Chapter 221: Meeting Gary and Richie Again

After Misty captured Corsola, Ash’s group arrived at Red Rock Island, the venue for the Whirl Islands competition.

Although the Whirl Islands competition is held for Water-type Pokemon, there were quite a lot of participants. The preliminary rounds alone required two rounds to advance to the top 64 and enter the main tournament.

Ash and Misty were both quite lucky; they were placed in two different halves for the preliminary rounds, so there was no possibility of them meeting.

Ash’s opponent in the first preliminary round was a Trainer using Seel.

”Seel, use Aurora Beam!”

Facing the beam shot by Seel, Totodile easily evaded it with its unique dance steps.

The opponent was clearly unwilling to give up and ordered Seel to fire Aurora Beam continuously.

When Seel’s stamina was bottoming out, Ash shouted: ”Totodile, use Water Gun to finish the match!”

Hearing Ash’s command, Totodile sprayed a stream of water, causing Seel’s eyes to spin in circles.

Misty, who was in the other half, also welcomed her first opponent.

Hmm... a Magikarp Trainer.

Misty only took one look and lost the desire to fight, ”Poliwhirl, use Double Slap to knock it down!”

Poliwhirl jumped over and slapped the Magikarp left and right.

Before it could even build up any anger, the Magikarp was slapped unconscious.

Ash’s second opponent was a Trainer using Shellder.

The level was significantly higher than the Seel.

But in the end, it was still easily taken out by Ash.

Misty’s second opponent was a bit troublesome; the opponent was using Seaking.

”Corsola, use Impact!”

”Seaking, use Horn Attack!”

Bang!

Relying on its longer horn, Corsola not only withstood Seaking’s Impact but also hit Seaking with Take Down.

”Very good, Corsola, press the attack and use Spike Cannon.”

Corsola fired a large number of energy needles from the sharp horn on its head, battering Seaking relentlessly.

Just like that, both of them advanced to the main tournament of the Whirl Islands.

However, the main tournament would not take place until a week later.

In order not to waste time in one place, Ash’s group decided to continue their journey through the Whirl Islands.

Soon, they arrived at the last island of the Whirl Islands—Silver Rock Island.

As soon as Ash’s group got on the island, they saw Gary, who was busy gathering information everywhere.

”Gary, you came to this island too?” Ash said helplessly.

”Ash, do you think Gary might be here for that Lugia?” Misty guessed.

”Probably. That guy must have gotten a clue from somewhere and tracked it here.”

”Damn, Ash, you really came to Silver Rock Island?”

At this moment, Gary also noticed Ash’s group.

”You knew we were coming?” Ash looked at Gary curiously.

”Gramps told me you also came to the Whirl Islands. Recently, rumors appeared from nowhere saying there’s a mysterious Pokemon here, so I guessed you might come. I didn’t expect you to actually come!” A trace of helplessness flashed across Gary’s face.

Ash asked with a smile: ”A mysterious Pokemon? Have you found any clues?”

”There is indeed a small clue. That Pokemon is not on this island, but on a small island nearby called Okinoshima.”

”By the way, Ash, how many badges have you collected?” Gary suddenly asked.

Ash showed his results and said: ”5. What, have you finished collecting them?”

”I finished collecting them half a month ago and am currently in special training. I am determined to win this Silver Conference!”

Gary confidently showed the eight badges he had collected.

”Special training, huh?” Ash pondered for a moment, thought of the assist kings, Team Rocket Trio, and said with a smile: ”Sounds pretty good. Do you want me to introduce you to some whetstones to help you improve your strength?”

Looking at the smile on Ash’s face, Gary immediately felt something was wrong and hurriedly said: ”This... no need to trouble you. I’m fine training by myself.”

”Alright then.”

Since Gary said so, Ash couldn’t really reveal the special abilities of Team Rocket Trio, so he asked instead: ”Are you planning to head to Okinoshima now?”

Gary nodded: ”Yeah, do you want to come along?”

”Sure, let’s go take a look.”

Ash knew that Okinoshima was where the mother and child Lugia lived. After arriving at Silver Rock Island, he had already sensed the Aura reaction of that Lugia.

Have to say, Young Master Gary is wealthy. This guy actually drove his own yacht to the Whirl Islands.

Out of habitual jealousy of the rich, Ash forgot that he was also a big tycoon, and also forgot that he was carrying the super luxury yacht he bought last time with him.

Half an hour later, the group arrived at the so-called Okinoshima.

As soon as they got on the island, Ash sensed another familiar Aura, and then he saw another Pikachu.

This Pikachu had three tufts of hair sticking up on its forehead.

”That Pikachu...”

”Could it be...”

”That’s right, he is Richie’s Leon.” Ash said.

The two Pikachu greeted each other.

”Eevee Eevee!” (Annoying, why is there another Pikachu again!)

After hearing Eevee’s words, Ash comforted her: ”Alright, Eevee, Leon also has a Trainer.”

”Eevee?” (Really?)

Eevee looked at Ash somewhat uncertainly. She was a bit afraid that this suddenly appearing Pikachu would also be captured by Ash.

”Of course it’s true.”

After hearing Ash’s affirmative answer, Eevee’s suspended heart finally settled down, and she rubbed against Ash’s face affectionately.

”You guys know this Pikachu’s Trainer?” Gary looked at Ash and the others with confusion.

”We do. Richie was also a contestant in the Indigo Plateau Conference...”

Before Ash could finish his sentence, Richie found them, ”Leon!”

After seeing Ash, Richie said somewhat uncertainly: ”Ash?”

Ash greeted him: ”Richie, long time no see.”

Richie nodded: ”Yeah, we haven’t met since the Indigo Plateau Conference. By the way, Ash, why did you come to the Whirl Islands?”

”I am challenging the Gyms in the Johto region! However, Jasmine is still adjusting her state, and I’ve already challenged the Cianwood Gym, so I came to the Whirl Islands to relax. What about you, Richie?” Ash looked at Richie.

”I’m here to find the mysterious Pokemon,” Richie said.

Hearing this, Gary said: ”So that means we are rivals?”
