Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 934: Chapter 648: Near Completion, Xiao Xue Falls at Night

He then went to the balcony of the room.

The glass on the balcony was closed, so Li Yu opened the window to let some air in.

The cold wind blew in, carrying away the moisture from the room.

Li Yu felt a slight chill, as he had just taken a shower and was only wearing pajamas, so he picked up a blanket from the sofa stool.

The heating was still on; he couldn’t be bothered to turn it off.

It was only going to be a few minutes of airing anyway.

Li Yu lit a cigarette and looked at the bamboo forest on the right.

The wind rustled the bamboo leaves, creating a gentle murmur.

It carried a sense of nature and tranquility.

The anxiety that had been building up in Li Yu’s heart slowly began to ease.

”As long as we solve the greenhouse problem, and the electricity issue, we won’t need to worry for the next few months,” Li Yu said softly as he exhaled smoke.

A few minutes later.

Close the window. Go to sleep.

The next day.

The people at the Big Camphor Tree Base got up early.

Upon waking up, the white frost on the ground made it look as if it had snowed last night.

Li Yu did not go outside to exercise this morning.

Instead, he went to the base’s gym and ran five kilometers, taking only 14 minutes.

Then he did two hundred push-ups to keep it simple, then a hundred pull-ups, and with that, his brief workout was done for the day.

If it hadn’t been so cold today, his exercise routine would have been at least twice as intense.

Grandpa, also an early riser, watched Li Yu’s routine and said approvingly, ”Xiao Yu, your physical fitness is impressive.”

The kids who had been woken up early to exercise also looked at Li Yu with admiration.

Among them, a little one, Li Suxin, proudly said to the other children, ”That’s my big brother!”

Two older girls, Lv Zifei, daughter of Old Lv, and Xiao Jing, daughter of Lao Xie, were two years older and said helplessly, ”We know, we know, we’ve already heard.”

It’s always the same.

Li Yu chatted with Grandpa for a while.

Then he walked over to the kids, patted Li Suxin on the head; little Suxin was the youngest at the base, and didn’t really need to wake up to exercise because she was too young, but she was so energetic that she wanted to join in everything.

Li Suxin’s face flushed red, and Li Yu pinched her chubby cheeks.

Time had flown by; nearly two years had passed since the Doomsday, and little Suxin had already celebrated her seventh birthday.

Time flies.

In a few months, Li Hang’s wife, Ding Qingqing, would give birth, and then the base would welcome its first newborn child.

That would be very significant.

Speaking of which, yesterday there was news from He Chao’s side that a couple was also expecting.

.......

That day, the weather was in their favor. Although it was cold, there was neither strong wind nor snow.

The construction progress of the greenhouses in both the Inner and Outer Cities had reached three-quarters completion.

Just one more morning and they could finish the work; by afternoon, they would have connected water and electricity and installed the heating and lighting systems.

The completion of the greenhouse would be within reach.

Despite the fatigue from continuous days of hard work, the thought of being able to produce a steady supply of food once the greenhouses were built filled everyone with motivation.

...

Another busy day passed.

After everyone finished eating and washing up.

In the middle of the night, light snow began to fall from the sky.

Snowflakes quietly descended.

Li Yu was asleep in his room when he heard a voice on the walkie-talkie: ”Xiao Yu, it’s snowing.”

Half-dreaming and half-awake, he quickly put his feet on the carpet in his room.

With his feet firmly on the ground, he woke up quickly.

”Okay, I’m awake.”

”We’re over by the greenhouse; do you want to come over?”

”I’m on my way.”

Quickly dressing, he hurried downstairs.

Outside, the snow fell gently, landing on his shoulders. He walked anxiously towards the greenhouse.

A few minutes later, he arrived under the Inner City greenhouse.

There he saw Second Uncle and Ding Jiu, among others, using plastic sheeting to cover the equipment and solar panels.

In the cold weather, Li Yu’s breath was clearly visible as white mist.

Seeing Li Yu approach, Second Uncle said worriedly, ”Now that it’s snowing, we have no idea how long it will last. The construction was about to be finished, and now this happens. Should we stop and wait until the snow stops before continuing?”

Li Yu looked at the light snow falling everywhere, pondered for a few seconds, then said, ”Just do a simple cover-up, let’s stick to the plan tomorrow. We must finish it by tomorrow. It’s getting colder, and right now it’s only light snow; it might get worse later. Let’s push to finish it tomorrow, even though we’re so close; whatever it takes, we have to complete it.”

Seeing Li Yu’s firm determination, Second Uncle nodded slightly and said, ”Alright.”

Plastic sheeting was draped over, covering the solar panels.

The concern wasn’t that the solar panels would get damaged, but that they would freeze over if left out in the snow, making it difficult to continue construction.

........

A few hundred kilometers north of them.

The Poyang Lake area.

A scene of misery.....
