Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 356: Chapter 127: Laughing Bat (Part 2)

But the operating principle of the chip is that if something is ’problematic’, then it’s ’not doable’.

Unless there really is a type of person who 100% believes that everything they do is righteous, no matter what they do, it is an act of justice, then indeed, such people are outside the control range of the Moral Chip.

Such people are generally referred to as brain-damaged or, in other words, protagonists of hot-blooded anime series.

Such people are basically impossible to exist in reality.

Unfortunately, Xiaoyu is exactly this type of brain-damaged person.

”Little Jie is not at home.”

Xiaoyu murmured to herself. Ever since she felt the immense pain deep in Little Jie’s heart, she had to find out.

”Should we go back then?” the Mechanical Armor Soldier asked.

Xiaoyu swept around unwillingly, nodded, and suddenly said, ”Oh,” pressing her little ear against the wall.

”I seem to hear knocking; next door should be Uncle Hu and Little Cherry’s room.”

Xiaoyu still has a good impression of that big-bellied uncle who bought her lots of food.

But this sound is very rhythmic, not like the feeling of cleaning.

”I’ll go take a look!”

The Mechanical Armor Soldier shook his head, knowing that the girl’s sense of justice was overflowing again.

Following her intuition, Xiaoyu pried open the window, only to see that cute Bionic Man girl sitting in a room full of dolls, holding a bouncy ball, repeating the action of throwing it at the wall, throwing and retrieving, repeating it who knows how many times.

”Little Cherry, it’s me, your Sister Xiao Yu!”

The Bionic Man girl turned her head woodenly, her eyes vacant, then turned back and repeated her previous actions.

”Stop calling out, she’s recharging, the thought module is in ’sleep’ mode,” the Mechanical Armor Soldier glanced around and said calmly.

Sure enough, there were circuits lighting up on the ground, and there were fine electrical patterns on the girl’s exposed arm.

”Oh,” Xiaoyu scratched her head, scanned the pink and doll-filled room, put her hands on her hips, and sighed: ”Uncle Hu’s sense of aesthetics is really not great, doesn’t understand a girl’s mind at all. If it were me, I’d fill it with prosthetic bodies and weapons, preferably in a metallic skull style.”

Your style isn’t much better.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier internally complained, as the radiance in its electronic eye began to sweep around.

Although it is a product of the previous era, it is also one of the offshoots of the Destruction Plan, with some special technology that is rare even in this era.

”Hmm?”

The Mechanical Armor Soldier opened the second drawer, finding a stack of documents and a Thought Box.

The reason for his surprise was that this Thought Box, much like a 90s cassette player, was a product of their era.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier opened the documents, only to find death certificates, one for Mr. Hu’s wife, who appeared on the photo to be a gentle lady, who died of some kind of cancer.

And Xiaoyu, curiously having opened the Thought Box, saw a holographic image of a gentle woman, her face pale but with a smile, advising her daughter to eat well, sleep well, and not to think about her.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier flipped to the bottom only to find that there were two death certificates, the other one of a young girl who bore a 50% resemblance to the lady, died of the same cancer a year later.

It put the records down; the gray photo of the young girl looked exactly like the Bionic Man Little Cherry.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier, having recently browsed the news a lot, knew that many middle-class people, due to the death of a family member, would opt to customize a Bionic Man who looks exactly the same, to make up for the absence of family affection.

This relationship is called ’New Era Family Affection’.

Honestly, in its old-school view, this relationship is somewhat strange, since once a person is dead, they are dead, and no matter the resemblance, they’re ultimately not the same person.

But people of this era have become accustomed to it.

”Aunt Hu was really a good person, even reminding Little Cherry to eat properly,” after watching the entire ’Thought Box video’, Xiaoyu’s large eyes were now filled with tears.

”Alright, let’s head back.”

Xiaoyu handed over the Thought Box, and the Mechanical Armor Soldier took it yet did not put it back.

”Half.”

”Hmm? What?”

