Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Suddenly, the hairs stood on end, a sense of crisis coming from the right side.

Bang!

A bullet flew past.

At the same time, before the gunshot rang out, he’d already rolled forward and fired two shots into the dark corner on the right.

Bang bang!

He rose slowly, seeing a terrified man on the right, holding a gun pointed at him.

There were two bullet holes, one on his nose and another on his stomach.

Hit in the nose, the bullet splattered brain matter onto the wall behind.

Li Yu looked expressionless, walked over to the window, pulled open all the curtains and brightened the room, scanning it without finding any living people.

Then, gunshots rang out from downstairs.

”Brother, I’ve dealt with three people downstairs, now heading to the second floor.” It was Li Gang’s voice who had just separated from him.

Li Yu then left this room.

No one was in the hall.

There were four rooms here.

Apart from the room where someone was just now, he still needed to check the other rooms.

The second was empty.

The third was empty.

About to push open the last room, Li Tie’s voice came through the headset: ”Someone ran out from the northwest corner of the second floor.”

Dapao urgently stepped on the accelerator, bypassed the main door, and drove to the back of this small building.

Li Yu kicked open the last door, found the room empty, with some unfinished food on the table, and the glass on the window had been opened.

Li Yu hurried over, seeing someone jumping off the building, madly running towards the neighboring houses.

Just about to shoot.

Bang!

The person was shot and fell down.

Dapao, right hand on the steering wheel, left hand holding a handgun, fired a shot out of the car window.

Li Yu glanced, seeing the enemy had been dealt with, then left the room.

There was still one more floor to check, but after going upstairs, no one was found.

Thus, Li Yu and Li Gang collected the weapons and ammunition inside this building, then went downstairs.

Li Yu stood on the first floor, looking at the door blocked by scrapped refrigerators and such, with a steel rod diagonally inserted behind the door.

No wonder it couldn’t be opened just now.

”Tiezi, report the second location, lead the way over.” Li Yu said.

He didn’t want to get in the car again, to avoid trouble.

There are still several places to clear, must finish quickly.

Li Tie suspended the drone, looking at a few places recorded last night.

”At the 16 o’clock direction, about 50 meters away, there’s someone in that house.”

As he spoke, Li Tie suddenly noticed over ten people coming out from a place that looked like a factory to the west.

”Brother, people are coming out from the west, it looks like they’re leaving the Western Alliance.”

Li Yu hesitated for a moment, then said: ”Gangzi and I will handle things here, can you guys go over there to deal with it?”

Li Tie turned to glance at Dapao seated at the driver’s position, then back at Tianlong.

Both nodded.

Li Tie steadied his mind, said: ”No problem.”

”Good.”

Vroom——

Dapao stepped on the accelerator, speeding towards the west where over ten people were escaping in the opposite direction of the collapsing wall.

Meanwhile, with Li Yu.

The two synchronizing perfectly, ran towards the red house over ten meters away.

While running, Li Yu seemed to sense something, felt someone watching secretly.

A faint sense of crisis wafted over.

Li Yu didn’t immediately turn his head towards that direction, but stopped running suddenly after thirty meters.

His head hadn’t turned yet when the gun in his hand was already pointed to that direction.

Bang bang!

He fired two shots.

Sixty meters away, behind a container, a person fell down.

This person held a gun, initially planning to shoot at Li Yu, but his shooting skills weren’t high, and his bullets were limited.

Thus he kept seeking an opportune moment to shoot.

Yet, unexpectedly, the rapidly moving runner had already spotted him, and fired blindly.

Even as he fell, he couldn’t understand why.

Couldn’t fathom how Li Yu managed it.

Li Yu noted down the location, thinking to clean it up later.

Soon, they reached the outside of the red house.

The house had open doors, broken glass, seemingly smashed by zombies last night, with no sound coming from inside, suggesting no one was there.

Li Yu walked in cautiously, focused.

He saw Gangzi jump in through the side door, quickened his pace, and ran inside.

Stepping into the house, he surveyed the surroundings, sensing no presence.

Gangzi had entered earlier, opened various doors, shrugged at Li Yu indicating no one was there.

The two searched upstairs, unable to find anyone.

Could it be everyone fled?

It seemed reasonable, considering the drone could surveil from overhead, but the Western Alliance territory was truly vast.

Some places were marked, but people had likely moved by dawn, which made sense.

They descended the stairs, finding no one on the first, second, or third floors.

Li Yu noticed that the buildings within the Western Alliance mostly weren’t built very high, except for the Water Tower and two Observation Towers.

And a few other seven or eight-story buildings, with most being three-story small buildings.

Just about to leave, Li Yu suddenly spotted a basement next to a staircase.

This basement was tightly shut, Li Gang glanced at Li Yu then leaned forward to twist the door handle.

At the instant Li Gang twisted the door handle, a strong sense of crisis hit.

Li Yu shouted towards Li Gang: ”Watch out!”

In an instant, gunshots erupted from behind the door.

Bang bang bang!

Bullets hit the chest of Li Gang’s anti-explosion suit, sounding muffled, with one hitting his bullet-proof helmet, clanging before deflecting onto the wall.

Li Gang felt like his chest was fiercely hammered twice, quickly moved to the wall corner behind the staircase.

Li Yu sideways, looking at the dark basement, feeling a sense of trepidation.

”Gangzi, are you alright?” Li Yu asked, a bit worried, glancing at Li Gang.

Fortunately, they wore anti-explosion suits and bullet-proof helmets.

These suits were filled with large amounts of Kevlar, with bullet-proof plates at critical points, so they certainly could stop bullets, even better than bullet-proof vests.

Given some bombs, when exploding, have fragments reaching ten times the speed of sound, much faster than bullets, if an anti-explosion suit is made with higher bullet resistance, it’s quite normal; thus, ordinary handgun bullets can mostly be resisted, although avoiding close-range direct fire is crucial.

However, if faced with something like the 7.62 caliber sniper rifle bullets, despite being narrow, with immense power, they’re tough to withstand.

Li Gang felt chest tightness, breathily gasping, unable to speak well.

Raised his hand, gestured OK to Li Yu.

Li Yu felt somewhat angry, more inconvenienced.

Pulled two hand grenades from his waist, both ring-pins removed.

Waited two seconds and threw them directly into that pitch-black basement.

Leaned immediately against the load-bearing column, shielding from the ensuing impact.

Boom!

The violent tremor made the two outside feel as if encountering an earthquake.

Stone chips and wood shards spewed from the basement, littering the floor.

The power of two hand grenades was enormous, even caving parts of the staircase leading upstairs, yet the building remained intact, but the basement...

Following the explosion, no sound emanated from inside.

After ten seconds, Li Yu peeked with his headlamp, signalled Li Gang to wait outside while he went inside alone to investigate.

He hurriedly reached the basement, its wooden door blown apart by the flying fragments.

Sprinted down, the basement was small.

Only about thirty-square meters, its contents disarrayed.

Facing the basement stairs were two bodies, shredded by the explosion.

Further away, near the corner wall, a man with blood trickling from his mouth, gut pierced by shrapnel, spotted Li Yu entering.

The light shone on his face as he coughed bloody froth, asking Li Yu: ”Who... are you?”

Li Yu observed him closely, noticing his right hand hidden under his right leg’s pants.

Bang!

Li Yu, without hesitation, shot him immediately.

Then walked over, uncovers his right leg.

Right hand that was beneath his right leg, held a handgun, aimed directly where Li Yu had just been standing.
