Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 211: Chapter 211: Shining Beacon

Chapter 211: Shining Beacon

At the same time, in another room, a girl in a white dress was watching the scene of Ash confronting that girl with great interest.

”Totodile, aim for Onix’s head and use Water Gun continuously!”

Ash wasn’t unfamiliar with so-called waterproof coatings; the one on Onix was just a thin layer, and with enough Water Gun pressure, continuously spraying one spot could wash the coating away.

As long as it could wash off a bit and damage Onix, it would be a sure win.

”Onix, use Impact!” The girl was not one to sit idly by.

Upon hearing the command, Onix charged towards Totodile.

Totodile wasn’t flustered at all; he shot a Water Gun at the ground, and using the propulsion, he directly leaped onto Onix’s head.

Once up there, he didn’t even need to aim carefully; he grabbed a protruding horn on Onix’s head and continuously sprayed one spot.

After only a few sprays, a gap appeared in the waterproof coating, and Onix showed signs of pain.

”Onix!” The girl looked at Onix nervously.

In less than half a minute, Onix collapsed to the ground, apparently having been knocked out by Totodile’s attack.

The girl looked dejected, ”I lost!”

”Janina, you should understand now, there are no shortcuts to training Pokemon, right?”

Just then, a voice rang out, and the door from which the girl had exited opened again.

The girl, named Janina, stiffened upon hearing the voice, then bowed deeply towards the doorway, admitting her mistake: ”I understand, I was wrong, Miss Jasmine! Please forgive me!”

Jasmine said with a stern face, ”You must write a thorough self-reflection on this matter. Now, go clean the waterproof wax off Onix. When you can communicate with Pokemon and truly understand their characteristics, then you can come back to class!”

”Yes!”

Hearing Jasmine’s words, Janina could only obediently follow the command and ran off to find a place to clean Onix.

Jasmine

After scolding her, Jasmine turned to look at Ash and the others, ”Ash, I’m so sorry for the trouble!”

”It wasn’t any trouble, Jasmine. Is that Janina a new apprentice Gym Leader at your Gym?” Ash asked curiously.

Jasmine nodded, ”Yes, she just started learning this year. She lacks experience and doesn’t really pay attention to the rules, but the lesson you just gave her was quite profound, Ash.”

”Huh?!”

Listening to their conversation, Misty and Brock felt very strange.

Misty hesitated, then whispered to Ash, ”Ash, do you know her?”

Ash nodded: ”We met by chance, but it seems we’ve come at a bad time.”

Ash and Jasmine’s acquaintance actually had a lot to do with Professor Oak. Professor Oak’s reputation in the academic world was too prominent, and many places invited him to give lectures. Ash had accompanied Professor Oak before, and during one lecture, he met Jasmine, who was still an apprentice Gym Leader.

”Ash, are you currently traveling to challenge the Johto Alliance?” Jasmine asked.

”Yes! But it seems I’ve come at an inconvenient time. Jasmine, have you encountered some difficulty?”

”Light is sick, and I’ve been quite busy lately, so the Gym challenge might have to be postponed...”

Before Jasmine could finish speaking, she received a phone call.

Then she hastily said goodbye to Ash: ”Ash, I’m sorry, I have something to deal with. I’ll contact you later!”

Before her words even faded, she hurriedly left the Gym.

”Huh, Ash, who is Light that Miss Jasmine mentioned? Is she a cute girl like Miss Jasmine?” Brock asked dreamily.

Ash rolled his eyes and said, ”Brock, what are you thinking? Light actually refers to Ampharos!”

”Ampharos? So, Ash, do you know where Miss Jasmine is going?” Misty asked.

”Yes, she should be rushing to Olivine Lighthouse now. That Ampharos named Light works at the lighthouse,” Ash explained.

”Then let’s go take a look too!”

Brock had already finished flipping through the travel guide. He spoke, ”The travel guide says that lighthouse seems to have significant historical value.”

”Alright.”

The group had just left the Gym and walked a few steps when they saw Janina using sand to clean the waterproof wax off Onix.

”Hey, Janina!” Ash called out.

Janina saw Ash and bowed solemnly, ”Oh, Ash, I’m sorry.”

”What happened just now is fine. By the way, what are you doing?” Ash looked at her confused.

”I’m using sand to remove the waterproof wax that was previously applied to Onix.”

As soon as Janina finished speaking, Brock couldn’t help but scold, ”Waterproof wax? Doing that to Onix is really too pitiful.”

”Ah, it’s because I admired Miss Jasmine so much that I insisted she take me as her apprentice, but I let down her expectations, so I tried to find a way for Onix to overcome its weakness, but I didn’t know this was against the rules,” Janina explained with a dejected tone.

”Actually, you don’t have to force yourself to change weaknesses. You should instead discover Onix’s strengths, such as Onix’s power, the hardness of its body, and so on. And what you’re doing is just avoiding the issue,” Brock said.

Ash also spoke, ”Brock is right. You should listen to your Pokemon’s own voice more. As for weakness training, you can actually start with the most basic adaptability training, instead of trying to be clever.”

”I understand, but I just don’t know how to do it...” Janina still didn’t quite understand Ash and Brock’s words.

”Actually, if you just listen carefully to what Onix is saying often, you’ll definitely understand.”

”Huh? Miss Jasmine said something similar too.”

Brock patiently said, ”Just change it slowly.”

”I understand, thank you!” Janina earnestly bowed to Brock.

”By the way, Janina, we’re going to Olivine Lighthouse now, do you want to come along?” Ash asked.

”No, thank you. Miss Jasmine told me to clean the wax off Onix, and I’m only halfway done...”

Speaking of Jasmine, Janina still felt it was better not to meet her for now. She was afraid she might do something wrong again and get scolded.

”Alright then, keep up the hard work. We’ll go to Olivine Lighthouse first to check things out.”

After bidding farewell to Janina, Ash and the others headed straight for Olivine Lighthouse in the direction of the pier.

”Huh? There are actually two lighthouses here?” Misty looked confusedly at the two lighthouses in front, one tall and one short, one new and one old.

”The old lighthouse directly in front is Olivine Lighthouse; the other one is the newly built lighthouse.”
