Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The group has been busy all day. Li Yu gave Li Tie another drone from the Unimog truck, so he wouldn’t have to get off.

Five people sat in the truck, turned on the air conditioning inside, dissipating the heat of the day. They slowly ate dinner while watching the sun set outside the window. As soon as the sun set, darkness fell quickly.

By six forty-five, it was already dark.

Hearing the incessant roar of zombies on the right, Li Yu glanced at the drone’s screen. After switching to night mode, he could slightly make out the situation on both sides of the road.

The five people formed shifts as usual, each taking a two-and-a-half-hour guard duty, totaling twelve hours. By seven o’clock the next day, daylight would break.

They closed the windows, leaving only small gaps for ventilation.

The night was not tranquil. Li Yu took off his helmet and lay on the bed in the Unimog truck to rest.

Li Tie and the others didn’t get into the Unimog, but slept in their own vehicles.

The cab of a typical truck usually has a small sleeping area for people.

The evening breeze was gentle, no rain tonight.

In the middle of the night, though some zombies reached the flyover, they couldn’t break through the barricades made of scrapped vehicles placed by Dapao and the others in the evening.

The night passed uneventfully.

After a full night of rest, the group finally recovered.

Early in the morning, they started their vehicles, heading back to Big Camphor Tree Base.

Anxious to return.

All in all, it’s been ten days since they left Big Camphor Tree Base, and it would take at least three more days to return.

Returning fully loaded, but because of the long journey, they did not dare to relax their guard easily, always staying combat-ready.

........

Big Camphor Tree Base.

Third Uncle, along with Ant and others, had already made two trips from Guang City without resting, returning once more to the Big Camphor Tree Base on this day.

Inner City, villa area.

On the steps outside the villa building, Second Uncle and Third Uncle sat side by side.

”Old Three, nothing unexpected happened during these two trips, right?” Second Uncle said to Third Uncle, while gnawing on a corn cob.

Third Uncle stretched lazily and replied, ”Nothing happened, it went quite smoothly. Probably one more trip will get all the remaining steel back.”

Second Uncle nodded, was silent for a moment, then suddenly stopped and said to Third Uncle, ”Sigh, I wonder how Little Yu is doing. It feels like they’ve been gone for ten days now. Calculating the time, they should be back soon.”

Third Uncle replied, ”It’s about time. According to the time Little Yu set initially, it should be no more than half a month. Given Little Yu’s steady nature, nothing would likely go wrong. Don’t worry.”

One could say that although Second Uncle might not excel in combat, he was the one most concerned within the base, managing internal affairs, ensuring the base runs smoothly, and watching over the progress of the Third Outer City construction, coordinating both internal and external personnel.

”Once Little Yu returns, the walls of the Third Outer City should be halfway done, already built to twelve meters high. Speaking of which, Old Dong’s pneumatic electrical device that Ding Jiu and the others reported is quite useful; he’s truly a talented person.” Second Uncle said with a smile.

Though Third Uncle didn’t understand these things, he agreed, ”I don’t get these parts. I’ve seen Old Dong a few times, and I feel like he has a good nature and capability. It’s probably time for him to know about the Zombie Generator. Perhaps, once he knows about this, he may develop something new that’s beneficial to the base.”

Second Uncle pondered for a while and said, ”Anyway, if Little Yu returns, it would be these days. The matter of the Zombie Generator has been banned; it cannot be leaked without permission. Whether to tell Old Dong about the Zombie Generator’s existence should be discussed together once Little Yu returns. His opinion is quite important.”

Third Uncle nodded in agreement with Second Uncle on this point.

Unconsciously, they had grown accustomed to consulting Li Yu when handling major matters.

Second Uncle and Third Uncle chatted for a long time before finally getting up to busy themselves with their own tasks.

Construction site of the Third Outer City.

Ding Jiu, Xiao Liu, Xiao Liu, and others have been staying under the sun, significantly tanned over these days.

With the collaboration of numerous Cooperative Personnel and Extra Staff, after days of coordination, efficiency improved greatly, speeding up the construction of the Third Outer City’s walls.

The walls of the Third Outer City were almost changing daily, being built at an incredibly fast pace.

.....

After resting for just one day at the base, Third Uncle once again set out towards Guang Steel Factory.

Accompanied by Xiao Jun, Guo Peng, Zhu Xiao, and others, they were busy but happy, knowing that once they transported all the steel back, their trial period would have a resolution.

If there’s no accident, it’s highly likely they will be upgraded from Extra Staff to Outer City personnel status.

During these days, they were always on the vehicle, waking up to drive, guarded against zombies at night, their nerves constantly tense, making them extremely tired.

On the third day of Third Uncle’s departure.

Li Yu and others drove non-stop from Cheng City, finally crossing into Gan City territory four days later, establishing contact with Second Uncle and others.

Luo, who was on patrol outside, heard the news of Li Yu and led a dozen people to meet them.
