Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Changing a person is the most challenging thing in this world.

Although it’s said that a reformed prodigal is worth more than gold, examples of such transformations are few and far between. Profound enlightenment usually comes only after some significant accident.

For Li Yu, this was deeply understood. In the base, the people chosen were often scrutinized during the vetting phase for insights into a person’s character. If someone’s behavior revealed any issues, Li Yu would not allow them to join the base.

To date, the people who had joined the base were all still of decent inner nature.

But on the way back, after encountering the obstruction by Wu Laoer, they found there was not enough time to return to the base, and they could only seek temporary refuge from the zombies at the lathe factory.

Night fell, and the zombies began to emerge, just as the sun was setting.

During today’s events, Li Yu had been observing Old Qin and the others in secret.

With his many years of experience in the post-apocalyptic world, he believed he had gained some insight.

After more than twenty minutes, Li Tie and the others finally had the truck’s tire replaced. They started the vehicle and drove back towards the lathe factory.

Their location was not far from the lathe factory, but it would take about fifteen minutes to get there.

Once the sun had set, the residual glow might still illuminate the earth, but as time passed, it would get darker more quickly.

Already, a few scattered zombies appeared along the road.

Li Yu and his group obviously wouldn’t pay them any mind and drove straight over them.

The zombies’ bodies that were flung up could only fall to the sides of the road, adding to the apocalyptic atmosphere.

”Everyone speed up, try to get back to the factory before it gets completely dark,” Li Yu shouted to the people in the other vehicles through the walkie-talkie.

The vehicle sped up again, and everyone grew more anxious.

The journey continued in silence.

As they proceeded, more and more zombies began to appear.

Since the sun had set and the light wasn’t so strong anymore, zombies started emerging from the shadows.

When there was one kilometer left to the lathe factory, Li Yu, from the passenger seat, saw a large swarm of zombies in front of the Huixiang Clothing Factory.

These zombies were tearing at the corpses on the ground, the victims of the mother zombie they had dealt with earlier in the day.

Before they left today, a few zombies had already appeared in front of the lathe factory, attracted by the smell of blood.

However, Li Yu’s group had dealt with the zombies that had gathered there.

Plus, being on the city’s edge, not many zombies had come over.

Now, with nightfall, the zombies from the city center had been drawn by the scent of blood, swarming in.

Li Yu saw the hundreds of zombies emerging in front of the Huixiang Clothing Factory and quickly made a decision—they could no longer stay at the factory.

Who would have expected that they would need to come back?

Li Yu had forgotten about this issue on the way back, but now, seeing a thousand zombies surrounding the lathe factory, he ultimately decided to leave.

Dealing with these hundreds of zombies was not difficult for them.

However, taking out these hundreds of zombies would undoubtedly cause loud gunfire, attracting even more zombies.

So, Li Yu immediately told the people behind him, ”Reverse the vehicle, let’s leave this place.”

Third Uncle was taking a short rest at the back of the vehicle when he heard Li Yu’s voice, opened his eyes, and asked, ”What’s up, Li Yu?”

Li Yu told Third Uncle, ”Look ahead.”

Third Uncle got up, walked to the front of the vehicle, and through the glass, saw a large group of zombies at the gate of the lathe factory, less than one kilometer away.

At this moment, perhaps because they saw Li Yu and his group approaching, some zombies lifted their heads, while others started running directly toward them.

Third Uncle immediately asked Old Qin, ”Do you know anywhere suitable nearby where we can take cover?”

Li Yu added, ”Try to avoid the city center. There are too many zombies there. Think about it, is there a rural area, or perhaps a suburban area that’s close by?

We need to find a place quickly. Looking at the speed of it, I estimate that it will be completely dark in less than ten minutes.

By then, we’ll be in trouble.”

At Li Yu’s words, Old Qin also sat up straight from his seat, pondering: A suitable place that’s close by?

As he thought, Li Yu was directing everyone to turn the vehicles around. Thankfully the road here was broad enough; being at the forefront, all Li Yu had to do was make a right turn to reverse his vehicle.

The rest of the vehicles just had to follow suit.

The speed of reversing was swift.

Meanwhile, Old Qin was still considering where nearby might be a suitable place to hide:

Sheraton Hotel? No, it’s too close to the city center.

Huixiang Clothing Factory? Although it’s not far, that factory is too dilapidated, without a wall or closed gates. It’s not safe.

Where would be appropriate then?

As Old Qin pondered, Li Yu and the others had already turned their vehicles around, intending to leave the area first.

Suddenly, Old Zhou, sitting next to Old Qin, blurted out, ”What do you think about the Nanshan Driving School across from the gas station near the highway junction, Old Qin?”

Upon hearing this, Old Qin slapped his thigh, excitedly saying, ”How could I not have thought of that—yes, yes, that’s it, Nanshan Driving School.”
