Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1224: Chapter 754: Escape to the Secret Chamber

Night falls.

Clouds obscure the moon.

In the vast central area of the Western Alliance, on the rooftop of the four-story granary, Yang Tianlong holds an assault rifle, surveying the surrounding Zombies.

All around the granary, Zombies are densely packed, colliding into the vehicles parked near the granary during the day, making banging sounds.

Most of the parked vehicles are large trucks, not small cars, so they can effectively block the Zombies.

Amid the Zombie howls, occasionally a human scream or wail echoes from afar, these are people from the Western Alliance; during the day, Li Yu and the others hadn’t discovered them, but at night, these Zombies came out.

Li Yu looked up at the sky, his expression somewhat heavy; he didn’t know if it would rain tonight.

But just now, they were already surrounded by Zombies.

If they were to reach Gan Xiong’s secret room a hundred meters away, they would have to take risks, and Li Yu didn’t want to risk it unless necessary.

Relying on the outer layer of parked trucks, they successfully blocked the Zombies’ attacking pace, occasionally a Zombie slips through the gaps, quickly resolved by Dapao with his spear downstairs.

The drone has been put away; there is no great need for it to hover above now.

On the third floor, Li Gang watches Lao Che and others, his gaze worriedly fixed outside the window.

Li Tie and Dapao are downstairs, looking around, quickly dealing with the few Zombies that slip through.

Li Yu and Yang Tianlong are on the rooftop attacking Zombies from above.

They’ve brought all the portable lights, dispersing them around the granary to illuminate below, allowing a clearer view, eliminating the need for Li Tie and others to use night vision goggles.

The evening wind blows the stench from the Zombies over, nauseating anyone who smells it, but luckily Li Yu and the others have helmets on and don’t smell much.

They aren’t using firearms now; the loud noise would attract more Zombies.

Few Zombies sneak through the vehicle gaps, so Li Tie and Dapao can handle them easily.

Third floor.

Lao Che and the others hear the howling Zombies outside, displaying frightened expressions.

Er Gou nervously says, ”Um, do you need our help, an extra person, an extra hand.”

Li Gang hears this, looking at Er Gou’s expression a bit surprised.

Prisoners volunteering to help?

This feeling is somewhat strange.

Li Gang then tells Li Yu what Er Gou said, Li Yu ponders a moment, then says, ”No need, we can handle it now.”

Even with all his experiences, Li Yu is a bit taken aback hearing Er Gou’s words; he’s unexpectedly obedient.

The Zombies outside keep gathering, but due to the parked vehicles’ obstruction, not many can get in.

Time slowly passes.

Zombies squeezing through the vehicle gaps into the compound aren’t increasing.

Once inside, the Zombies begin feasting on their fallen comrades’ corpses instead of immediately attacking Li Tie and others.

Li Tie and the others seeing this, take comfort, watching the Zombies eat; but there are a couple Zombies that attack them, which Li Tie and the others simply deal with.

Li Yu watches the sky, feeling uneasy.

If it rains, everything will become very troublesome.

In a torrential downpour, evacuating with just the five of them is difficult, let alone with Lao Che and the others; it would be impossible.

The people on the third floor, without a doubt, would have to be left behind.

Furthermore, without them, the resources they’ve seized, only a portion could be transported back to Big Camphor Tree Base with just the five of them.

The most crucial part is, they’d later need to risk crossing from the granary to the scrap warehouse.

The road in between will be very difficult to traverse.

Unless absolutely necessary, Li Yu doesn’t want to evacuate from here.

...

With no rain yet, the Zombies occasionally sneaking in are swiftly dealt with by Dapao and the others.

It feels like a fragile balance has been reached.

Two hours pass by just like this.

Suddenly, Li Yu feels a small stone hit his helmet.

Drip!

Li Yu’s mood instantly turns heavy.

Damn, the inescapable Murphy’s law.

The more you don’t want something to happen, the more it will.

Li Yu takes off his helmet, lifts his head to feel it.

A raindrop falls on his face.

At the same time, Li Tie yells below at Li Yu, ”Brother, it’s raining!”

Li Yu’s heart sinks, seems like there’s no choice now.

It’s raining, and unlike at Big Camphor Tree Base, they have no towering walls, or mobile switch blades continuously clearing Zombies.

Zombies in the rain are extremely terrifying.

Li Yu’s expression turns grim, shouting down to Dapao, ”Prepare to evacuate.”

Then he bends down, slings the prepped ammo over his shoulder, and rushes downstairs; Yang Tianlong slings his rifle on his back, carrying two ammo boxes, stomping down the stairs.

Dapao also runs up to bring down the ammo boxes just moved up, while Li Tie guards the Unimog RV, preventing Zombies from approaching.

The three make two trips to load all the ammo back into the vehicle.

Spring and summer rains come suddenly.

From the raindrop hitting Li Yu’s helmet to the pouring rain outside, only three minutes pass.
