Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Whoosh~

The two zombies had their heads deep into the hole, but the zombies behind continued to push and shove forcefully.

They managed to dislodge the topmost stone.

Boom~

The zombies tumbled down like dogs, dragging the stone along.

And the people around the entrance of the cave hastily stepped back.

The moment the two zombies fell, Third Uncle, who had been closely watching the situation at the entrance, immediately moved forward and thrust the newly made spear.

Although there were only three lights on inside the cave, with two of them illuminating the ceiling and the remaining one pointed directly at the entrance,

Everyone could still see the situation at the entrance clearly, despite it being nighttime.

Puchi~

In an instant, after Third Uncle stabbed the left zombie, he didn’t stop but continued with the momentum, stabbing towards another zombie nearby.

Puchi~

These two fallen zombies lied motionless on the ground.

But even here the action didn’t cease; Third Uncle caught a glance of two more zombies pushing through the pile of stones at the entrance due to the falling stones, striving hard to squeeze into the cave.

Without any hesitation, Third Uncle’s twin thrusts pierced through the skulls of these two zombies.

After these two zombies were stabbed in the head, they slumped down limply, resting on the pile of stones.

Blocking the path for other zombies trying to enter.

However, this wouldn’t hold for long. Due to the limp bodies of these two zombies lying on the rocks, the pushing zombies from behind were causing these corpses to slowly slide down.

Li Yu, witnessing this, said, ”According to the groupings we made earlier, 9 groups, 4 people each, go guard the entrance.”

Including Deng Ben and a few others, they now totaled forty-three people. For safety, Li Yu had some of them keep an eye on Captain Luo and Black Snake at all times to avoid any issues.

Li Yu was in the first group. He took three people and replaced Third Uncle’s position. Although there were two dead zombie bodies on the ground, they were indeed dead.

Quickly, the two bodies resting on the stones slid off, and due to the pushing of the zombies behind, they fell directly into the cave.

The moment the zombie bodies fell, two more zombies surged in, but they too got stuck at the entrance.

These two zombies frantically tried to crawl in, but Li Yu and the other three in his group promptly stabbed at them.

These two zombies were taken care of as well.

Now there were four zombie corpses piled up on the ground. To move around more easily, Li Yu instructed He Chao’s group to carry the bodies aside.

The zombies kept spilling and tumbling in non-stop, but as soon as they appeared at the entrance, stuck on the stones, and tried to crawl in, Li Yu and his team would kill them.

Every time a zombie fell to the ground, a group would deliver a coup de grâce and then move it to the side.

These zombie corpses stank unbearably; one by one, they were carried to other vacant areas within the cave.

This food storage warehouse was a vast space of more than two thousand square meters. Apart from the granaries storing the food, there was a large empty space on the far right.

The space above was bare, void of anything.

Although the hole blasted open by Captain Luo and his team was not large, and not many zombies could push into the cave at once—only two zombies—there wasn’t much pressure to deal with them.

But there were simply too many zombies outside. According to Dapao and others, like Song Min, who were stationed at the mountain’s base, there were at least a thousand zombies.

If they continued blocking and dealing with the zombies at the entrance like this, they would manage, considering they had more than forty people, but it would be very exhausting to keep moving the zombie bodies around.

At that moment, more zombies burst into the entrance, and Lai Dongsheng, standing next to Li Yu, stabbed at them. After surviving the apocalypse for so long, they already knew how to effectively kill zombies and where to strike.

The eyes or mouth of a zombie are the softest parts; if attacking from behind, then the middle of the back of the head.

Therefore, Lai Dongsheng aimed for the eyes of the zombie and stabbed, Tss~

He then pulled the spear out from the zombie’s eye. Another person beside him did the same, and then stood in place to rest, waiting for the following zombies to push these two bodies in.

Since the zombies had found this place, and it was not advisable to deal with them outside during the night, even though they wore some protective gear, they had no high walls to barricade, so everything still had to prioritize stability.

Li Yu had always been extremely ruthless with his enemies, but anyone who joined the base was a person recognized by Li Yu.

He cherished their lives; give and take, he valued the lives of his subordinates, and in turn, his people trusted him more, and trusted the base more.

Thus, even though they faced many difficulties and sometimes found themselves in dire straits, the base had no casualties so far.

Looking at tonight’s situation, they could have chosen not to enter the cave and to rely on the rocks outside to fend off the zombies.

But, in the darkness, when zombies surrounded from all sides, if they weren’t careful, they could easily get bitten. Even with protection, what if a zombie dragged one of them away?

