Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 355: Chapter 127: Laughing Bat

Punk Spirit and Hippie Spirit are the two completed projects of Life Industry.

Or rather, it is the company’s first step into the ’Virtual Personality’ industry.

Of course, just as they took that step, the moral chip devastated their headquarters.

This also resulted in these two types of personality chips having no chance for mass production.

The only reason Gao Gong is interested in these two chips is that he sees a glimmer of hope in deciphering the ’Moral Chip’ from them.

Whether it’s punk or hippie, both carry a sense of ’smashing old morals and establishing new ones.’

But just this is obviously not enough.

Because the Moral Chip itself can be viewed as a boosted version of a virtual personality.

Or rather, the ultimate model citizen.

Wanting to break through the moral chip with just these two chips, the firepower is still insufficient, and the algorithms are not on the same level.

”Little A, help me to unfold the codes of the two chips.”

”Okay.”

In the next moment, countless lines of green code rained down like a storm.

”Let me see how to create a ’Super Personality Chip’ suitable for players.”

...

It was another morning, Baozi cheerfully stepped out the door, happy because he had just unlocked a new expansion pack.

Adding this to the previous quest chain, his title as the quest prince was firmly established.

He hadn’t walked far before he heard the alarm, and two Mechanical Eyeliner and two Peacekeepers swiftly flashed by on the street, while gunshots could still be heard in the distance.

Baozi was stunned for a moment, honestly, this kind of scene was quite common in Nightless City half a month ago, but ever since the moral chip implantation started, not to mention car chases or gunfights, there hadn’t been even a quarrel seen.

Baozi suddenly thought of something, his expression turned grim, and he hurried after the Mechanical Eyeliner.

Just as he expected, several players, surrounded by Peacekeepers, were shooting wildly and shouting hysterically.

”Come on, come on, play what peace mode, let’s show you what nationwide gunfight is!”

”Install a damn moral chip, do you think we are pushovers? Got the guts to kill me, and three days later, I’ll be a hero again!”

”Damn, why is a level 20 Mechanical Eyeliner so hard to defeat, it doesn’t even lose any health!”

Baozi’s expression grew darker, for within the shopping mall where the players hid, he saw many civilian corpses, even children.

To be honest, Baozi wasn’t the saintly type of player; he’d smashed cars from one street to the next in GTA.

But this was different.

In his game, NPCs were almost no different from real humans, fighting gangs or crazy killers was fine, but most players would not harm civilians, there’s no great principle, just a pang of conscience.

Also, from a realistic perspective, the higher the combat power of a creature, the more experience it yields, what do you gain from killing civilians?

But in this world, there really are some chaotic players who don’t care, or rather, really like causing trouble!

In the past, it was better, with gangs everywhere, however, as their level increased, the monsters got easier to kill, leaving people more unsatisfied.

When there are no monsters, causing a ruckus is inevitable for these people.

”Moral Chip, Moral Chip––”

Baozi murmured to himself.

Soon, these players were shot dead by the Mechanical Eyeliner, panicked citizens began to emerge from various places, some cried, some screamed.

A woman broke down shouting, ”Is there a doctor? Is there a doctor? My son has been shot!”

”I am a doctor!!”

Without a second thought, Baozi rushed over, with a flick of his right hand, multiple mechanisms on his medical arm sprung open, containing small tools like scalpels, bandages, hemostatic scissors, prosthetic body inserters, etc.

Half an hour later, under the thousand gratitudes of that mother, Baozi watched as the boy was carried away on a hovering stretcher, exhaling a long breath.

”Twenty-three artificial data lost.”

A recording Mechanical Eyeliner stated.

”It’s really become a nationwide gunfight!” Baozi couldn’t help but curse, he suddenly realized that no matter the level of the player, as long as they wanted, they could easily become the best successors to terrorists.

Because they couldn’t die!

This is just the beginning, Baozi was absolutely sure, as long as the moral chip exists, as long as there are no monsters for players to fight in the game, this kind of thing will definitely happen again.

This is just the beginning!

Moreover, he also realized a problem.

If even players, the ones who are ’playing through life,’ start to rebel, can those with the moral chips really remain ’moral’ all the time?

Will they be able to stand it?

Baozi looked up, he suddenly realized something, as a doctor, he hadn’t yet re-visited his patients’ families!

...

Xiao Yu swiftly flipped over, accurately avoiding each surveillance camera, then quietly pried open the window and slipped inside.

This was Aunt Qinn’s room.

The Mechanical Armor Soldier followed behind, its Electronic Eye examining Xiao Yu curiously.

As an old-era robot, it wasn’t installed with a moral chip, so it could climb walls and windows.

But Xiao Yu was different, she was someone who had been installed with a moral chip, meaning she was required to follow the moral rules.

According to the news the robot watched, one of the operational principles of the moral chip is the ’differentiation’ from social order of one’s own actions.

Is spitting on the street a problem? Of course, since ninety-nine percent of people would think so, but it’s not a big deal, it’s not like public urination or defecation after all.
