chapter 123: Sub-human Continent

Business District, a certain building, Life Industry’s Human Experimentation Center

This place is like a high-tech version of a cold storage warehouse, with various human experimentation devices, brain extraction instruments, arm modification points, neural massage chairs, and all the tools Gao Gong needs for cell calibration.

He opened a petri dish, and the green numbers lit up—10404150

In a space no bigger than a sink, there were so many cells, and these were blank cells with DNA segments removed, essential materials for biological experiments.

Next to the ’sink’, there was a device resembling a desktop computer, called the ’Genetic Editor’, used for DNA calibration.

Beside it were several ’glass balls’ the size of fists, containing fine electrical sparks. These were special gene culture dishes that could simulate different types of environments, provided you know the specific parameters of the environment.

Gao Gong was quite satisfied with these pieces of equipment. This was quite a bargain he picked up. Without the Illusionary Union’s major exploits, just the cost of the equipment would exceed what he paid.

Next, as long as he uses these devices to create the [Planet Gene Sewing Net], there shouldn’t be any issues.

Of course, it is indeed a bit difficult to use Level 2 Civilization equipment to create Level 16 Biological Blueprints.

But if there are geniuses who can calculate nuclear bomb parameters with an abacus, then for someone who used to be a Level 6 Civilization bigwig, using Level 2 Civilization equipment to create Level 4 Civilization biological equipment is quite reasonable, right?

The brother and sister with the Corporate Will shared a look. The sister actively tugged on Gao Gong’s sleeve, leading him to a holographic projection, grabbed with her palm, and several holographic projections lit up, countless pieces of information appear.

These were all research projects by ’Life Industry’. Due to bankruptcy, various laboratories were either auctioned or closed.

But the data still belonged to the company.

Gao Gong roughly understood their intention and nodded.

”Open all the data for me to have a look.”

The next moment, a series of prompts appeared on the system panel.

[You have obtained Level 6 Research Blueprint [Brain Cell Research·Psychosis]]

[You have obtained Level 6 Research Data [Image Breeding]]

[You have obtained Level 8 Biological Blueprint [Artificially Cultivated Body: Medicine Seed People]]

[You have obtained Level 6 Neural Blueprint [Virtual Personality: Hippie Spirit]]

[You have obtained Level 6 Neural Blueprint [Virtual Personality: Punk Spirit]]

[You have obtained Level 8 Neural Blueprint [Swarm Mind] (Incomplete)]

[You have obtained Level 6 Neural Blueprint [Neural Driver]]

[You have obtained Professional Knowledge - [Personal Compilation], Intelligence +2]

[You have obtained Professional Knowledge - [Cognitive Science], Intelligence +2]

[You have obtained Professional Knowledge - [Beastial Gene], Intelligence +1]

...

Personal Compilation: Personality is a comprehensive of human dignity, reputation, and value, not a single factor. To create a virtual personality, the first thing to edit is the personality’s individuality, which involves a lot of professional knowledge.

Cognitive Science: How humans acquire, process, retain, and utilize information, both psychologically and physiologically, is a significant step in human evolution.

Beastial Gene: The survival instinct of organisms, containing the demand for microscopic expansion.

These three pieces of knowledge are all Level 10, which is at full level, but for the current Gao Gong, they don’t have much impact.

After all, his brain disc’s storage is enormous, and he is currently housing three big living people.

Its storage capacity is equivalent to a small database.

[Personal Compilation], [Cognitive Science], [Beastial Gene], along with the previously acquired [Artificial Psychology].

On the Civilization Panel, a professional knowledge chain lights up.

This professional knowledge chain is called [Virtual Personality].

And above it, there is actually another lit professional knowledge chain, the Cyber Hacker knowledge chain, called——[Neuro-Editing Technology].

Once another lit professional knowledge chain is gathered, after the ’Transformer Civilization’, another civilization panel can be lit up.

Brain Domain Civilization.

After digesting three professional knowledge items in a short time, Gao Gong can understand about seventy to eighty percent of the data.

Before going bankrupt, Life Industry’s experimental projects totaled sixteen, among which completed projects became blueprints, incomplete ones are incomplete blueprints, and those cut or failed are pure experimental data.

Gao Gong glanced at the sibling’s will and said, ”Which drugs were Life Industry’s best sellers?”

The brother extended his hand, and five drugs appeared.

’Intelligence Enhancing Medicine’, ’Mental Stabilizing Medicine’, ’Biochemical Beauty Medicine’, ’Virtual Medicine’, ’Body Sensing Connection Medicine’

Gao Gong opened the first one.

Intelligence Enhancing Medicine: Significantly improves memory, analytical ability, creativity, and other cognitive abilities.

”Does it really have such an effect?” Gao Gong asked.

”It does have an effect,” the sister said.

”It also has side effects,” the brother said.

Among the remaining four, there is one psychological drug, one beauty product, one medicine with a similar role to a ’Virtual Machine’, and one yellow medicine.

”Let me guess, Intelligence Enhancing Medicine is the best seller?”

Gao Gong stroked his chin and said.

”No.”

”This one sells the best.”

The younger brother pointed at the mental stabilizing medicine.

