Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Li Yu nodded and said to Li Tie and Li Hang, ”Take them over there. After you’ve set everything up, come and notify me. Then we’ll turn this on.”

”Alright.”

They then led Old Dong and the others to the transformers in the distribution room to set up.

About ten minutes later, Li Tie hurried over to let Li Yu know the power switch could be activated.

Without hesitation, Li Yu flipped the switch on.

Rumble, rumble.

With the switch turned on, the power system in the underground warehouse was instantly restored, bulbs lit up, and even the ventilation system on the warehouse ceiling was activated, sending a stream of air blowing.

Li Yu quickly made his way to the freezer near the entrance.

He pushed open the freezer doors forcefully.

There was some water on the floor, probably melted during the few hours the power was off, but very little had melted; most of the walls and floor were still covered in frost.

Glancing at the cold air vent exhaling chill, Li Yu knew the freezer was just fine.

He then proceeded to check a few other chambers, ensuring there were no issues before returning to the entrance.

”Later, send them out to continue making magnetic shields. Make more, perhaps we can restore power to other areas quickly,” Li Yu said after some thought.

He knew the magnetic storm would only last two days, but the sooner power was restored, the better for the base.

Hearing Li Yu’s words, Li Tie expressed comprehension and then left the area wearing radiation protection clothing.

Li Yu then glanced around the warehouse, closed the main door, and proceeded to the second layer.

After closing both doors of the underground warehouse, Li Yu looked at the mist outside, vaporizing rapidly under solar radiation.

It wouldn’t be long before the water source might face a shortage.

All along, the Big Camphor Tree Base had a great advantage in water storage.

A deepened and widened Mountain Pond covered more than ten acres, with a storage capacity of hundreds of thousands of cubic meters, and a reservoir at the mountain base could store tens of thousands more.

There were also a few small pools scattered around the three Outer Cities.

Additionally, every greenhouse had a water tank, with dozens accumulating considerable reserve.

Furthermore, there were wells distributed throughout the base that could provide water.

Despite the large reserves, water consumption was also high.

Now it was necessary to control water usage, with crop cultivation being the biggest user.

The current crop ratio must be changed.

Currently, the main crops are rice and sweet potatoes, complemented by corn and potatoes as staples.

Aside from dietary habits, the major reason is that Southern soil is more suitable for crops like rice; with its acidic nature, it’s not ideal for corn and others requiring neutral or alkaline soils.

Instead, sweet potatoes, other than rice, have become the most grown staple food.

First, the yield per acre is very high, and they are drought-resistant and hardy, with strong vitality.

Moreover, cultivation is very convenient; just plant a stem.

Additionally, sweet potato leaves can be used as vegetables, rich in vitamins.

Li Yu found An Ya, and without wasting words, said:

”With strong solar radiation, subsequent water supplementation will be difficult. From now on, decrease the proportion of rice cultivation and increase that of sweet potatoes. This should save a lot of water.”

An Ya thought and asked, ”To what extent should we adjust the ratio? If we stop the rice still growing, the loss will be significant. Some are about to mature.”

Li Yu furrowed his brow and said:

”Aren’t you using a rotation method? Don’t touch the ones already planted.

Just when replanting after the recent harvests, all should be replanted with sweet potatoes.”

”Okay, I understand.”

After giving these instructions, Li Yu put on his helmet and led Yang Tianlong and the others to place black insulation balls in the Mountain Pond.

These black balls, once in place, could block a significant portion of the sun’s heat, drastically reducing water evaporation from the reservoir.

....

Deep in Wuyi Mountain.

Lie four ”corpses.”

The best way to conserve food is to eat less; lying and sleeping is the most energy-conserving method.

Apart from eating a little food each day, they hardly went out, trying to sleep on wooden beds.

They hadn’t noticed when the downpour ended or seen the aurora.

They awakened because of the intense sunlight.

Sunlight seeped through the cracks in the house, illuminating inside.

Used to the darkness during the downpour, they were suddenly awakened by the bright light.

As soon as Tui Zi opened his eyes, he felt light all around.

”Am I dead, gone to heaven? Damn it!” Tui Zi shouted.

”What are you yelling about!” Chen Delong weakly looked at Tui Zi and said.

”So hot, this light isn’t right, look over there,” Zhuo Jun pointed to a beam of light coming through a window gap.

The light happened to shine on a pine oil barrel, which was made of plastic.

Illuminated by the beam, the light reflected was dazzling.

This was plastic, not a mirror.

??

What is this?

Tui Zi wanted to grab the beam with his hand, but Chen Delong shouted, ”Wait.”

Tui Zi withdrew his hand, looking at Chen Delong perplexed.

”Brother Chen, what are you doing?”

Chen Delong pointed at the oil barrel, saying, ”Didn’t you see the intense light?”

”Huh?”

Ignoring him, Chen Delong cautiously extended a finger into the light.

Hiss!

Pain.

”Brother Chen, what’s wrong?”

”Try it yourself, I won’t stop you.”

Curious, Tui Zi reached out to test it.

”Ow, ow, ow!”

After a long while, they realized one thing.

The rain had stopped, but the once gentle sun had also changed.

”Brother Chen, at least the rain stopped. Can we go back? You tried it just now; it’s okay with thicker clothing,” Tui Zi said.

Beside him, Zhuo Jun nodded and added, ”We have just a little food left. If we don’t leave, we might end up starving.”

Chen Delong pondered for a few seconds and then slapped his thigh, saying:

”Alright, let’s go, but we need to make some preparations first.”
