Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Since the base started mass-producing bullets, strict control over them has remained, but their training has continued without pause.

Everyone in the Inner City gets an allocated quota every week for practice, and people in the Outer City can also access some, albeit in smaller amounts.

All used bullet casings must be fully recycled, and the bullet heads must be cleaned, followed by melting for reuse.

Seeing Li Zhengping and the others study earnestly, Old Lv teaching them on the side, Li Yu watched for a while and then left.

In the afternoon, he found An Ya again to inquire about the current state of the crops.

An Ya took him to inspect the crops, which were all growing well.

”It rained a while ago, and the Mountain Pond reservoir is filled up again, so we have no water shortage. Moreover, after some upgrades, we’ve gone from traditional irrigation to a more efficient system of sprinklers and drip irrigation, saving a lot of water.

This means that even if we face severe drought and high temperatures like before, relying solely on groundwater and the two reservoirs would suffice for five months....”

An Ya took Li Yu to check on the conditions inside the greenhouse.

Li Yu nodded approvingly as he looked at the lush crops: ”Not bad, very good.”

An Ya continued: ”Besides rice, we’re also mainly growing potatoes and corn at the moment. These crops need water initially but require little attention later on. They only need drip irrigation once every two weeks, making them easy to manage.”

Li Yu looked at the flourishing crops, and said to An Ya with great satisfaction: ”An Ya, it’s all thanks to you. You’ve done really well. You deserve much credit for this success!”

An Ya felt a bit embarrassed upon hearing this, quickly waved her hand, and said:

”No, no, Director Li, you overpraise me. There are many reasons why the crops are thriving. Besides our base having a stable water supply, fertilizer is also very important.

We’ve solved the issue of artificial and compound fertilizers, so there’s no problem on that front. This was mainly because your Second Uncle led Zhou Weiguo and Bai Jie in establishing a reasonable system.

The waste from people and the hundreds of livestock at the base is processed in septic tanks and composted, which helps the crops grow so well.

We really have to thank them.”

Li Yu looked at An Ya, whose face, still a bit sunburned, seemed tense and slightly flushed as she faced his praise.

He smiled and said: ”I know, I know, but your contributions are also significant. Keep up the good work!”

Then he paused and asked: ”So, is there anything you want? I’d like to reward you properly.”

Since taking charge of the base’s planting, An Ya, originally of a normal complexion, had become quite tanned.

After handing over the planting responsibilities to her, Li Yu no longer had to worry about it.

For any power, food production is most important. Being able to continuously produce food is paramount.

An Ya is capable, hardworking, and particularly obedient, devoting herself entirely to the base’s crops every day.

Seeing Li Yu about to reward her made her small face turn red, the dark skin giving it a reddish hue, her clear eyes showing hints of nervousness.

”No need, no need, Director Li. I feel being able to do what I love is already great. I don’t lack anything. The base provides food and a safe residential environment, and they occasionally issue supplies. I’m already very satisfied.”

With her hands waving, An Ya refused repeatedly.

Li Yu, seeing her like this, felt even more strongly about rewarding her.

Since she had made such significant contributions, the more she declined, the more Li Yu wanted to give her a reward.

So he said somewhat domineeringly: ”No, you must state a request. As long as I can fulfill it, I’ll do it for you!”

”Speak!”

Li Yu insisted strongly to An Ya.

His tone carried a hint of a command.

An Ya’s face reddened, though it wasn’t very noticeable against her dark complexion.

Her face was a mix of black and red.

”I really don’t have anything I want.”

”No, you do.”

”I really don’t think I have anything I want.”

”It’s not about what you think, it’s about what I think. I believe you have something you want.”

”Let me think then.”

”Okay, I’ll give you two minutes. Think carefully now.”

........

....

Silence.

An Ya lowered her head, seeming to be in deep thought.

Two minutes later.

Li Yu asked, ”Have you thought about it? Time’s up. What reward do you want?”

”I want an electric scooter. Now that the base’s plantation areas have expanded across the Inner City, both Outer Cities, and there will soon be a Third Outer City, it would make it convenient for me to visit them.....”

As she spoke, her voice grew quieter.

Li Yu’s eyes widened incredulously: ”That’s it? I remember we have electric scooters in the base. You can just ask Li Hang or Li Yuan for one. This doesn’t count! Pick another. In the future, if it’s something like this, just ask them directly. They’ll give it to you.”

”Choose another, something unrelated to work, just personal, what you personally want.”

Li Yu said helplessly, having her finally make a request, and it’s such a simple one, and aimed at making her work easier, ultimately still for planting.

This also sparked an idea in Li Yu’s mind. Now that the base has the Zombie Generator and has expanded significantly, commuting takes time.

An electric scooter is a good means of transport, yet aside from the dozens in the base, the ones outside are already defunct.

They had been flooded, and the batteries were essentially unusable.

But it’s not a big problem; he could have Old Dong take care of it.

An Ya’s face turned a deeper shade of red, and after much thought, she finally said: ”I like to listen to music and would like a pair of good headphones.”

Li Yu turned his head and said: ”Sure. That’s simple. I’ll get you a good one, no, three. If any of them break, just ask me for another.”

Seeing An Ya struggling to come up with a request, Li Yu shook his head, feeling it would be too difficult for her to come up with something elaborate.

He simply said: ”Alright, the warehouse should have some. I’ll ask Li Yuan to get them for you.”

In the early days of the Doomsday, they went out to gather supplies, transporting them from hospitals, pharmacies, and various stores, one by one.

After all, these things were free, and rather than leaving them there, it was better to bring them back to the base; they might come in handy one day.

And indeed, bringing them back proved useful, as the cities had long been scavenged.

”Thank you, Director Li.” An Ya seemed relieved, expressing her gratitude to Li Yu.

Li Yu felt helpless, pointing at her, thinking she had little ”ambition.” Given a rare chance, most people would propose something challenging, yet she made such a simple request.

This just made Li Yu think even more highly of her.

That day, Li Yu spent his time patrolling the base inside and out, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions.

On the planting front, operations continued smoothly. An Ya wasn’t just working like an employee doing her job, but truly loved planting. She seemed to find joy in seeing seeds germinate, grow, and yield, constantly seeking improvements. She’s now researching how to grow more food with less land.

Within the base, they had downloaded various literature and resources before the Doomsday. She has also been studying Yuan Lao’s materials.

On the farming side, Zhou Weiguo was also doing well, and Li Yu gave him the opportunity, which he used to ask Li Yu to find him a wife....

Li Yu agreed, suggesting he look among the Extra Staff and the Outer City to see if there’s anyone he likes.

In the end, Zhou Weiguo took a liking to the newcomer, Shen Xiaoxiao.

This shocked Li Yu for a while—she’s the 1.85-meter tall, muscular woman.

Old Zhou, as it turns out, had his eye on her right from the get-go.

But since Li Yu promised, he handed this task over to He Chao to arrange a meeting for them.