”What I mean is, this ancient encrypted Thought Box, what we’re holding is only half; there should be another half. The two combined could reveal the deceased’s real will,” the Mechanical Armor Soldier paused, ”Remember back on Fucheng Island, Xiao Yuanshan’s was a three-in-one Thought Box, even more advanced than this.”

Xiaoyu’s expression changed; she might be straightforward, but she wasn’t stupid. If Aunt Hu intentionally made a Thought Box and hid half of it, why did she do so?

The Mechanical Armor Soldier’s electronic eyes lit up once more, finally focusing on the Bionic Man girl Little Cherry. The bouncy ball in her hand was hitting a fixed spot on the wall.

”Xiaoyu.”

Xiaoyu pressed her lips together, hesitation flickering in her eyes, but finally made up her mind. Her mechanical hand suddenly grabbed the bouncy ball, while another hand pressed against the wall.

Opposite her, the confused eyes of the Bionic Man girl watched Xiaoyu, seemingly expecting something.

The master-level Gun Force activated, silently, as numerous cracks began to appear from the wall, and Xiaoyu felt something, her pupils suddenly widening.

As the wall split open, a decayed corpse suddenly crashed down from the wall, the intense smell of decay instantly engulfing the fairy-tale hut.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier stepped forward, prying a small Thought Box from the mouth of the decayed corpse, and fitted it into the larger Thought Box.

At the next moment, Mrs. Hu’s gentle expression turned ghastly and frightening, her wide eyes seemingly slamming towards Xiaoyu’s face.

”Cherry, run, run, run!!!”

...

At the Human Experimentation Center, Qin Chunzi, who was professionally squeezing out the employees, was temporarily called over by Gao Gong.

Once this female executive was fully exerted, the efficiency was amazing. Originally a small business with fewer than ten employees, it expanded nearly tenfold in a short time.

Of course, this also comes thanks to the Illusionary Union; due to the huge success of this emerging giant, Nightless City faced a wave of layoffs.

”Boss, you called for me?”

”Yes, take a look at this.” Gao Gong handed over a very special chip.

The reason it was special was that this chip was half microcircuit and half biological flesh.

Qin Chunzi curiously took it, and as soon as it was in her hand, the flesh part automatically embedded itself into her skin before drilling inside.

Qin Chunzi’s expression changed, and on her typically expressionless face, a strange smile slowly appeared as she tilted her head and looked at Gao Gong curiously.

After quite some time, once the chip bounced out, her expression returned to normal.

”How does it feel?”

”Very... peculiar.”

Gao Gong nodded, beckoning with his hand as the flesh part of the chip was drawn back in, leaving only the artificial half.

”The Moral Chip dominates the market; the production cost of personality chips in Nightless City is probably being squeezed very hard now.”

”Yes, the local virtual personality developers are either bankrupt or acquired; most manufacturers can only barely make ends meet now.”

”The parameters of the chip have been passed to you; I need to manufacture a hundred thousand chips like this in a short time!”

”Understood, I’ll have them produce at full power, and also mercilessly cut costs,” Qin Chunzi hesitated for a moment but couldn’t resist asking: ”Boss, what is this chip called?”

Gao Gong thought for a moment, then revealed a peculiar smile.

”Laughing Bat.”

Once Qin Chunzi left, Gao Gong sighed deeply and said, ”Little A, I’m going to isolate myself for three days, and during that time, I won’t respond to any messages, no matter what happens.”

”Understood, Master. Oh, what if it’s a message from Ms. Du and Ms. Rose?”

”I’d still take those; after all, they are part of my official duties.”

Very soon, Gao Gong arrived at a closed Human Experimentation Laboratory, casually pressing a few buttons, causing five refrigerated test tubes to rise.

Son of Fury, Sea Battleship Beast, Roaring Eye, Deep Sea Ghost, Aquatic Amphibian Beast

Five kinds of B-level Bloodlines, Gao Gong’s biological transformation fully loaded, all depending on these five.
