Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Black Snake’s eyes widened when he heard Captain Luo ask Li Yu a question. Only at this moment did he believe that Li Yu and his team were indeed not on Captain Luo’s side.

So he also asked in surprise, ”Who are you guys, exactly?”

Li Yu ignored them, the situation was already under control. Did he have to answer every question these people asked?

Li Yu didn’t have the patience, the mood, nor the necessity to do so.

There were two more team members beside Captain Luo. Li Yu had Dapao and the others settle them down.

However, all the guns at the scene had been collected, and although Captain Luo and the other two team members were free to move, they had no firearms in their hands.

Li Yu checked Captain Luo’s injuries and said to Shang Xue’er standing beside him, ”Treat his wound. With the rate he’s bleeding, it won’t be long before he dies of blood loss.”

At this moment, Captain Luo, his consciousness somewhat blurred, knew Li Yu didn’t want to speak after not hearing a reply.

So, he mustered his spirits, preparing to express his thanks.

Regardless, Li Yu and his group had saved the three of them.

So he said, ”Thank you for saving us.”

Li Yu shook his hand, indicating it was nothing, and went straight to the cave behind the rock, where the grain storage was. Captain Luo’s face showed an anxious expression as he saw Li Yu heading towards the granary cave, but when he saw the fully armed people around Li Yu,

He hesitated to say more.

He was very clear about the importance and temptation of food to people in this post-apocalyptic world.

Li Yu and his team had long known there was a grain storage hidden in this cave when they were observing from the shadows.

Now that they had finally gained control of the situation, naturally they wanted to go in and see.

Li Yu, followed by Li Gang and a few others, entered. The cave entrance had been blown wide open by Captain Luo and his team, allowing two people to enter side by side.

Turning on the flashlight, what came into view was several huge pillars, about seven or eight meters high at the top, with some reaching as high as a dozen meters or more.

Li Yu walked up to one of the pillars, shone the light on it, and saw a funnel. He gave it a forceful yank.

Rustle rustle rustle～

Instantly, rice grains fell out from inside.

Li Yu hurriedly closed the funnel and then turned his head to look at the others. Li Gang and the others also checked and found food inside the other pillars.

Everyone who entered the cave had a look of joy on their faces, all with expressions of pleasant surprise.

Although Big Camphor Tree Base was currently not lacking food, but since they had opened up cooperation with people outside the base, it would consume food. Through food, they were actually continuously expanding their influence, and at the same time, attracting more suitable talents into the base.

Food was the foundation of everything.

Li Yu counted the grains, a thousand tons.

These grains, if they were to be transported, it would require heavy-duty trucks, otherwise relying on small cars, when would it ever be done?

Looking at the grains, Li Yu’s expression flickered.

It was clear that the three living members of the military squad outside the cave entrance were looking for this grain reserve.

Although he had saved them, from the understanding just now, these people were just a small team sent from the Southern forces to search for food.

These grains, Li Yu definitely wanted them.

But how to deal with those people outside?

In an instant, a murderous intent flashed across Li Yu’s eyes. If he killed them all, wouldn’t he be able to monopolize the grains?

But by killing the people from the military, not to mention whether it would be investigated by the forces from the Southern side,

Even in the base, people like Dapao would surely hope their camp represented justice.

Not to mention being exceedingly noble, but they couldn’t prioritize interests in all actions, right? A team, to maintain unity, must not have too much conflict in the principles of their actions.

Before his rebirth, Li Yu had already grinded down a lot of the inner sentimentality; he only wanted to do one thing, and that was to ensure his family and friends survived well in this apocalyptic world, always unchanged.

As for the life and death of other people, he didn’t care, nor did he want to save the world.

This was a dilemma.

Now they had saved them, and then to kill them would be to court trouble. There was no airtight wall, and if exposed, it would be troublesome later, and the team would also be harder to manage.

However, if Li Yu were to directly hand over the grains to them, he would feel reluctant.

After thinking for a long time, he decided to probe Captain Luo for more information to understand their situation better.

Thinking this way, Li Yu walked out, with Li Gang and the others following behind him.

As soon as Li Yu walked out of the cave entrance, he felt that the sky outside had also darkened a bit. Glancing at his watch, it was already 5:45 PM.

From here to the base was several dozen kilometers. Under normal circumstances, it would take an hour to get back, but driving at night, zombies would surely abound.

It was indeed too risky to drive at night amidst the danger of zombies.

Thinking of this, Li Yu said to Dapao beside him, ”Dapao, let’s head down to the foot of the mountain. Song Min and the rest are still over there on standby in case anyone tries to escape. Go and call them up here.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Li Yu slapped his head and said, ”Look at my memory, they also have walkie-talkies. I’ll just talk to them through the walkie-talkie.”

So, he turned on the walkie-talkie and said, ”Song Min, Song Min, can you hear me?”

Crackle crackle crackle～

Electric current sounds came to Li Yu’s ears, along with some noisy sounds.

”Deng Ben, Deng Ben. Song Min, Song Min, can you hear me?”

Li Yu continued.

