Chapter 1208: Chapter 746: Fall and Bystander [Monthly Ticket Requested]

They chose a more tightly sealed, sturdier granary, and arranged for more guards there.

For Old Zhuang, who has been managing the Western Alliance comprehensively all along, he is very familiar with the situation inside the base.

This granary is one of the safest places in the entire base, almost without a doubt.

In the sky, Dapao observed the scattered crowd, and the large number that Old Zhuang gathered caught his attention.

”Brother Yu, it seems all these people are heading to one place,” Dapao said.

Li Yu maneuvered the drone towards Dapao, also witnessing the scene.

He instructed, ”Keep your eyes on them and find out where they’re going.”

”Everyone, make sure to record everything. With so many zombies entering, although most people will die, if some hide well enough, they might escape. Record carefully, so we can prioritize these spots when we clean the battlefield tomorrow,”

Li Yu reminded everyone, and they all nodded in agreement.

Very soon.

As Old Zhuang led his group running to the granary, he saw that all the personnel who were supposed to be on duty around the granary had disappeared.

This granary resembles a bunker, standing six meters tall without windows on all sides, with just a small door barely three meters wide.

Right now, the door is tightly shut.

Seeing this, Old Zhuang gritted his teeth in anger, took a few steps back, and shouted upward, ”Old Che, I know you’re in there, hurry and open the granary door.”

Old Che stuck his head out; he had seen a large group of people running over while on duty and had heard four explosions too.

Although he didn’t know what had happened, he felt it wasn’t something minor.

Without further ado, for the granary’s safety and to prevent a repeat of the previous grain theft by Zhou Liu’s families,

he immediately ordered the guards to retreat inside the granary. As long as the door was shut, nothing should go wrong.

Looking at Old Zhuang, Gan Xiong’s favorite subordinate, who often directly assigned him tasks and had quite a subordinate relationship,

Old Che shouted, ”Steward Zhuang, I’m just protecting the granary, learning from past bloody lessons to be prudent.”

”Cut the crap and open the door. I have something to tell you.”

Old Che hesitated before asking, ”What was all that explosion about? I heard today that many zombies suddenly rioted outside. What’s going on?”

Facing Old Che’s questions, Old Zhuang was very impatient.

If it hadn’t been raining, the zombies would have caught up during their conversation because of their slower movement.

”Hurry and open the door, let me in to tell you. The boss sent me!” Old Zhuang urged again, taking out an order from Gan Xiong to press him.

Old Che found it a bit strange but also feared Gan Xiong, so he gestured for a subordinate to go and open the refined steel door.

As they slowly opened the door, Old Zhuang and the others didn’t wait for it to be fully opened and rushed inside.

Upstairs, Old Che still hesitated, leaving the window.

Intending to go down and greet Old Zhuang and the others.

A subordinate beside him suddenly spoke, ”Brother Che, look there! Zombies, zombies infiltrated the base.”

”What!?” Old Che exclaimed, panic-stricken, pressed against the window to see.

From the East Wall, masses of zombies were slowly approaching.

”They’re over here too!” Another subordinate pointed to the south.

At this moment, Old Che finally understood why Old Zhuang and the others came over.

What happened? How did it come to this?

Seeing zombies densely packed like ants, Old Che’s body trembled with fright, his eyes filled with panic.

To be honest, despite the issues within the Western Alliance, he still felt safe within the base.

But now, with zombies appearing in the base itself, and so many of them, it signifies: the Western Alliance has fallen.

Facing this terrifying reality arouses a strong sense of anxiety in him amidst the panic.

Not only him, but his subordinates beside him felt the same way.

They seemed to sink into an indescribable terror.

Suddenly someone shouted and headed downstairs, ”My wife and kids are still at home.”

He began trying to rush downstairs.

But before he could reach the staircase, a group of people pushed him back up.

”Make way, make way,” he tried to push through the crowded people.

But Old Zhuang and the others did not budge, standing like a wall, leaving no gap for him.

”I suggest you stay put; zombies are everywhere outside,” Old Zhuang said coldly to the man.

”No, I need to save my wife and kids, move!” His eyes turned red as he attempted to brandish his gun in threat.

The next moment, Old Zhuang grabbed him by the collar and dragged him to the window.

Within that brief moment, the zombies were now only ten meters away from them.

”You want to leave, huh? How will you go? Go on, how!”

Old Zhuang dragged him to each of the four windows.

In all four directions, there were zombies. Given the density, leaving meant instant death!

Witnessing this, he slumped to the ground in resignation.

He buried his head, sobbing bitterly.

Old Zhuang spoke to the two behind him, ”Assign two guards downstairs; don’t let anybody out. Opening the door means death for us all.”

”Understood.” After experiencing everything earlier, Old Zhuang’s companions felt more convinced by him.

If Old Zhuang hadn’t made the decisive choice not to blindly follow Gan Xiong’s orders to resist the zombies but immediately selected this location and arrived,

Without him, they probably would be dead by now.

”Old Zhuang, what’s going on here?” Old Che asked, worried, slowly walking over to Old Zhuang.

”The Western Alliance is finished!” Old Zhuang stated directly, cutting to the result.

.......

Time passed slowly.

Starting from a little after three with explosions, zombies infiltrated.

The Western Alliance slowly turned black as if a white sheet soaked in black ink.

From all four directions, spreading until the center was also dyed.

Roars, screams, and gunfire broke the silence of the night.

Witnessing what unfolded in the Western Alliance, Li Yu and the others were silent.

They were even somewhat fearful of the enhanced Zombie Attraction Potion’s allure.

By half-past four, within just half an hour, the Western Alliance was overtaken by zombies.

In the Western Alliance’s Southwest Corner, under the Zhou family’s rooftop, zombies gathered, greedily pouring in.

The gate to Zhou’s family’s courtyard was crashed open by frantic zombies and fell to the ground.

The building inside and outside was swarming with zombies.

Eventually, one zombie managed to get to the rooftop first.

Its bloodshot eyes glinting with intense desire, hands outstretched, its pace quickened.

Crash!

The zombie fell on the ground, trying to shove a broken glass bottle into its mouth, but at that moment, its glass bottle was snatched away by four or five hands.

It let out an angry growl, trying to retrieve it, but the next second, its body was pressed down by other zombies.

It was submerged beneath its own kind.

The liquid in the bottle, dried by the wind, still couldn’t quell the zombies’ attraction to it.

These zombies hungrily grabbed the dust and stones with the liquid on them and stuffed them into their mouths.

Greedy and brutal.

Li Yu lowered the drone, just thirty meters from the zombies, quietly observing and recording.

The reason he dared to do so and implement this plan hinged on a premise: zombies wouldn’t mutate by drinking this liquid.

Because these zombies were so frenzied for the potion, would it immensely benefit their bodies?

Actually not, as Bai Jie once explained.

It’s like a drug; despite no benefits to the body, why do people crave it?

This liquid acts like a catalyst, a drug for zombies.
