Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Time silently slipped away.

Li Yu had rested for about four or five hours, he stood up, stretched his body, and felt well-rested.

He glanced at his watch, it was already 8:30 in the morning.

The sun was already out at this time.

Li Yu looked towards the entrance, it was Dapao’s team’s turn, still killing zombies.

Around the cave entrance, the corpses of zombies had piled up into a mountain, it took a long while before two zombies rolled in from behind that entrance.

Last night, zombies howled all night but it didn’t affect Li Yu much as he was a light sleeper.

Li Gang woke up at some point, and when he saw Li Yu awake, he walked over and said, ”Brother, we should be able to go out now, the sun must be out. Also, I noticed that the influx of zombies coming in has significantly reduced.”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”Okay, go wake everyone up, have everyone pack up, ready to go out, uh, bring Black Snake along.

Been busy these last two days, no time to trouble him, we’ll interrogate him back at the base in detail.”

Li Gang pondered for a moment, pursed his lips, looked at Captain Luo, and asked Li Yu, ”What about them? Brother, how should we handle them?”

Li Yu said, ”We talked yesterday, each person gets half of the food here, and after chatting with them yesterday, I found out that they also have a group of a few hundred people.

Also, we had previously taken in a girl named Xiaoshi, and one of their tasks was to look for Xiaoshi.”

Li Gang remembered Xiaoshi, he often encountered her in the base, he had an impression.

But still confused, he asked, ”Brother, so, should we let Xiaoshi go with them?”

Li Yu walked towards the main gate while talking, ”Let her know the situation, not sure if she recognizes Captain Luo, it’s up to her whether she goes or not. We won’t interfere.”

Li Gang nodded, understanding.

Li Yu saw Li Gang still standing there thinking and said, ”Don’t overthink it, hurry up. Wake everyone up, we are preparing to go out from the main gate, the group still killing zombies will stay in the cave for now.

Hurry and inform everyone.”

Li Gang quickly snapped back to reality and said to Li Yu, ”Alright, I’m going.”

Li Yu then walked alone towards the main gate with a flashlight, he needed to check if the main gate could be opened.

The main gate was not far, just a few tens of meters.

When he reached the main gate, just like Dapao said, it was a latch, but it seemed that some effort was needed to open it.

Moreover, even if the latch was pressed down, since the doors were indeed heavy, it might take several people to push it open.

Li Yu did not touch the latch to open the gate.

Instead, he studied around the door, circled around, and after a while, felt it was a bit boring.

So he walked back, picked up the spear, shouldered the combat pack, and arranged his equipment.

This Rock Mountain was actually constructed fairly well, all the way to the mountaintop, there were concrete roads.

The cave they were in was actually a very conspicuous place, this Rock Mountain was at the peak of Rock Mountain.

A mountain on a mountain.

However, the entry main gate was indeed very hidden and clever, using the ancient Ginkgo Tree, the main gate was constructed behind it, very ingeniously.

In fact, today’s tasks were very simple.

1. Deal with the zombies outside first.

2. Send some people back, there might be some cars downhill, use those with larger loading capacity, then transport back.

3. Bring over the ten or so heavy trucks and lorries from the base to transport this food.

Their location was in the suburbs of the County, not very far from the base, just a few dozen kilometers.

After the apocalypse burst, the place they visited the most was the County, so, the road from the County to the base was unobstructed.

When the apocalypse first erupted, the roads were blocked with cars, now it has been cleared.

Li Yu waited a few more minutes at the main gate, he leaned on the gate to listen for any zombies outside.

Quiet.

By this time, everyone had woken up and tidied up their stuff, they ate something simple to replenish their energy.

Li Gang said to Li Yu; ”Brother, we are all ready now, we can set off.”

Li Yu nodded, glanced at everyone. Captain Luo’s two teammates were supporting Captain Luo, and at that moment, Black Snake and a shrill-voiced man had their hands cuffed behind their backs.

Li Yu frowned and said, ”Let Captain Luo and the others rest in the cave for now, Black Snake too, let them all stay in the cave.

Now our plan is to deal with the zombies outside, not to directly head back to the base. Uh, Li Rang and three others stay in the cave to supervise them.”

Li Gang scratched his head awkwardly and said, ”Alright, Brother.”

Thus, they led Black Snake and Captain Luo and his group back to their original spot.

Li Yu then pressed down the latch of the main gate and applied force.

Click~

The lock of the main gate was unlocked.

”Let’s push it open together,” Li Yu said to He Chao beside him.

Several people came forward and pushed hard.

The gate was outward-opening.

The two heavy iron doors, under their force, made cracking sounds.

The main gate was slowly pushed open.

April, Spring.

The warm sunlight, through the ancient Ginkgo Tree, shone on their faces.

Mottled, dotted with spots.

