Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 385: Chapter 146: Man and Sword as One

”Captain Daisila, the scent turned again,” a black-nosed Biological Hunter said.

Daisila looked in that direction and pondered for a moment.

”So, the Clan Leader of the four great families isn’t in the Business District or the Main Brain Area, but in the Saint Domingo District—the former stronghold of the three major gangs?”

”Can we locate it?”

”Yes.”

Daisila signaled to the Yao Family member, who showed a look of surprise but didn’t hesitate at all and pressed a few times on a watch-like device.

Soon, a military map that was ten times more detailed than the ordinary Nightless City holographic map appeared.

The Biological Hunter lay on the ground and took a deep breath. This inhale felt like taking a neural drug; his expression was entranced, as a large amount of black hair protruded from his limbs and back, making him look like a mutated large dog.

The Biological Hunter was called Xiaoquan, nicknamed Little Dog, and the biological chip implanted in him contained a very special type of Radiation Dog cell, called the ’Nightmare Dog.’

In other words, this type of Radiation Dog feeds on dreams and can enter dreams.

This dream-entering distance can even exceed several hundred kilometers.

Professor Han conducted research on this ’abnormal phenomenon’ and quickly found that this dream-entering and dream-feeding were essentially a way of consuming neural signals.

Thus, the Radiation Dog, despite being only D-level, was made into a biological chip because of this special ability.

And this ability, after modification, became a long-distance method to track people.

Not by following the scent, but through neural signals.

So this tracking is almost unavoidable.

Soon, Xiaoquan determined a location, a textile factory in the Saint Domingo District.

”Can you confirm it?” Daisila asked.

Since Xiaoquan entered the Nightless City, his abilities have been problematic. The reason was simple: there were too many people in the city, and the various implant personalities and personality modification technologies made him feel extremely uncomfortable. In his words, it was like drinking a bowl of soup spiced with all sorts of strange seasonings.

But this time, Xiaoquan nodded very firmly.

”I can confirm it. Right now, this city is filled with a foul smell. Everyone is like this. It’s easy to distinguish between those with and without Moral Chips implanted.”

Daisila glanced at the Yao Family representative, and soon, the military hovercraft changed direction and disappeared into the sky.

The interior of the military hovercraft was exceptionally spacious, accommodating up to twenty people without issue, half of whom were Hunters, and the other half were Yao Family members. The Yao Family alone contributed five Level 30 Advanced Mercenaries.

However, compared to the Mechanical Blade Demon and Mechanical Sword Demon, these mercenaries only qualified as ordinary templates and haven’t activated Carbon Fusion, meaning their potential reaches its limit at this stage.

On the Hunter side, although most were lower level than their counterparts, each possessed an Elite Template, especially Daisila, who seemed to exceed the Elite cap of Level 30.

This indicated two things: First, the faction of the Mechanical Hunters was full of potential and had a promising future. Second, the high levels didn’t treat them as outsiders, using core technology for modifications.

Seeing this, the Yao Family representative couldn’t help but show an envious expression.

Sub-human Continent. The birthplace of mercenaries, homeland of Mechanical Samurai, base camp of the Mother City Warriors. These sound nice, but essentially, it’s an advanced cannon fodder production base.

Relying on the family’s unique ancient technology allows Transformers of the Sub-human Continent to accept more brutal, more inhumane Mechanical Transformations and be deployed to the most dangerous battlefields.

And those who survive naturally become Super Mercenaries.

The Yao Family representative sighed, shook his head, and looked out the window as Mechanical Eyeliners and military hovercraft crisscrossed.

The military hovercraft carried a Mother City license, so these Mechanic Eyeliners assumed they were from the Outer City and naturally didn’t inspect them.

After closing his eyes to rest for a while, the Yao Family representative got up to give orders.

”Triple Electronic Defense Wall, deploy!”

”Activate the Personality Fixer!”

”Neural Modeling - Temporary Thought Steel Seal!”

”Remove Ordinary Tactical Prosthetic Eye, implant Anti-Hallucination Prosthetic Eye!”

Within the military hovercraft, sets of surgical arms extended, performing targeted modifications on the mercenaries.

And a bunch of local Hunter yokels stood by, pointing and commenting.

”This is kind of cool.”

”Do you actually swap out eyeballs during battle? That’s hardcore. By the way, does it hurt? It’s a vital organ too.”

A Biological Hunter said somewhat enviously to Daisila, ”Captain, when will we get one of these too?”

Daisila leaned against the side wall of the military hovercraft, backhandedly thumping the other’s chest, and jokingly scolded:

”You envy them? They envy you too. Do you know what President Du has been doing on all those business trips this past half-year?”

”What you want, President Du will eventually get for you. But our gear is unique.”

This Biological Hunter rubbed his chest, where three rows of nine eyeballs lined up like the nine bamboos tile in Mahjong.

”That’s right. My eyeballs are way cooler than Prosthetic Eyes. Besides, I have eighteen eyeballs all over. There’s no time for a temporary swap anyways.”

The Yao Family representative heard this and showed a trace of disappointment. He was preparing to probe for possibilities of ’technical cooperation.’

It seems now that the higher-ups on the other side have enough foresight not to be easily deceived.

”The textile factory is the territory of the Deep Web Weaver known as the ’9th Spider Queen.’ Although she is the youngest among all Deep Web Weavers, her strength is formidable, ranking in the top three.”