It was precisely because Li Yu didn’t want such incidents to happen that he chose to enter the cave.

Right timing, advantageous terrain, and unity of the people.

The current moment was at night, and although they were not favored by time, Li Yu tried to find a secure and appropriate place to hold off the zombies.

But going on like this was going to be exhausting.

There are some ways to block the zombies from entering the cave, we just need to kill the two zombies that just entered, then use their bodies to block the entrance, and kill any that enter afterwards at the same time.

In short, use the zombies’ bodies to block the ones behind them, and after piling up a few, the incoming zombies will face more resistance, slowing their entry into the cave considerably.

Even if some zombies are still pushed in, their speed will be much slower.

But, if we block the cave entrance with zombies’ bodies,

It would be very troublesome for them to leave tomorrow.

A pile of zombie bodies, and then some that have not been killed behind them, would pose a certain risk.

If only it was daytime now, dealing with these zombies wouldn’t be so troublesome, as it is during the nighttime that is so uncomfortable.

Even if we have night vision goggles, zombies are much more active at night; fighting zombies during the day would be much easier.

With that in mind, Li Yu looked around. Suddenly, he thought that this place is a food storage warehouse, and the current entrance was blasted open by them.

Besides this one, there must be a main entrance.

The main entrance?

Captain Luo and the others must know.

Li Yu immediately turned his head and said to Captain Luo, ”Do you know about any other entrances here?”

At this moment, Captain Luo was half-squinting his eyes, he was seriously injured, and after just taking some anti-inflammatory drugs, he was a bit woozy.

The team member next to him said, ”Yes, there’s a main entrance, but that’s a super sturdy iron door. We can’t open it from outside at all, which is why we searched and found this weakest spot to blast open with explosives.”

Li Yu’s eyes lit up after hearing this.

Other exits would be great; if we can go through the main entrance, there wouldn’t be a problem exiting through this small opening tomorrow.

So, this small entrance can be used to kill zombies, although slowly, it’s safer.

Tomorrow morning, there would be no need to take the risk of cleaning this entrance; they can just leave from the other main entrance.

Even if they don’t finish killing by tomorrow morning, these zombies, in the state of being weak under bright sunlight, are also easier to kill. It’s much simpler than killing at night.

Thinking this, Li Yu immediately said: ”Dapao, take two people to check out that entrance and see if it can be opened from there, remember not to open it now, you are just confirming whether we can exit from that side.”

Then he turned back to the team member and said, ”Please take them to have a look. Generally, for such doors, entering from the outside without keys or something like that might be very difficult.

But exiting from the inside, there should be a way.”

The team member looked back at Captain Luo and then stood there thinking. Up to this point, there had been no discussion about the ownership of these food supplies.

But indeed, these people, like Li Yu, had saved them and were resisting the zombies right now, it was something that should be done.

So the team member nodded, taking Dapao towards the main entrance.

On Li Yu’s side, they asked those who wanted to move the zombie bodies to wait for a while, as he wanted to wait for the status of the main entrance.

If it could be opened, there was no need to move the zombie bodies. Moving thousands of zombie bodies would be too exhausting.

The zombies continued to pour in, but Li Yu’s side kept stabbing the zombies’ heads with spears, and the bodies were still being pushed in, falling to the ground.

Without clearing them, the number of zombie bodies piling up near the entrance kept increasing.

Li Yu and the others were waiting for Dapao’s response.

....

On Dapao’s end, he led a few people from the base towards the main entrance.

The main entrance wasn’t far away, only about fifty meters or so.

Arriving at the main entrance, they saw a large iron door seemingly infused with concrete on the inside, towering in steel.

There was a switch at the center of this iron door, which Dapao examined.

He found that the switch wasn’t electronic, but merely a latch.

The latch held the iron door in place, so he pressed it.

Click.

The two iron doors shuddered as if being unlocked and vibrated slightly.

Gently moved, the door budged slightly, and Dapao immediately knew this was the switch and it could be opened!

He didn’t open the door, just tested it again. Li Yu had already emphasized not to open the main entrance; if opening it attracts zombies, it would be a disaster.

So, the instant after testing, Dapao quickly pushed the latch back in place, closing it.

He let out a sigh of relief.

It seemed they could exit from here.

Before leaving, even though the latch was closed, Dapao was still a bit worried about its security.

Therefore, he had the two people next to him tug on the iron door.

The latch was securely closed; it seemed to be properly shut.

Dapao then headed back to Li Yu’s location to report.
