One hour, two hours, three hours.

Finally, at noon, the rain stopped.

The sun outside became exceptionally bright.

”Brother, this drone can probably only hold for one or two more hours. Should we go out now?” Li Tie pondered and said.

Li Yu looked at the circular steel plate above. Through the gap previously blown open with C4 explosives, he could vaguely see a few zombies on top. It’s just that he didn’t know if the zombies had given up as they were no longer pounding the circular steel plate.

Li Yu was silent for a moment, watching the scene on the drone.

From the drone, they could see that there were still many zombies at the entrance of the abandoned warehouse, and even a dozen or so zombies beside the cars they parked at the entrance.

So he said, ”Let’s wait a bit longer, at least until all these zombies leave.”

As time went by, half an hour later, these zombies started to disperse. Some entered the abandoned granary to avoid the sun, while others moved to nearby houses.

Seeing this, Li Yu stood up and dressed properly, putting on the anti-explosion suit and helmet.

Seeing Li Yu do this, the others knew it was time to go out and started preparing together.

A few minutes later, Li Yu looked at everyone and saw that they were all ready.

”I’m going to open the door now. Zombies might rush in as soon as I open it, so be prepared,” Li Yu turned his head and said to them.

Everyone nodded, and Li Yu slowly walked up the stairs, pulling the crossbar with force, making a noise that was neither too loud nor too soft.

”Hmm?” Li Yu was puzzled. Why wasn’t there any zombie growls?

It doesn’t make sense; there must be zombies outside, so why were they indifferent?

So Li Yu forcefully pushed the circular steel plate upward.

Pop!

The circular steel plate was flipped open by Li Yu.

Swish!

Almost at the exact moment, two zombies squeezed through the opening.

”Damn!”

Li Yu jumped down from the steps, rolling and tumbling across the floor.

Thud thud!

Two zombies fell from the opening.

They almost brushed against Li Yu’s helmet as they came down, missing by just a hair.

Soon after, more zombies fell, dropping like dumplings, patter-patter.

After rolling down, Li Yu quickly ran towards Li Tie and the others.

Bam bam bam!

Simultaneously, Li Tie and the others opened fire, shooting bursts.

Almost every bullet accurately hit the zombies’ heads.

On both sides, there were two people each, one crouching, one standing, continuously picking off the zombies.

Like dumplings, over thirty zombies dropped down one after another before it finally quieted down.

And below the opening, the bodies of the zombies had piled up into a small hill.

”Let’s go, this damn place is too oppressive,” Li Yu cursed, then walked into the zombie pile, sticking a dagger into the visible zombies’ heads.

Although these zombies had been headshot and they were wearing anti-explosion suits, theoretically, these zombies couldn’t bite them.

But the habitually cautious Li Yu would rather spend two minutes to stab each of these zombies again.

Stepping on the pile of zombie corpses, one couldn’t help but feel tense, as if at any moment a zombie might suddenly stretch out a hand and grab your foot.

The pile of zombies was about two or three meters high. Li Yu stepped on the bodies, crouched, and quickly climbed up.

Whoosh—

After reaching the first floor, Li Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn’t stay where he was but peeked from an antique room, looking out at the abandoned warehouse.

Looking around, he didn’t spot any zombies. It seemed that the thirty or so zombies that just jumped down were basically all the zombies from the abandoned warehouse.

Zombies have a herd mentality, unconsciously moving with the larger group.

Soon, Li Tie and the others came up as well.

After coming up, seeing the sunlight shining into the abandoned warehouse, they felt as if it was another day.

The generator in the underground chamber had been moved to the car yesterday during the day, so they couldn’t generate electricity.

Although they had portable lamps with them, to conserve power, they only used one lamp at a time.

In the dark underground chamber, although relatively safe, it was also very oppressive.

Seeing the noon sunlight shining on the mottled glass, almost all the glass had been shattered by zombies and had fallen to the ground.

The ground was littered with broken glass.

The sunlight shone on the shattered colorless glass pieces, refracting small colorful light bands on the ground behind the glass.

This was due to the different angles of refraction caused by different colors of light in white light passing through glass.

These colorful light bands were numerous, illuminating most of the abandoned warehouse, looking magnificent, but with the ruined, temporarily useless items inside, it appeared both desolate and breathtakingly beautiful.

Li Yu was momentarily stunned at this sight, but quickly turned his head and said to everyone, ”Let’s go, we’re on a tight schedule. Hurry up and organize. It would be best to leave the Western Alliance today.”

The past couple of days had left him exhausted; he just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

Coming out of the abandoned warehouse, even with a helmet on, he could still feel the scorching sun.

The sunlight after the spring-summer rain carried a stifling heat.

Li Yu circled around the vehicles parked at the entrance, noticing many new scratches on the car body, especially on the front panel, where dents had formed on both sides, likely caused by ramming two trucks the night before.