People who had been in the dark abruptly opened the main gate, sunlight poured in.

It made everyone squint their eyes.

The fresh morning air, carrying the ancient and clear scent of the Ginkgo Tree.

Blew over.

Clearing away the carbon dioxide from being in a closed space with many people breathing all day yesterday.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh ~

Everyone was invigorated by the morning breeze, breathing in the fresh air uncontrollably.

Click, click, click～

The sound of the front door being pushed open attracted several nearby zombies.

Roar, roar, roar～

The nearby zombies seemed to have caught the scent of humans and started heading towards the front door.

From the moment he started pushing the door, Li Yu was very cautious because he was still unsure how many more zombies were outside.

According to what Dapao said when he came back yesterday, there were over a thousand zombies.

After slaughtering throughout last night, a rough count indicated that at least 500 zombies were killed from eight last night to eight-thirty this morning.

That’s about twelve hours, with two zombies entering each time, amounting to roughly two zombies every three minutes.

The sun had risen, and even if all the zombies outside hadn’t left, at most only a few hundred would remain.

But according to Li Yu’s understanding of zombies, they despise sunlight, so there should be fewer than before, regardless.

The front door was pushed open.

The four or five zombies nearby also charged over at the right time.

Li Yu immediately took out a dagger-made spear and stabbed forward.

Puchi～

The spear, originally made in a hurry, was not easy to use, especially after it was used for a while last night; it was practically unusable now.

Therefore, Li Yu directly took out a gun.

Bang, bang, bang～

He took care of the other zombies.

”Everyone hurry out and be cautious. Try to quickly eliminate the zombies outside,” Li Yu shouted loudly.

”Okay.”

”Okay.”

”Okay.”

...

Everyone echoed back in response.

Li Yu took the lead and charged out, but as he expected, there were many fewer zombies outside, only a little over a hundred left.

The action of more than a hundred zombies slowed down significantly under the sunlight, the sun shining on their horrifying faces, rotting flesh, a gruesome sight.

With over thirty people coming out, each person only needed to take care of two or three zombies.

After Li Yu rushed out, he immediately switched to burst mode; being skilled with the gun, the zombies saw Li Yu and others emerging.

So they staggered towards Li Yu and his group.

Li Yu’s firing was almost perfectly accurate.

Everyone also started shooting.

Under the sun, the zombies moved at barely half the speed they did in the dark; very slow.

Even less compared to zombies on rainy nights, which are terrifyingly fast and several times more aggressive than now.

And their state even more frenzied.

These zombies were like live targets.

Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang～

A flurry of gunfire.

A few minutes later, accompanied by the cessation of gunfire, the hundred or so zombies were finally eliminated.

”Check for any missed ones. Look around to see if there are any undiscovered zombies,” Li Yu said.

Next, they planned to drive vehicles up the mountain and then transport some food back to the base, he didn’t want any zombies to suddenly appear while they were transporting supplies.

One or two zombies were not scary, but the terrifying part was the sudden attacks by zombies, which could be overwhelming.

Currently, since there was no cure if someone was bitten by a zombie, being bitten meant death.

So, extra caution was always better.

Everyone also knew Li Yu’s style of doing things, so they began patrolling around, identifying and eliminating any zombies that they hadn’t noticed earlier.

Everyone’s gear was quite complete, even if one or two zombies suddenly appeared, they couldn’t find a place to bite.

Unless trapped in a situation with many zombies where helmets were removed, then such a scenario would be inevitable.

From this, it was evident that Li Yu really cared about the lives of the people in the base.

From head to toe, they were equipped with helmets, shoulder pads, bullet-proof vests on their chests and backs.

They also wore protective arm shells, and knee pads that protected against impacts.

Their trousers were the type of tear-resistant work pants.

Their shoes were sturdy leather Martin boots.

A solid unity, all just to protect everyone’s lives.

After everyone had dispersed.

Dapao and the others also came out from the cave opening, Dapao said to Li Yu, ”Brother Yu, there are no more zombies coming in from inside the cave.”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”Hmm, they are basically all here.”

His words carried some emotionality; damn, a whole night of killing!

Dapao looked at the zombie corpses scattered outside, reminded of something, the battle here yesterday, also had over a hundred human corpses.

All were gone.

It was imaginable where they went.

Thinking of this, Dapao shivered.

The sun was rising higher, the sunlight getting hotter, and zombies were increasingly despising it. By the time it was noon, most of the zombies would be hiding in the shade.

Li Yu suddenly said, ”Dapao, lead some people to clear up the vehicles at the bottom of the mountain and make a passable road.

Additionally, since there are many vehicles at the foot of the mountain, check if there are any with a large load capacity, then drive them up here and load some food.”

Dapao nodded, gave an affirmative, and then took six or seven people down the mountain.
