Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The torrential rain has persisted for over a month, and during this time, the vegetation in the mountain forest has grown rapidly.

In the Big Camphor Tree Base Inner City, the bamboo forest has seen the bamboo shoots grow increasingly tall.

Li Yu put down the military radio headset in the duty room.

With the help of the Mobile Switch Blade on the Oil City side, things have gotten much better.

However, the situation around the satellite cities surrounding the Big Camphor Tree Base is rather bleak at the moment.

The Fifth Satellite City hasn’t been in contact for quite some time, and Li Yu assumes that everyone in the satellite city has died.

The Fourth Satellite City is slightly better, but it’s too far from the base, without heavy artillery support, today Second Uncle contacted that Xu Taishan, and they have lost two-thirds of their personnel, leaving less than three hundred people huddled in buildings with the walls long breached by zombies.

The walls of the First, Second, and Third Satellite Cities have also fallen, yet their situation is slightly better than that of the Fourth Satellite City.

Before they retreated from the walls, the base launched a remote heavy artillery attack on a wave of zombies, and when they retreated into the buildings, they didn’t lose many people.

However, they lost a lot of people resisting the zombies.

Now, the total number from the four satellite cities combined is less than two thousand six hundred people.

This number is even less than the old cooperative personnel.

Originally, according to Li Yu and Second Uncle’s estimate, the survivors from the evacuation should be between six thousand to eight thousand.

Participating in protests and subsequent arrests killed a thousand, the Fifth Satellite City, with the most people during this torrential rain, was entirely wiped out, and the remaining satellite cities also lost considerable numbers.

The remaining people amount to only one-third of those who originally evacuated to here.

After seeing Li Yu dazed after contacting Oil City and the satellite cities, he sighed and walked over to Li Yu, saying:

”We have limited capabilities, not to mention whether bringing everyone into the base would cause internal chaos, but if they come in without food, how much food would we need to support them?

People driven mad by hunger will go crazy. The old cooperative personnel mostly have some food stored, even if they consume it all, they can have a portion loaned to them.

But if the new cooperative personnel come in, the pressure on food will be too great.”

Li Yu knew Second Uncle misunderstood him, thinking he was feeling miserable, but he wasn’t.

Because he was very aware of how much food was stored in the base.

Even if all new cooperative personnel were allowed in, he could support them for a while.

But why?

Why give away the food they painstakingly stockpiled and grew for others to eat, just to save more people?

Then what?

What is the benefit?

Is it the protests and rebellion that erupted previously?

Or the insatiable greed, wanting more?

In the Domsday era, sinister human hearts and ingratitude are something he’s seen too much of, no one owes anyone anything.

Besides, Li Yu believes he has done well enough.

The satellite cities were left for them to shelter from zombies, and even a small portion of food was left behind.

He..... has no regrets.

The reason for his daze is that the torrential rain has been falling for over a month, and by the look of things, it should soon end.

Second Uncle, seeing Li Yu not answering, poured him a glass of water.

”Drink some water, the rain outside has a taste of fish mint, it’s better to filter it and boil it before drinking to feel more at ease.” Second Uncle said.

Li Yu took the cup of water, nodded, and said:

”Don’t worry too much.

I asked Bai Jie and the others, they said that lightning discharges in the air can help purify the air.

Because lightning discharge produces a gas called ozone. Ozone has a strong oxidizing property and can decompose harmful substances in the air, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, etc.

This ozone is a light blue gas with a special smell, low concentration smells like grass, high concentration like fish mint.

Recently, due to the torrential rain and thunderstorms, there’s too much lightning. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing... um.”

Li Yu suddenly paused.

He remembered that after the torrential rain, the intense solar radiation is indeed a downside, isn’t it?

The sustained torrential rain for so long has carried away dust and fine particles in the air, reducing their effect on sunlight’s diffuse reflection, combined with abnormal solar flare activity.....

Seeing Li Yu stop mid-sentence, Second Uncle asked curiously, ”What’s wrong?”

Li Yu shook his head and said, ”Nothing, just suddenly thought about the research room studying the zombies, Bai Jie told me last time that they found a large number of cancer cells in the body of the jumping-type zombie.

Based on their research findings, even though the individual has already died, the cells can still survive for a long time. Within 24 hours after death, some mice still have over 1,000 genes maintaining activity, some more active than before death, especially those triggering cancer genes.

So, the reason this zombie can change is because of the increase in cancer cells, the increase in cancer cells is related to trace elements in the rain, but they couldn’t find the source of infection, it’s hard to figure it out....”

Second Uncle considered for a moment before saying:

”If I remember correctly, that Ma Di once said that the outbreak of the virus originated from an Outer Heaven Meteorite, they used this meteorite to refine medicine that could treat cancer, and later the injection of the medicine caused the zombie outbreak.”

”Is there a possibility, if we find this meteorite we’ll find a solution to the zombie virus?”
