Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Blood dripped onto the ground, one drop after another.

It drove those nuclear‑radiation zombies into a frenzy.

While the Jackals were refueling the helicopter, the Jackals kept the chopper hovering in mid‑air.

”City Lord, where are we going next?” the Jackals asked.

Li Yu thought for a moment. Now that they’d just refueled, it wasn’t far from that middle section of Wuyi Mountain along National Highway 528, so they might as well go take a look.

So he said, ”Follow 528 and go check out the area over by Wuyi Mountain.”

”Got it.” The Jackals nodded, then piloted the helicopter toward Wuyi Mountain.

At the same time, he synced what they were going to do to the Ants and the others.

The helicopter was fast; in less than half an hour,

they were over National Highway 528 in the middle section of Wuyi Mountain.

”Yeah, this is the place. Back then we saw those people luring the nuclear‑radiation zombies over along this road. Look, up ahead is the section they blew apart with detonators.”

Chen Delong pointed ahead, speaking excitedly toward where the searchlight was shining.

Everyone in the helicopter looked down.

They saw the national highway in this narrow mountain ravine cut clean off by rock from both sides of the mountains.

”How much damn explosive did they use for this...?” Li Tie said in shock beside him.

The Jackals thought for a moment and said, ”To blast it to this extent, actually, if the charges were placed right and you used the mountain’s structure, you wouldn’t need that much explosive...”

Li Yu shook his head, let out a sigh, and said, ”Fly over and take a closer look, see if we can find any trace of that group. Turn off the searchlight.”

Li Tie, sitting in the co‑pilot seat, hurried to switch off the searchlight.

To broaden their coverage, they raised the helicopter to an altitude of eight hundred meters.

That way they could see farther.

According to Chen Delong, there were two groups, one in front and one behind, adding up to several dozen people, so they should have a gathering point somewhere.

As long as they turned on lights at night, Li Yu and the others would be able to spot them easily from high above.

They had already entered the territory of Ming City and circled in flight for half an hour, but still hadn’t seen any lights.

”You’re sure the plates started with G?” Li Yu asked.

”Yeah, I saw all their plates starting with that. They should be from Ming City.” Chen Delong said, full of certainty.

The Jackals reminded him from the side, ”City Lord, we pretty much have to head back, or we might not have enough fuel.”

Li Yu said helplessly, ”If that’s the case, then let’s head back.”

The Jackals changed course and flew toward Big Camphor Tree Base.

With the electronic beacon, all they had to do was follow the red dot on the display and fly in that direction.

And take the straight shortest line.

An hour later.

Li Yu and the others returned to Big Camphor Tree Base.

It was already past ten at night.

After getting off the helicopter, Li Yu went to find Second Uncle and Third Uncle and carefully went over what had just happened again.

They’d used the military radio to give a rough outline earlier, but the noise in the helicopter inevitably caused some interference.

”You mean, we herd all those nuclear‑radiation zombies to Ming City, then kill them over there?” Second Uncle asked.

”Yeah, that’s the plan.”

”We might end up running into the people who drove the nuclear‑radiation zombies over here...” Second Uncle said after pondering a few seconds.

”If we run into them, even better. Time to settle accounts with them. Intentional or not, they damn near got us all killed.” Li Yu said, a bit angrily.

We’re talking about tens of thousands of nuclear‑radiation zombies. If they all clustered around Big Camphor Tree Base,

just imagining it made his scalp crawl.

If you kill this kind of zombie on the spot and don’t haul the corpses away for disposal, given enough time they’ll contaminate the soil, and one heavy rain later the groundwater will be polluted too.

If you haul these nuclear‑radiation zombies away, even with radiation protection clothing, there’s still huge risk in handling and moving them.

Besides, we’re talking tens of thousands of nuclear‑radiation zombies; all it takes is one slip‑up during cleanup for people to get killed.

Third Uncle suddenly spoke up. ”I’ll take a team to lure the zombies away. We don’t actually need that many people; let Old Qin and his men come with me and that’s enough.”

”We go scout first, see if we can run into that group, observe the situation over there. Right now the solar radiation is too intense; it’s not a great time to get into a fight. Xiao Yu, what do you think?”

Li Yu saw how Third Uncle, who usually rarely offered opinions, was taking the initiative to suggest a plan this time. Thinking it over, he felt Third Uncle had a point, so he agreed, ”Alright. Third Uncle, be careful out there, and keep in touch at all times along the way.”

”Okay, I’m going to turn in early. We head out tomorrow morning.”

Third Uncle said.

With that, he left the duty room, went down into the First outer city and told Old Qin and a few others about it, asking them to get ready to depart tomorrow.

....

Interchange at Highway 72.

Moonlight spilled across the land; the leaves on the trees reflected the light of the moon, swaying in the wind, looking like ripples across a boundless sea.

Yet under that serene moonlight, the ceaseless howls of zombies shattered the silence.

The Jackals spoke to the people on top of the gas station:

”Nobody take off your radiation protection clothing. These nuclear‑radiation zombies down there are no joke.

Even if we’re not in direct contact, we’re spending the night here. The base’s Internal Affairs Director just contacted me; the Research Room sent a warning, saying it’s best if we keep our radiation protection clothing on the whole time.”

Yang Tianlong, who had been feeling a bit stifled and was about to take off his helmet, said helplessly, ”Ah, fine. I was hoping to catch a breath.”
