Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The magnificent aurora filled them with excitement, a breathtaking sight.

They immersed themselves in the stunning aurora.

For a long time.

Zuo Ruxue suddenly asked, ”Did Director Li say why the power system was shut down?”

Ju Tianrui shook his head and said, ”No, he also told us to make good use of the radiation protection clothing. But I haven’t figured out how to use it yet...”

Zuo Ruxue was completely baffled, unable to understand.

But having been at the Big Camphor Tree Base for two years, she had some understanding of Li Yu’s way of handling things, so she didn’t ask further.

Remembering the earlier misunderstanding, she began to speak, ”Sorry about that, I thought you were....”

Ju Tianrui raised his hand, indicating it was okay, and said,

”No worries, I understand your thinking; it’s my fault for not communicating earlier.”

Dong Tai chimed in from the side,

”Zuo Ruxue, I also apologize for calling you crazy earlier, hahaha.”

The misunderstanding was resolved.

Zuo Ruxue then asked, ”Did Director Li leave any other instructions? The radio is down now, and we don’t know when we’ll be able to contact the base.”

”Hmm... not really, Director Li didn’t give any other instructions. He just said if any special situation arises, we shouldn’t panic and should wait here with peace of mind.”

”Wait?” Zuo Ruxue asked.

”Yes, wait. I suspect Director Li might know something. After all, there’s a research room in the Inner City of the base, and Ma Di is also there. As far as I know, Ma Di was a research staff at the pharmaceutical company responsible for creating the Zombie Virus.

It might be possible, I’m just saying it might be, that the research room discovered something and informed Director Li. And then....” Ju Tianrui spoke.

Zuo Ruxue furrowed her brows and said, ”But how could the research room predict this torrential rain and the sudden appearance of the aurora?”

Ju Tianrui let out a long breath, smiling and said, ”There’s so much irrationality these days, with zombies appearing, maybe irrational is the new rational.”

Zuo Ruxue was feeling a headache, these things challenged her understanding.

The Doomsday, truly baffling.....

They stood there watching the aurora, while the other team members came out, marveling at its beauty.

They turned off the generator, now without electricity.

But they still had oil, and refined gasoline, ample for lighting.

So the lighting issue wasn’t a big problem, but being unable to contact the base worried them a bit.

Being over a thousand kilometers away from Big Camphor Tree Base, the distance made them uneasy.

After all, for them, the existence of the Big Camphor Tree Base was their source of confidence.

”Stop overthinking, although the torrential rain has ended, the aurora in the sky is beautiful but could be unpredictable. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be left with radiation protection clothing.” Ju Tianrui said.

Dong Tai and Zuo Ruxue both nodded in agreement.

”Camp Commander, what should we do now, is there anything else we need to do?” Dong Tai asked.

Ju Tianrui thought for a while and responded:

”Alright, don’t mess with the power system since it’s shut down, lock it up.

Also, maintain the previous duty intensity, have the brothers be vigilant, look out for any unusual situations, and report them immediately if any arise.” Ju Tianrui answered.

Dong Tai nodded, turning away to make arrangements.

Zuo Ruxue hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Is there anything I need to do?”

”Uh... Go to the military radio and try to contact Big Camphor Tree Base every hour. If you get through, let me know immediately.” Ju Tianrui said.

Zuo Ruxue nodded and walked into the conference room.

Ju Tianrui gazed at the endless aurora with an apprehensive look in his eyes.

Such a splendid aurora, beautiful as it was, yet it concealed hidden dangers.

The radio and walkie-talkie were both knocked out.

Who knows what will happen next, but he understood one thing, to stay unchanged amid change.

Worrying too much before things happen won’t help.

Just as Director Li said, wait...

......

Northern Border Alliance.

Inside the inner walls, on the top floor of a luxurious residence.

A man draped in mink furs quietly watched the aurora in the sky.

Beside him stood a man who looked like a butler, standing respectfully by.

”Second Young Master, the rain has stopped, and we’re just five people short for the exploration team recruitment. Now that the rain has stopped, the progress can be accelerated, estimated to be completed in three days. When should they depart?”

The young man, called Second Young Master by the butler, nodded.

He said, ”As soon as possible.”

Receiving such a vague answer, the butler cursed inwardly.

Damn it, the exploration team was to be formed ”as soon as possible”, so he had been trying to recruit and assemble them as quickly as possible.

Now, asking about the departure time, it’s also ”as soon as possible.”

As soon as possible my ass.

The butler had thousands of complaints in his mind but dared not express them.

Instead, he continued to respond respectfully, ”Understood.”

He had no choice, for he relied on this gentleman for a living.

No matter how unreliable he was, he had to serve him well.

”Alright, you may leave now. Tonight, I wish to enjoy the aurora here.” Second Young Master said.

”Very well, I shall leave then.” The butler retreated.

”Hold on, please bring me the deck chair. I want to sleep outside.” Second Young Master instructed.

”Understood.”

He brought out Second Young Master’s most beloved deck chair, intricately designed with a layer of his favorite mink fur on it.

Lying on the deck chair, Second Young Master swayed slightly, watching the aurora, before slowly closing his eyes.

Inside the outer walls.

In the densely packed shanty homes, many people rushed out to see the breathtaking aurora.

Outside one of the edge shanties.

A pair of siblings stood on the open ground, watching the aurora in the sky.

