Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 918: Chapter 643: Smiles and Tears (Triple Chapter, 6,500 Words)

The convoy got on the highway, and their speed noticeably increased, but to allow the vehicles behind to catch up, they were only driving at forty to fifty kilometers per hour.

Yun Gui is full of plateaus, so there are many tunnels on the road as well.

These tunnels, if it were before the Doomsday, would have lighting, but after the Doomsday, they lost power.

The inside of the tunnels is pitch black, and sometimes zombies hide within.

Especially in those super long tunnels, tunnels as long as ten kilometers are guaranteed to have zombies inside.

Liu Cunyi looked at the Southwest map in his hand. Ahead of them was Guan County, and there would be a high bridge tunnel, a very long high bridge tunnel, ten kilometers in length. At their current speed, it would take over ten minutes to get through this tunnel.

But this tunnel is so long, and if there are zombies inside, they will be in big trouble. If the vehicles in front are blocked, the ones behind can’t continue to move.

This is a very dangerous road.

But if they don’t pass through this tunnel, they will have to make a very large detour, adding an extra two hours to their journey.

Liu Cunyi felt that it was better to be cautious. Although he also wanted to reach that ethnic minority area in Yun Province sooner, entering the tunnel was too risky.

He had the convoy stop, but not turn off the engines, and he got out of the car.

He walked towards the car where Zhou Zhisheng was.

With dozens of vehicles, there were too many cars, and it took Liu Cunyi quite a while to find Zhou Zhisheng’s car.

Zhou Zhisheng saw the cars in front stopping and was a bit puzzled when the driver said to him, ”Liu is coming over.”

The car door opened.

Zhou Zhisheng got out of the car and tossed a cigarette to Liu Cunyi.

He asked, ”What’s up? Did something happen?”

Liu Cunyi furrowed his brows and said, ”There’s a tunnel ahead, a very long one. If we pass through it, we might encounter zombies. These days zombies like to stay in dark places. We haven’t seen many zombies along the way; they could very well be inside the tunnel.

I’m thinking we might as well take the small roads, not the highway. There’s a village road down below; if we go that way, it will add about two more hours. What do you think?”

Hearing this, Zhou Zhisheng lit the cigarette in his hand and sat on the roadside barrier of the highway, saying, ”Let me think about it.”

Liu Cunyi saw he needed to think and didn’t rush him. Instead, he lit a cigarette himself, took a deep drag, and exhaled slowly.

Looking around, because the convoy had stopped, most people in the cars got out to get some fresh air. Although the cars were warm, the bumpy road made them feel somewhat nauseated.

With so many people inside the vehicles, opening the windows made it cold. With the windows rolled up and the heater on, it was a cycle of breathing in and out of the foul air.

People from other vehicles also got out to rest and stretch their bodies.

Zhou Zhisheng, smoking slowly, said, ”After the natural disaster, the roads aren’t easy to travel on. The highway is somewhat better, but if we take the village road, it might be even harder to travel. And with those extra two hours, we definitely won’t reach there today, right?

If we don’t reach there tonight, we’ll have to camp outside again, which is also very dangerous.”

Zhou Zhisheng was deeply frightened by last night’s lesson.

So many zombies started charging over from around three in the morning, truly terrifying.

Liu Cunyi thought for a moment and said, ”But taking the tunnel is also very dangerous.”

”Then let’s send someone to scout ahead. If there aren’t many zombies and it’s clear, we’ll take the tunnel. If not, we’ll take the village road. Send someone to drive faster, go check it out, doesn’t that solve it?”

”That’s doable,” Liu Cunyi said. This approach was indeed relatively reasonable.

First, send a Vanguard Team ahead to clear the obstacles.

Nodding, he said to Zhou Zhisheng, ”Alright, and here, take this.”

He said, tossing a short-wave walkie-talkie to Zhou Zhisheng.

”I don’t want to have to get out of the car every time to talk to you. Let’s communicate by walkie-talkie from now on. Also, for the Vanguard Team, each family should send out five people to go and see ahead.” Liu Cunyi said.

Zhou Zhisheng nodded, saying, ”Alright, I’ll find people, and have them come to you shortly.”

Liu Cunyi said, ”Okay, quickly. We can’t waste time; let’s get driving soon as possible.”

After saying this, he jogged quickly to the front, picked a collateral member of the Liu Family—someone who usually didn’t see eye to eye with Liu Cunyi—and asked him to bring some people who relied on the Liu Family to scout ahead.

Of course, this collateral member was unwilling, but he couldn’t refuse. His wife and parents were here; if he didn’t go, and was expelled from the Liu Family, they’d be left to fend for themselves.

Reluctantly, this Liu Family collateral member had no choice but to agree.

On the other side.

Zhou Zhisheng hesitated in his heart for a while, eventually choosing Zhou Xiaou. He had a sharp mind and could complete the task well.

Then he had Zhou Xiaou bring a few people and drive a vehicle over to Liu Cunyi.

By this time, the Liu Family was also ready. Liu Family collateral Liu Sishui, along with Zhou Xiaou and others, sped up their vehicles and drove ahead.

This place was twenty minutes away from the tunnel and village road fork, so the Zhou and Liu families got back into their vehicles and continued driving forward.