Clang clang~

Bang bang~

Several gunshots suddenly made Li Yu’s heart tighten, wondering what had happened.

Suddenly, Li Yu heard Song Min’s voice through the headset, sounding somewhat breathless as she said: ”Director Li, at the highway intersection over here, a lot of zombies have come, we were just resisting the zombies and didn’t have time to respond.

I don’t know why, but even though it’s not completely dark yet, the zombies suddenly came, so many zombies, I roughly glanced at them, at least a few hundred.”

Hearing this, Li Yu looked up to see Dapao and others with headsets, all with worried expressions on their faces, wondering what was going on, why so many zombies would appear all of a sudden.

The scent of blood at the tip of his nose suddenly made Li Yu understand—the reason was these corpses in front of him.

In the afternoon, the clash between the small squad of the army and Black Snake’s side lasted so long with such loud gunfire; it would have been strange if it hadn’t attracted the zombies.

It’s just that this place belonged to the suburbs, some distance away from the city, and it took time for the zombies to rush over; otherwise, they would have already surrounded this side.

After Li Yu came out of the cave, he immediately calmed down and said to Dapao: ”You take some people to go down the mountain to meet Song Min and the others, bring them up the mountain. Go now, quickly.”

Upon hearing this, Dapao immediately took a few people and ran down the mountain.

Li Yu pressed the walkie-talkie and said: ”Song Min, are there any casualties on your side, you are now running up the mountain, I’ve already sent Dapao and the others to meet you.”

Zzzzzz~

Whether it was because Song Min was running or something else, a current noise kept coming from the headset.

”Okay, okay, huff huff huff~ We are running up the mountain, Director Li, there are really a lot of zombies below the mountain, so very many, it’s possible that the zombies from the city have all run over. Our side hasn’t suffered any injuries for the moment, and we are already on our way towards you.

Just that, I just stood on the roof of a car at the foot of the mountain and took a look, there’s really a lot of zombies behind, probably no less than a thousand. You guys should prepare early.”

Song Min seemed to be running, panting as she spoke.

Li Yu looked around; so far, no zombies had appeared around them, so he immediately said, ”OK, you guys rush up the mountain.”

After speaking, Li Yu immediately began to look for places to hide from zombies.

It was pitch black at night, and even with flashlights, fighting against zombies in the dark wasn’t very wise.

To take cover was the first thought that came to Li Yu’s mind.

He stood in place and looked at the rocks for a while, then looked at the temple on the opposite side of the rocks; the temple had four or five rooms and a main hall, which could accommodate some people.

Only, the doors and windows of the temple didn’t look very sturdy, and there were entrances everywhere. Once zombies came over, they could attack from many directions.

If there were only a few dozen zombies, or even a few hundred, Li Yu wouldn’t be so worried, but listening to what Song Min said, just the front scene alone showed a thousand zombies, which meant that a lot of zombies from the city were probably attracted.

The temple was definitely not a place to stay.

Li Yu then turned his head to look at the Danxia Landform’s Rock Mountain behind the rocks, bare and with only a few scattered trees.

And beyond Rock Mountain was a cliff.

There was no way out.

Suddenly, he turned his head back to look at the cave entrance behind him; the entrance was not very big, but for them now, it was actually an advantage.

Moreover, he had just gone in to look, the inside of the cave was very large.

At least more than two thousand square meters, such a large space, was enough to accommodate them.

And with such a small entrance, the pressure on them to resist zombies would be minimized.

With this in mind, Li Yu shouted to the people around, ”A lot of zombies are coming from below the mountain, everyone quickly move the corpses near the cave entrance to other places.

Quick quick quick!”

People were shocked.

However, some had become accustomed to this.

In the apocalypse, zombies could be encountered at any moment.

To them, except for within the Inner City base, no place was safe; this kind of sudden appearance of zombies had happened many times.

People quickly followed Li Yu’s orders to move the corpses.

Fortunately, Yang Tianlong and others had been cleaning up enemy corpses just now; it was their habit, the first thing after battle was to make sure they finished off any survivors, and the second thing was to clean up the battlefield.

Now they didn’t need to clean up the battlefield anymore, they just needed to move the bodies away from the cave entrance.

Captain Luo, who had been leaning against the rocks, watched the people beside him with an indescribable expression. He was unclear about their intentions, but one thing for sure was that Li Yu and his group saw the food which would be tempting to anyone.

But then, all of them had been saved by these people, what more could be said.

Sigh...

Hearing Li Yu say that zombies were coming, and that Li Yu wanted to move the surrounding corpses, especially the ones near the cave entrance, he instantly knew that a significant number of zombies were coming.

Struggling with his body, he said to his two teammates, ”Xiao Zhuang, Xiao He, go help them move the corpses. The zombies are coming.”

The two teammates had only suffered some minor injuries, and upon hearing the captain’s commands, they immediately got up to help move the bodies.

Li Yu watched everyone move the corpses, looked at the cave entrance, and after thinking for a while, he said to Third Uncle beside him: ”Third Uncle, I am considering letting everyone enter the cave to hide, what do you think?”