”Xiao Yuan, don’t go fishing anymore, it would be troublesome if the Outer Wall Guards caught you.”

The young boy, upon hearing this, looked at his sister under the aurora, his eyes full of melancholy.

His heart ached slightly.

He was just about to argue back, he couldn’t possibly rely on his sister using her body to exchange for a meager amount of food, right?

But, ultimately, he didn’t argue.

He just gently nodded and said, ”Alright, Sis, you shouldn’t do that either. We’ll find a way to survive.”

For the survivors at the bottom in the Doomsday, without resources or strength, they could only fight with their lives.

Hearing Xiao Yuan agree with her, the young girl smiled.

The moment she smiled, it was as if a peony bloomed.

The girl was already quite beautiful, but life had ravaged her quite severely.

”Yes, things will slowly get better, as long as we are alive, everything will improve.” The girl murmured, unsure if she was speaking to herself or to her brother.

Only, she herself didn’t know if it was a hopeful expectation or just a self-convincing reason to encourage herself.

The young boy watched the aurora in the sky, his thoughts wandering.

The rain had stopped; now he had to find a way to join the exploration team.

Previously, the exploration team didn’t want him, thinking he was too weak; he needed to find a way to join. After all, the benefits provided by the exploration team were substantial.

Maybe I can find Mr. Diao for help, ask him to speak for me.

But, how can I get him to help me?

The young man pondered silently in his heart.

.....

The aurora quickly disappeared.

All was silent.

The young master lay on the lounge chair on the balcony, comfortably asleep.

He was in a place with a great view, with nothing blocking the surroundings.

Time passed by the minute and second.

The temperature gradually rose.

Six o’clock in the morning.

The sun came up.

Invisible solar storms surged forward.

Crackle——

The power grid sparked.

In an instant, the entire Northern Border Alliance’s power system collapsed.

The whole city blacked out, and the lights suddenly dimmed.

The factory inside the wall, originally operational, suddenly stopped working.

The underground planting area inside the city, the additional lighting also halted.

However, the city did not plunge into darkness.

Because the sun came up.

At the moment the sun appeared, the intense sunlight was like a ball of fire, rushing toward those in the city looking at the sun.

”Hiss! Damn! My eyes.” A man on the wall watching the sunrise suddenly squatted down, clutching his eyes and crying out.

This scene was not unique; many others were just like him.

Crying and covering their eyes.

The sun scorched the earth, and the vegetation that once thrived in the rain slowly dried up in the sunlight and finally fell into the soil.

But most people were asleep, unaware of what was happening outside.

Yin Xi, the head guard at the highest watchtower’s outer wall, heard the cries from outside and quickly ran out.

But as he stepped into the sunlight, the scorching rays hit his skin, and a wave of heat came.

He quickly stopped.

What’s this?

He took a step back, hiding in the shadow by the door.

He tried putting his hand into the sunlight.

One second.

Two seconds.

Three seconds.

He quickly pulled his hand back.

His hand exposed to the sun was now red and scorching hot; he touched the exposed skin, feeling some pain.

Yin Xi thought to himself: Such strong sunlight!

He was only in the sun for three seconds!

How can this be!

His thoughts raced.

He turned around, put on the coat from the watchtower, and draped a big piece of clothing over his head.

Tentatively, he walked out.

No problem, he just felt the heat on the clothes.

Seeing his men on the wall covering their eyes, he shouted with his back to the sun, ”Don’t look directly at the sun, everyone retreat to places out of sunlight, quick, quick, quick! Those who can see, take those with eye injuries.”

He ran and shouted continuously.

Some people heard his shout and quickly ran to the shadows.

Others had already realized the situation and immediately ran after feeling the sun’s power.

Yet some people, due to looking at the sun when it appeared, suffered temporary blindness, unable to see the road and crying out not knowing where to go.

”Grab my coat tail and follow me.” Yin Xi walked to a subordinate whose eyes were burned and said.

The subordinate grabbed his coat tail, endured the intense pain, and followed.

Soon.

They all retreated to places out of the sunlight, cries everywhere.

”I can’t see, I can’t see.”

”Help me check my neck, I feel like something’s bitten it.”

”Hiss, your neck’s skin is rotten.”

The man touched his neck, and a small piece of skin was pulled off.

”Ah! It hurts so much.”

....

Yin Xi looked at this chaotic scene and said, ”Don’t touch the areas exposed to sun, if the skin peels off and gets inflamed, it will be troublesome.”

Then he looked at those who weren’t injured and commanded:

”Wen Bao, go report the situation over here.”

”Liao Wei, go get the medical kit, treat the brothers.”

”Remember, protect your whole body, don’t get exposed to the sun.”

...

At the same time.

In that luxurious house within the walls.

On the balcony.

The young master, who originally planned to enjoy the aurora at night, simply slept outside.

Now he was dreaming.

A nightmare.

In a dream, he found himself in a sea of fire, surrounded by flames.

So hot, so hot.

He felt a ball of fire burning on his face.

He could no longer endure it, angrily slapping the flames on his face.

”Ah!!!”

He awoke.

A blood-red scene.

There’s a layer of skin on his hand.

His face a bloody mess.

Pain, pain.

Intense pain from his face, ankles, and hands.

”Ah ah! My eyes, my face, someone help!”

....