Gao Gong paused for a moment, ”Why?”

”For those with stable minds, it makes them unstable.”

”For those with unstable minds, it makes them think they’re stable.”

”...”

Gao Gong finally understood why this medicine sold so well; it turns out it’s suitable for both the normal and the abnormal, the scope of use is just too wide.

”Alright, let’s get to work.”

...

In the Sub-human Continent, a district the size of half of Nightless City, one must take a special boat to enter, as it is separated from the main district by a branch of the Sulfuric Acid River, where many monsters dwell in the waters.

A legislator once proposed building a bridge across the river to connect the Sub-human Continent with the other main districts, making governance easier.

The next day, this legislator was assassinated.

Once across the river, the world felt entirely different. Transformers here favored using exoskeletons that resemble ancient armor, and their weapons are mostly melee — electromagnetic blades, electric drill spears, saw-toothed swords, and the like.

It feels like stepping into an ancient mechanical world.

At this time, in the family dojo, Daisila donned a black martial arts outfit, next to her in a child-sized version was Matsushima Keiko.

The two girls had their eyes closed, seemingly meditating.

Daisila’s eyeballs didn’t move at all, breathing becoming increasingly long and drawn out.

Matsushima Keiko’s eyelids, however, would occasionally flutter, clearly slacking off.

Then, this high school girl secretly opened a slit of an eye to peek at Daisila.

In the candlelight, Daisila’s skin texture appeared exceptionally clear, almost like— a spider web?

The next moment, Daisila’s figure suddenly stood up with no warning, forming a knife with her hand and slicing through the air.

The row of candles ahead split abruptly, severed in two.

Then, they dissolved into electronic light points and disappeared.

With advancements in technology, training methods have also progressed.

These ’holographic candles’ tested not only the ’dynamic capture ability’ in reality but also the ’signal capture ability’ of the mechanical body.

If Daisila had a panel, she would know that at this moment, her level 30 had genuinely reached the full level.

The door opened, an old man walked in, seeing this scene, unabashedly expressing admiration.

”Daisila, you really reached the level the patriarch mentioned, ’not a single strand out of place, not a speck of dust.’”

”Your calculation abilities are truly extraordinary!”

Daisila remained calm in expression, ”It’s not that my calculation abilities are so strong; it’s just that my perception has become stronger.”

”Also, be careful with your head when moving forward.”

With the help of light, the old man finally noticed that at some point, strands of spider silk filled the entire room, each strand as sharp as steel wire.

The nearest strand was only a few centimeters away from his throat.

The old man’s expression immediately froze.

Daisila and Matsushima Keiko were both members of a family on the Sub-human Continent. Their family was a small one, one where the temple is small but the demon wind is strong, and the water shallow but the turtles are many.

The two ventured to the fringe area of the Iron Sand Desert to seek wealth, naturally due to some internal family strife or even experiences of being bullied.

Half a month ago, a brand-new Daisila returned, along with a group of advanced hunters.

The ensuing storyline includes classics like ’the War God returns to find his daughter living in a doghouse’ and ’thirty years east of the river, thirty years west, never underestimate a poor young girl.’

Daisila personally cleaned up the entire family, especially after mastering the divine techniques of the clan’s original patriarch; her status became as stable as Mount Tai.

A mechanical spider, the size of a palm, began to crawl over the walls, ceiling, and floor, spinning and threading silk, and soon, the marginalized patriarch and Daisila sat opposite each other.

At least on the surface, Daisila was respectful enough to the old patriarch, waving her hand for Keiko, who reluctantly served tea, sticking her tongue out at him as she did.

The old patriarch wasn’t bothered, just sighed, ”The new edition of the Sub-human United Conference is about to be held, and I wonder what decision they will ultimately make. Despite us doing mercenary work all over the world, we won’t go against Mechanic Industries at home.”

The Sub-human Alliance is a family foundation formed by all the families of the Sub-human Continent.

Shares are allocated according to each family’s power, and whenever a matter concerning the overall interests of the Sub-human Continent arises, a conference is held to vote and decide.

The shares combined of Daisila’s family and Matsushima Keiko’s family only amount to 5.6%, not much at all.

The top five families in the Sub-human Continent, the Kobayashi, Miyamoto, Black Hawk Family, Xiaoi Family, and Yao Family, collectively hold 51.3% of the shares.

Meaning, as long as the five families reach a consensus, the smaller families have no say on agenda matters.

However, the Kobayashi Clan recently encountered some issues; their most promising heir, Kobayashi Hideyuki, was severely beaten and injured, and now the family is embroiled in a fierce internal succession war.

Daisila listened quietly to the patriarch’s complaints, from his perspective, the Sub-human Continent has always been self-governing, never yielding to external forces.

Furthermore, the Sub-human Continent is notorious for producing mercenaries; asking them to install ’Moral Chips’ is akin to severing their livelihood.

Now, they’re asked to join the ’Illusionary Union’ and become peacekeepers; they’re naturally reluctant.

But facing a rising corporate giant alongside a mechanical main brain, even mustering the entire power of the Sub-human Continent, the odds of victory aren’t high.

In short, it’s all sorts of indecisive struggles.
